But, before Axl knew about it, it was only mentioned it on these forums and sent to the press, it's not on any of their products nor on their website...yet.

that's what you know based on info passed on to you. the only thing we can do is assume at this point.

gnr and dr pepper, if they are in this together, clearly are basing their whole marketing on the "will it come out or not" suspense. of course axl won't go and say "hell, yeah, i know about dr. pepper". the question mark above the release of cd has to be kept there for people to actually be drawn into this "dilemma". you have to keep people guessing.

i don't care what they do as long as the album is out. and it's not selling out if i don't consider it that. i think it's great promotion in today's music business.

p.s. some people considered metallica sellouts when they made their first video. but it was a great move dor them at the time. it's all about conception

if it's an april fool's hoax it's a very very elaborate one.

if it's for real then chinese democracy will be out this year. and i say that just based on the involvement of dr. pepper. until now it was only about gnr and people made fun of the band and the band only. they can't afford to drag a third party in this game and then axl can just say no, i don't want to release it or something like that. dr. pepper i am damn sure covered their asses in case of anything and gnr will be touring 100 years to pay dr. pepper if the cd is not out.

and just so people don't ask, this is not the same as the harley ad. there was no press release there, just a new track on the background of a new commercial that never aired. now we're talking of something of a much bigger scale.

hope it is true but until april 1st goes by i'm not getting excited, and not even after that. i'll wait for an official cover and tracklist.

i'd like too see them get someone else and continue on but, as you said, that might not be the case. slash has his solo cd in the works and duff is indifferent, he's got a "whatever happens happens" attitude at tthe moment i think.

you know what i think is really twisted? they're still out there playing gigs and we're already picking other singers to replace scott 16

an unknown person i think is out of the question considering they've tried that before scott got into the ecuation and it went nowhere.

this is ridiculous. it's spreading like wildfire 16

i'd love to eat my words but that never happened when i talked about cd and i can say 100% it's a hoax. if it's true, great idea, but i doubt it

i'd go for cornell too but i don't know what he's currently up to and if he'd fit the style. he has a great voice and i like his lyrics. but still, i don't think he's a real candidate. remains to be seen

I haven't said anything like this in about two years but:
Maybe it's the start of some sort of marketing?

i very much doubt it for one reason and one reason only: the mention of slash and buckethead.
i don't think any kind of promotion regarding chinese democracy would take into consideration taking a shot at slash/buckethead. it would be too unprofessional me thinks

I certainly have my own reservations and issues with the Catholic Church and organized religion in general.  I simply wonder how one can label it the most evil institution ever?  Specifically when the message of that institution is love thy neighbor and do onto others as you would have them do on to you.  We all know there are problems in how this is followed and executed.  I just don't believe one can inteligently show them to be an evil institution, let alone the most evil one.

That's a matter of perception.
The Catholic church demolished womens place in society for over a thousand years. We're still suffering from the after effects.
They held our scientific evolution back for a thousand years.
They waged war, enslaved, tortured and killed in the name of god for just as long, and in many ways still do.
They supported the nazi's and even helped thousands of them escape.
They are partially responsible for the AIDS epidemic through their disapproval of condoms.
And most importantly, they have shitted all over the true purpose of Christianity with their distortion of the message.
The reason I call them the most evil is because I view all organized groups as unhealthy for society, and none more than organized religion. The Catholic Church have been around the longest and done the most, so they get the honorable prize.

great post and examples.
randall, no offense but i think you should catch up on your history books. and by history i don't mean the last century, i mean from the beggining. it's the most well organised institution ever.

i've read the "new sins", who are they to decide what a sin is? isn't that what their god does? are they playing god now?
