I think it's the same on other sites as well. Seems to be less action over on HTGTH. It's true, when there's no drama it's less "fun" to talk about. But I'll gladly take it. Great performances, zero drama. Sounds like a winning formula to me.
The activity on HTGTH is pretty ok! Lots of reviews, audio, pics and videos from the shows.
But it's kinda wierd that bad shows and stupid behaviour from band members means lots of activity from certain boardmembers.
You'd expect that from the media, but from diehard fans...

Bono,i don't know who you are but i'd just like to thank you for taking the time try and help me reach out to GNR fans across the world with my acoustic GNR project.So far,its been the most amazing response and for the most part positive,encouraging and enjoyable however there's always people that arent going to,for whatever reason like what im doing with these cherished songs.I accepted that when i started it.What is encouraging to me though is for the most part, the people who seem against these seem to be blinkered GNR fans who think that the only musical style that should exist in the world is GNR type hard rock (im happy to upset idiots like that btw) and those who think these songs lack the bite and attitude of the originals and to the latter id say, yes, they do but really, that doesnt bother me because ,its like calling a banana yellow. Its supposed to be. These are acoustic renditions. Im thinking a lot of people using these boards might not remember the show MTV unplugged, bands doing stripped down versions of classic tunes, offering new insight in to the structure of the songs and seeing how,as an experiment as songs stands up when played in a different way. Im happy to say, most people,you included (this board as an exception) have been open minded about the music and have seen what im trying to achieve. Doing these covers isnt in any way lazy as one poster amusingly put it, its like trying to climb Everest!!!

I have never understood youtube pulling stuff like that (artists getting them to pull it). It's free promo and for songs that are already out there. I dont' get it, I mean it's usually crap quality streaming audio so where is the harm in it? Surely there can't be any negative effects only potential positives from it.
More people are being exposed to your music, even old stuff that's been out for years.
Well, you need to have some guidelines on the subject.
Some, not many, but some youtubers actually make some money off of their videos. Should they then be allowed to use whatever music they like for free?
Should James Cameron feel free to put whatever original recording in his movies without paying the artists, with the argument "Hey, it's free promotion for you!"
Because that would be even a bigger promotion than a youtube-video, right?
Then you can say, "well James Cameron is not the same as a 16 year old in his parents basement making another Unboxing the new iPod-video".
But where should youtube/copyright holders draw the line? It's not easy. So that's prolly why they say "These are the rules and they apply to EVERYBODY!"
I think I read somewhere that even Darren Aronofsky or the producers of The Wrestler had to pay a "small fee" (paperwork) of $20'000 for the use of Sweet Child 'O Mine. Even though Axl gave them the song for "free".
But as far as the DJ-video goes, that shit is pure comedy! Regardless if he had all the necessary approvals!

Tell the fans to hold up a sign asking for "Estranged"
A bunch of friends/fans that are going to one of the upcoming shows should get together and make a banner saying "PLEASE PLAY ESTRANGED!!"
The absence of Estranged is wierd. Prolly the most popular song among the diehards and it hasn't been performed live since '93...
