#71 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Rose joins AC/DC » 476 weeks ago

Since Axl owns the GNR name, it'd really be beneficial to him to keep trekking in that direction, but you never know. Monkeychow's idea above about Axl just going AC/DC sounds ludicrous at first, but when you stop and think, if he has more fun just having a good time and being paid well by AC/DC, plus the regular monetizing of the Guns brand, that could be a nice life right there without question and he could do further huge reunion gigs at the drop of a hat. This is further emphasized by the fact that albums make no money anymore to begin with. Realistically, Rock or Bust wasn't needed for AC/DC's tour, but it's the traditional way of doing things, which is how Angus likes it.

I do think Axl will want to get more of his songs out there, especially since he must have a vault deep with ideas that could be easily released re-worked with Slash & crew. Guys like Slash need to keep creating new music, I don't really know if Axl has ever had that need. I think in theory he'd like to, but when a man has one album released in the last 23 years, well, the proof is right there. With Chinese being 8 years (!) in the past by now and not really a peep about a new album, I have my reservations.

I feel super bad for Brian because he's gonna be pushed out. In my perfect world, Angus and the boys would contribute heavily to any solo album he pursues in the future as a gesture of thanks to the fans and Brian himself. From there, if Axl is in AC/DC, it basically guarantees new Axl material, which is more than I trust from him on his own. Angus writes everything anyways, so Axl should just have to sing in the studio and tour. Even if Angus handed over lyrics to Axl (I hope - he's just a better songwriter), I can't imagine Axl having to rack his brain too hard over AC/DC bar rock songs. Then if we get Axl put to real work in Guns, we're getting the best of all worlds. When Axl is with AC/DC, Slash and Duff could hopefully do some work with Myles, and hopefully time away from one another keeps Axl and Slash on good terms.

In this scenario, everyone wins, though Brian gets the shit end of the stick. I don't know of any other good solution for a guy who medically can't do it, though. The downtime of touring with AC/DC doesn't exactly help Guns, but I can't fault anyone for wanting to be the singer of AC/DC, too. AC/DC has quite a few lulls in their touring schedule, so hopefully Axl could focus on writing in between. Well organized, I think it could be pulled off from all parties.

It might come down to whether or not Slash wants to wait around, but as long as he was free to do his solo projects and tour that, I'm gonna assume he'd play ball. I wouldn't mind seeing Slash/Myles open for AC/DC too. That'd be cool. I can't imagine Slash solo gigs selling THAT many tickets, but I don't know.

I'm not mocking Brian. I feel for the guy. I know what its like to not be able to hear shit and have contant ringing in your ears. I'm risking more hearing damage by going to see GNR. Having said that, I'll call a spade a spade. He sounds terrible in that video and you cant compare Axl fiascos to it.

He had a great run. His ears couldn't hold up until the end of the road. Shit happens. Angus chose to move forward.

I don't think shit just happens when you're dealing with Brian, who sang on Back in Black, the second best selling album of all time. That's an insult to music. Brian couldn't hear and that's why he sounded poor, because of a handicap and that's the only reason he isn't going to play football and soccer stadiums until the day he passes. Brian and AC/DC are the gold standard. As much as Axl and Slash are my favorites, they can't lace their boots.

Yeah guys, like I said, Brian was awesome in Winnipeg September of last year. Let's pay respect instead of digging graves. There's enough of that out there. We're supposed to be those who appreciate the ol' boys and are better than that.

I don't think Brian sounds too bad there, really, for his age and circumstance. I will give him the benefit of the doubt until the end because there is no guarantee he didn't just have an off night. No matter how he sounds, 20 000+ real fans would show up, so it's moot.

But, I'll tell you this, when I saw AC/DC in Winnipeg in September, 2015, they were fucking on spot amazing.

Axl Rose just proved he needs to be the singer for AC/DC from here on out. Anything less is going to be... just that. And I don't think Angus would ever settle for second best.

Does anyone have a link to all those Angus/Axl/Cliff interviews or the whole thing in one piece?

Dissing some scantily clad women on stage at a rock show?

You people will literally bitch about anything.

Has there been any legit rumblings of GNR or Axl/DC actually becoming something in the studio? If no new material comes out of all of this, it was just a giant frenzy for a giant tour, but to those of us who are nowhere near any of these shows, it's a lot of hullabaloo for YouTube videos.

I agree 100% on the fact that Axl is pretty much relegated to being a heel to the common idiot/hater and those who hold grudges. Over the years of defending Axl, not as a person, but as an artist and what he's brought to the table, I've finally given up and just said fuck it. The people who dis him, say he can't sing or he's fat or say Chinese Democracy was a bad record, they can all lick my balls. If you go to the show and see whichever GNR perform, you're gonna get a hell of a show in one way or another.

The internet really hasn't been kind to Axl, either. Everyone online seems to just want to run anyone down. Not to be critical, yet positive, but just to hurt celebrities in general. Remember the "fat Axl" pic? I mean even if he actually was fat, I don't know what that has to do with anything. Chinese Democracy comes out and people dis it without even listening. These weasels aren't out to be productive or truthful in any way. They're parasitic trolls thriving for attention. And the worse part is, social media mockery and clickbait sites (like that idiot comment above about how the old Axl would just break his other foot for no reason, that has to be clickbait) are becoming even more prominent in spewing just stupid rhetoric that is not only in poor taste, but absolutely irrelevant. Do you love your mom less because she gained 50 pounds when she hit 45? I don't get it.

I was talking with a new friend about GNR, he's of course into the goof death metal bullshit and terrible movies, and he said how GNR was hair metal and bubble gum pop. Well, I don't really know how to argue with a statement so ridiculous. I'm not into NIN, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc, all these bands so many people here adore. Their lyrics just don't interest me. I'm not gonna sit here and tell anyone that they are terrible just because I don't get them, personally.

You can either go about things like an adult, or you can do it like an idiot. People like me will read comments about GNR being terrible at Coachella and know you're an idiot. The people who listen to them are also likely idiots. So you just pass over their words like you'd avoid dog shit on the sidewalk.
