Matthew Wilkening of Ultimate Classic Rock recently conducted an interview with GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Ultimate Classic Rock: Do you think too much attention is paid to when your shows start, or how long it takes you to release an album? Isn't it a little silly to talk about stuff like that so much?
Dizzy: As a matter of fact, I never thought about it, but yeah, it is silly. It's a rock and roll concert, for Christ's sake! I would think we get more than our share of that, certainly. But yeah, (music) is supposed to be inspired by creativity and good things in life, and having a good time.
Ultimate Classic Rock: So, we can maybe expect to hear some new GUNS N' ROSES music soon?
Dizzy: Hopefully, that's the plan. But right now, we're out there rocking "Chinese Democracy" and some of the older classic songs, maybe some new surprises, and that's that. But I know there's always something brewing. There should be some new music coming out at some point, for sure.
Ultimate Classic Rock: You've been in GUNS N' ROSES for over 20 years now, what were the common musical influences that drew you and Axl [Rose, GN'R lead singer] together?
Dizzy: I think we're both children of the '70s. We just grew up listening to a lot of the same stuff on the radio. Things aren't like that now. Whatever city you were in had maybe two, maybe three rock stations and that's what you listened to, that's all you got. That being said, to me there was just a lot of great, great music that came out of that time. Anybody that sort of came up around the same time that we did had the same taste too. At least, people that I would choose to hang out and play music with! You just kind of gravitate together, move in the same direction.
Ultimate Classic Rock: Would it be safe to assume given how you're a keyboardist, that Elton John was a big shared influence between you and Axl?
Dizzy: (Jokingly) Who? Who's Elton John? No, of course, Elton John. He's one of the best ever, in my opinion. That's probably why he invited him to play with us that one time, at the (1992) MTV VMAs. I forgot about that 'till just now. That was cool.

Claire House Children's Hospice will receive 50% of the monies raised, this will enable the hospice to buy much needed music tuition books and sheet music, plus help them create a library full of tuition books for all instruments. The remaining 50% will be put to good use at a hospice/hospices in the South of England. A HUGE thank you to Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal for his kind help in making this happen.

Stinson's bass cut out or something on my generation and he chunked it over the stage onto the floor was gr8! he was really into the song!. Had a blast. Guns was on 30-45 mins after BC left stage! axl talked about going to jail last time in ATL. show was about 3 hrs. glad some left I got better seats. The BC set was awesome and worth price of admission IMHO and I dont really like them. Axls voice was vintage on some songs. Some not so much. plenty of covers and Chin. Dem. Everyone was on there feet for first 3or 4 songs and all the classics. THe guitars rock DJ has alot of energy and fan interaction, Axl was playing with some chiks bra and panties on stage.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's "The Song Remains Not The Same" sold around 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 41 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on May 10 via Entertainment One Music, the offering features unplugged versions of material from BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's latest album, "Order Of The Black", as well as additional material recorded during the "Order Of The Black" sessions. "The Song Remains Not The Same" was conceived, created and compiled by BLS mainman Zakk Wylde himself and the title is, of course, a nod to one of Wylde's favorite bands, LED ZEPPELIN.
"Order Of The Black" was released in North America in August 2010 via E1 Music. The CD featured four unique covers designed by Zakk Wylde himself — one for each territory: North America, Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand.

I can't believe you same folks going to see GNR in ATL didn't go see Slash at Atl last year. He played Center Stage, badass show... That was almost an exact year ago...
I caught Slash/Ozzy in tampa was a good show I only wish slash had headline spot! couldnt work out sitter for slash-ATL show.

Legendary BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has just released his memoir, "Iron Man: My Journey Through Heaven And Hell With Black Sabbath", in hardback via Perseus Books/DeCapo Press. The book is filled with funny and fascinating stories from throughout the rocker's career, but how did he remember all of them? Tony said it was easy.
"Well, I have trouble remembering last month," Iommi told VH1 Radio Network's Dave Basner. "I have trouble remembering last week, but past stuff I can remember. And funny enough, Ozzy [Osbourne, BLACK SABBATH singer] is the same, and we talk about stuff from 30 years ago and we can remember it as clear as a bell but we try to talk about stuff that happened last week — no idea. Even yesterday (laughs)."
When asked about Ozzy's statement from a few months ago where the singer revealed that he didn't think all four original members of BLACK SABBATH could "physically" take part in a reunion, Iommi said, "Who knows? I mean, somebody might keel over. It might be me. But we'll see. At least we're talking, everybody."
If SABBATH were to reunite and work on new music, does Tony have any material ready for a possible studio album? "I'm writing all the time," he told VH1 Radio Network. "I've got a lot of stuff. I've got a studio at home. I just go in and play for a bit, put something down. My engineer is good; he'll program up drums and whatever else. So I've got plenty of ideas for whatever thing I want to use them as, but usually I end up writing for that particular thing. I might have an idea for whoever it might be, whatever lineup or whatever I'm going to do, I might start off with that, but that thing might not end up like that. I'll change the riff as we go along, depending on the vocal."
Ozzy told Billboard.com last month that a reunion of the original BLACK SABBATH lineup was a "very, very strong possibility." He added, "It's in the very early stages, so we haven't recorded anything yet. If it works out, it'll work out. If it doesn't, I'll keep doing my thing."
The Birmingham Mail reported in August that the original SABBATH lineup — Ozzy, Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward — had begun rehearsing and writing music in secret for a new album. The Mail based its story around remarks made by Iommi, who later said the comments were off the record and taken out of context. Iommi's manager, however, did not deny that a reunion was underway.
Speculation about a reunion was fueled later that month when Ozzy skipped the Hollywood premiere of the documentary about his life, "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne". Both his son Jack and daughter Kelly hinted at the time that their dad was "doing something that is very, very exciting."
SABBATH did try to record a new album 12 years ago, the original lineup's first since 1978, but abandoned the attempt after just a couple of songs. The original lineup has not toured together since summer 2005 and last appeared together when they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2006.

I've seen many great rock concerts (1970s - 2000s). I believe this Guns N' Roses concert tops them all. THREE straight hours of jaw-dropping performance. Great stage show. Exceeded our expectations many times over. Yes, they were a bit slow getting on stage, but the wait was well worth it . Just bought tickets for the Atlanta Nov 2nd show. For us, it's a must-see (again) NOW !
