I like Bucket! Axl should have done a fucking solo album with him. BUT HE DIDN'T have the balls to be the next Ozzy...
I get the impression Axl wanted to make Guns N' Roses into a rock n' roll symphony.
He wanted to outgrow the dirty, prurient rock n' roll trappings. And now... back to square one. Sigh.
I like Slash. The classic lineup is probably my second favorite band of all time. But his solo stuff does nothing for me.
Slash is McDonalds on his best day. Buckethead is... a master chef constantly creating different types of cuisine.
I'll put Colma and/or Deli Creep's over anything Slash has done in his entire career. That's just me.
Name one kick ass rock song Bucket wrote that got any traction.
Bucket doesn't care about "traction". He cares about making music.
But if you want a list of tracks from Bucket I'd listen to 20 times over Slash's solo work, we can have that conversation. I'm here for you.
nowadays, Slash rather embodies something like tired nostalgy 80's thing. good to make money off casuals, of course.
100%
I don't want throwback rock.
Amen.
I like Frank.
He's like Ashba. Inferior to his predecessors but started decent enough then quickly went off a cliff.
Freese is the only new guy who fits into the classic Guns mold. Brain is more of a funky, hip hop Matt Sorum.

Catcher leak had a delicate, soulful vibe about it. I wasn't even huge on it but it's grown on me.
Pitman's synth bridge was all it needed, IMO. Ron's solo and the rest just... raped it.
Damn it, now you guys have me wanting those 02 line up leaks again. I just moved on!!

is there a difference between Chicken Dinner and the album version? it seems like the exactly same guitar track, no matter who plays it, it's fucking genius!
No, not really. The intro and the outro are about it.
I love Shackler's but don't care for Bumble's solo. Bucket had a way of melodically blending his solos, i.e. Riad. It feels wrong. Like someone kissing your woman.
But in my book, Oh My God, Shackler's, and Riad are all killer tracks.

fuck. I love Shackler's Revenge guitar solo part. that part fucks everything else from ChiDem era, maybe except for ChiDem (the song as a whole). Shackler was so shocking when it first leaked, that I refused to believe it is genuine. but it kicks so much ass!!!!!!!!
Bumble's solo?

Yes but let`s not get carried away and pretend the previous lineup was a viable and a creative band hell bent on creating music. It`s like a pot calling a kettle black.
It was during it's inception, if 70 song numbers can be believed. Granted, this is Axl's music, not Guns per se. He specifically mentioned a solo piece during the chats and it's one of those rabbits out of the hat.
Post-Robin, the band was a touring apparatus to be sure (although we don't know exactly what happened during 2010 or 2014 as far as recording music).
But Pitman calling it an "oldies band" could be sour grapes or it could be him knowing the writing on the wall. It's now exclusively a nostalgia act, no new music, Axl hanging up the towel.
The elephant in the Chinese room...
Beltrami's work wound up buried in the Buckmaster tracks on the album.
I can entertain this argument for some songs I guess but it's just not true on the whole.
The General is 100% Beltrami's doing. It has all the same signatures. We have hints at other songs from Axl. We have highly suspect band jams.
The songs Marco worked on were Axl's new A-list at the time and he had specific ideas about what went on what record.

It makes sense from Axl's perspective. It was a long standing, supportive band who toured the world and went through many highs and low's together.
Bucket is a cool guitarist but his image looked way out of place in GNR.
I hate this with the fire of a thousand suns. The guy's one of the best guitarists of all time but eh, fuck em, he dresses like an late 70s serial killer. In the entertainment industry. For a band that used to wear makeup, hoop earrings, and leather exclusively. He was, if anything, too good for Gn'R.

New Song #2 isn't Prostitute they said.
Expect ACDC and side projects once the tour has finished. Nothing new being released anytime soon
Yep.
I think Pitman's comments are more damning than anyone will acknowledge.

My favorite Grand Theft Auto board is closing down.
Damn. Right in the feels.
I'd been visiting that site about as long as I'd been visiting MyGNR, since 2002.

I'm certainly not even remotely convinced there is the amount of "vault" material we think there is.
Axl said there were 26 songs that were nearly done and 32 songs they were working on in 2006.
If you're conservative, that's at least one completed album.
"Same bat time, same bat channel" isn't indicative of 'oh shit, we have a fuck load of recording to get done'.
The baby was ready to be delivered.
Maybe there is an album worth of song structures, but why should anyone believe there are finished tracks with vocals out there.
If anything, I'd wager there's 2 finished albums of material and a shit load of remixes, band jams, and song sketches in the vault. But we know of 5 songs with vocals at a minimum.
And especially with this band, I've said it once and I'll say it a million times, why would Slash want to record on and release songs written by Robin, Pitman, Tobias, et al? There is a far better chance they take a minimum of 4 years and record brand new material with NITL lineup.
Guns N' Roses is Axl's band, plain and simple.
Axl's vision was to release a trilogy of album and extra stuff. He wanted to "take things further".
So really it comes down to if Axl has changed his mind about the Guns N' Roses brand and if he will fold New Gn'R into solo efforts.
I don't see Axl shitting out a record with Slash and Duff, even if it's sole purpose is to extend the tour.
