Are we to believe that if Ron, Frank, and Fortus do not contribute, Chinese Democracy is unfinished and we're still waiting for it in 2011?
Possibly. The problem is that it doesn't matter what you or I consider finished. It only matters what Axl considers finished and right and ready for release. He had to feel right with the album before it could come out, which is as it should be, frankly.

the real problem is, that axl had the final say in this project all these years.. we`re really beating a dead horse here. all these things were discussed for years and years. the record was finished, even mixed at least 5 years prior to its release. the 2006 "demos" are chinese democracy as it should have been released. it boggles my mind to listen to perfectly mixed "demos" like better and irs from 2006 compared to the amateurish cut and paste job we got as the finisehd product in 2008... anyways... i`m going to bed now, it`s too depressing to deal with all this bullshit
In your opinion, the 2006-2008 demos are how the album should have been released. I don't entirely agree. And, again, it doesn't really matter what we think. Axl's view of what is right and ready for release is the only one that matters when it comes to actually getting a finished product in our hands.

I know he's doing SA, he's doing his solo thing, but there's nothing to exceed his creativity in GN'R. He's not Pitman who seems to be the closest person to Axl in the tinkering game. Dizzy has never had any ambition, same goes for Frank. Even the lazy Richard had enough and got side projects to tour (or to get some more money). I really don't understand why these guys like Tommy and Ron stick with Axl, except the fat cheque.
The "lazy" Richard? Uh, o.k. If you say so.

I consider a 40-year old _talented_ guitar player lazy, if he has zero writing credit and doesn't show an ounce of interest to create something. He's quite comfortable with playing other people's songs, be it Guns N' Roses, Thin Lizzy or whatever.
Perhaps you should educate yourself a little more on someone's history before making statements like you did. You just made yourself look clueless and foolish. There's a band Richard was in before GN'R, with Frank Ferrer actually, called Love Spit Love. Richard co-wrote several songs on both their albums.

Why would Axl need Ron to contribute to decade-old songs if not for this very reason?

The tension comes from the fact that no veteran musician in the history of music likes having an amateur tell them how to lay down takes
there it is in a nutshell.
Paul Huge thought he was Axl's right hand man so started giving it some attitude. He forced out Slash and Matt with Duff finally quitting. From what Tommy is saying, the carry on continued when he arrived.
Maybe Axl saw the 'real' Paul while they were on tour and just told him to fuck off home..?
Wow, a lot of speculation. Wild speculation at that. Paul forced out Slash and Matt?
Axl saw the "real" Paul? No reason to think that at all. I think what was said before by Axl - Paul was brought in to help as a writer, and he wasn't really into doing a world tour - is probably the best info to go off of as to why Paul left.

My guess is Finck and Tobias but Tobias/Huge was the source of definite "tension" according to the Spin 99 article...
PAUL HUGE, guitar: Another childhood friend of Axl's, Huge is "the kind of guy who's always in the studio," according to temporary GN'R drum programmer Chris Vrenna. Another source says there's tension between him and Stinson because Huge "has the whole Guns attitude but he's never toured."
The tension is another story, in my opinion, apart from, or not directly related to, the songwriting. Though, I'm sure any personal tension would make working together harder.
I remember an interview with Tommy when he was in Europe touring his solo album and he confirmed that he clashed with Paul Tobias initially, but also said that in the end they ended up getting along o.k.

Winds me up the whole 'fan thing'. Seems at another forum I shan't mention it would appear that to be a 'fan' it means you must unconditionally love, support and agree with everything the band does. Even if that means turning up at shows 1-2 hrs late and then having the set cut, releasing scented candles as merchandise and discrediting other singers to push your 'idol' to number one in polls.
Its healthy for any organisation to have a diffrence of opinion amongst its members/followers/fans/employees etc. GNRevolution is a great middle ground between the stupidity of some forums and the blind loyalties of others. More people should come here!
Scented candles? Did I miss something?
As far as the whole "fan" thing, it's a fine line. At a certain point, if ALL someone does is bitch and whine and criticize, or if that is clearly the vast preponderance of what they do, it's a fair question to ask them or a question for them to ask themselves, "are you/am I really a fan anymore?".
A difference of opinion is healthy. It's also fair for a fan of the new era of GN'R, like myself, to want to be able to discuss the new lineup, the live shows, the new music, without the constant flame-baiting and trolling comments of people who only like the old band.
Again, it's a thin line and a tough balance.

Mikkamakka wrote:Yeah, this was the Tommy quote I was referring to in another thread. No wonder that Slash, Duff and Matt didn't like the idea of Paul Huge writing for the band.
Definitely a dig at Huge but could also easily be a dig at Finck as he had done nothing at that point in time as well.
Yeah, that's kind of what I thought as well. In fact, I thought it was more likely he was talking about Finck because Paul Tobias ended up with several writing credits on CD.

Overall, I slightly prefer "Don't Damn Me" to "I.R.S.". Not by much, though. Never heard the former live, but the latter absolutely kicks ass live.

So, it's "marred in denial", not "mired in denial". I had it wrong all these years.
