If a week ago anyone told us Duff would be on stage replacing Tommy for one song people would laugh at the idea and say no way but now it happens and I´m reading people say it doesn´t mean that much? Fuck off hahaha!

I´m not saying a  reunion is coming tomorrow but gimme a break people the "near impossible" just happened.

All we need to remember about this is, Axl said he would maybe do something with Duff. And he did.

No matter how much that shits all over your selective memory and fantasy, those are the facts.

End of story!

Unreal. Say all the shit you want in hindsight and what Axl has said in the past and all that fucking bullshit. FACT is had anyone suggested this was really going to happen last week everyone would have told that person to fuck off they are crazy. So it does happen and now everyone basically says it´s not a big deal. Gimme a  break.  Selective memory my ass, sorry I´m shitting all over YOUR lack of comon sense perspective.  A week ago Duff playing on stage with Guns N ´Roses was a pipe dream and people would have considerd such an act as a tell tale sign of a reunion coming at some point but when it turns into reality people start acting like it means fuck all. roll

Even though Axl said what he said in the past it´s still a  huge shock to see it happen and anyone who says it´s not is full of shit. Now that THIS has hapened only one other thing needs to. Whoever the drummer is, is irelevant really but now we have two combinations of 3/4 original Guns N´Roses members willing to play together and have made it happen. How anyone can sit there and say with a  straight face this isn´t a huge steeping stone to an inevitable reunion down the road is beyond me.

It´s inevitable. Time heals all wounds and it´s starting to show more and more with these guys. Not aknowledgeing Tommy openly saying he´d step aside for a reunion is some selective memory on your part. It´s says he understands what a reunion would mean and he´d be ok with it. Funny how you fail to even add this into the equation.

Jeeezz! Sorry, I stopped halfway through your post. It actually seems like you're trying very hard to convince yourself...

Definitely not the end of the story as his views on all the ex members change from year to year.

If you think he has continually stated he would do something with Duff, it is you that is suffering from selective memory.

I didn't say he has continually stated he would do something with Duff. But he did say it in one of the few interviews after the release of CD. And now he did it!

Just pointing out that the event was not as big of a surprise as some are desperately trying to present it...

Sure, I can understand that some re-union-friendly forummembers want this to be a sign of things to come. And the scenario that this event will just fade into history as "a cool thing that happened once..." is kinda scary. Because if this doesn't push things in the direction of a re-union, what the hell will...?

The behind the scenes drama is most likely less dramatic than some of us tend to believe

Apparently there must be a CD fan on the writing staff. 16

Don't know the show. But yeah, sounds like there is a closet-CD-fan among the writing staff...

Seeing those clips of Duff with GNR again was cool!

Just goes to show that much of the behind-the-scenes drama is less complicated than one would imagine.

Sure, there's been some lawsuits flying back and forth. But I would think that most of those involved are adult enough to see that for what it is, purely buisness!

When Izzy joined GNR for some shows in 2006, I thought: "Well, this just ad fuels to Axl's motivation to 'soldier on' with his current lineup and vision."
Now, having yet another original member giving his "blessing", I guess only ads more fuel to that motivation.

If that means, like Buzzsaw said, that "...Axl thinks he won...". I say COOL!!

Why? Copy and paste from another thread:

If GNR wanted to release some proshot material from a show. That would include many songs from the back catalogue, and would prolly mean that ex-members would have to give the green light for the release.

No I don't think it does.

Any person can obtain a statute baised compulsory mechanical license to record a cover version of any song that has been previously released.

This means you and I, or Axl and Bumble, can re-record all of Slash and Duff's back catalogue and as long as we send their publishers the license cheque there's not too much they can do about it.

Well, as I started the original post in that other thread, I'm not entirely sure I'm down with the facts on this stuff...

Come to think of it...I think you're on to something, monkeychow.

On a norwegian music-show on TV, there was this story about a band called Donkeyboy, that has kinda made it big with a song called "Ambitions" here in Norway. Their recordcompany wants to try and make them big in England. But sorta out of nowhere this guy who was on the english version of X-Factor re-records it and release it as a single in England and kinda shits all over their plans!!
On the TV-show they interviewed some guy who had some knowledge on the music-buisness, and he pretty musch said that anybody can re-record anything they want as long as they don't change the music more than so and so....

So I guess I'm kinda talking outa my ass on this subject!

But thinking about how much killer proshot material there must in the vault, surely there must be some sort of contractual agreement from the past that are preventing stuff to be officially released. Or maybe some peeps at Universal are just pissed at Axl for not promoting ChiDem, that they won't throw shit his way untill hell freezes over or untill he "man up" and hands over more gems from the the ChiDem-sessions, whichever comes first(!)

Any kind of official video would be cool!

The making of the Trilogy videos are awesome! I have watched them so many times over the years that I almost know every word by heart! (*embarrassed-total-nerd-fanboy/axlite*)

Imagine something like that released in regards to the Chinese Democracy saga! Real personal interviews from the people involved!
I'd eat that shit raw!

hmm

And then you could argue, "Hell, just release a show on bluray with all new material!"
Then the label would prolly say: "What?! C'mon Axl... You can't possibly think that we're gonna release a live Guns N' Roses show without SCOM, WTTJ, PC. Get a grip man!!"

Just because Axl owns the GNR name, doesn't mean he can release whatever he sees fit. I think....

Thinking about this makes me wanna know stuff about GNR's contract with Universal. How many albums? Timeframe etc etc...

Would kinda give us a hint on when to start expecting some ccol releases!

I know i'm going to be pushing this one up hill, but we don't actually know it won't be released do we? Other than the track record of not releasing. But like they didnt out right say it wont did they?

I think a bandmember (Fortus?) said somewhere (twitter?) that they had plans of documenting the tour but plans got scrapped. I thought the whole filming of it got scrapped, but maybe he meant releasing it...?

I've always wanted to hear this - it's a glimpse into the direction Axl was going in 1999, it's a chance to hear a studio version of the band with Robin front-and-centre... and it's not "spoiling" unreleased songs from the Chinese Democracy sessions. What's not to like?

That line-up, which was struggling with playing the classics, even 2-3 years later, although they had BH, too.

Really? They were struggling? That's just dumb-dumb talk...
You might not have liked it, but nobody was struggling with any of that material.

If I remember Kurt Loder's review of RIR3 correct, he wrote something like: "If you closed your eyes, you'd think you were back in LA in 1987"
