Anyone else thrown a bit by the kind of skipping parts? Very odd timing ... obviously deliberate but kind of odd? Axl also sounds ever so slightly off the beat in parts - similarly to live.... mmmm
its bc the vocals are 20 years old because Axl couldn't bother to redo the vocals to fit the new guitar parts.

I seen someone mention (I am not sure if it was here or elsewhere), that maybe Slash's hardschool could just be a version of HS from 03-08, I wouldn't be shocked as a couple of released songs went through pretty big changes, and if released songs changed a bit who knows how much songs that weren't supposed to be on the first album changed.
Also with Bucket's killswitch intro to SW still being intact I am way more interested in Slash's versions of CD2 songs. Because from what we heard from the two songs, the only thing that is really any different are the guitar solos. I would like to hear a later version of HS to see how much has changed though. Also now this leads the question would they be crazy enough to release an album with vocals from 1999-2007? My guess is probably but the 07 vocals will stick out as his raspy voice sounded different in 1999.
Speaking about vocals, If I were them I would really release Hardschool as a single before I play it live. There is pretty much 0 chance Axl will sound passable on the chorus live and I would not want people's first two impression of new material be Silkworms (a fun song IMO but I see why others don't like it) and a bad performance of Hardschool vocally.
I guess we will have to see what happens, maybe they are just playing these two songs for fun and have no plans of releasing them or maybe it is just because of the leaks. Hopefully it is for a new album.
Axls vocals on CD where all over the place and different.
Just listen to Madagascar, Riad, the blues, teh title track, scrapped as examples.if axl re-did all teh vocals which is doubtful and he did them around the time he did that looney toons song, his rasp is pretty good.
Also he had good rasp in 2016 with AC DC too
I think he can easily wheel out the rasp in-studio, given that they can literally do as many takes as he needs to lay down the track.
agreed plus they can audio tune him and put on any effects to give him extra rasp too

Brasky says an EP in Nov
If that is true I bet the EP will be Hard School, Atlas, Perhaps and Silkworms.
So of course it will be nothing the die-hards have not heard before in one form or another.
And just watch it will be the same vocals too as the locker versions.

Of all the unreleased CD songs to play live first they do silkworms, its just Axl trolling the hard core fans. He knows most of us want hard school so he picked the CD leftover song most fans hated.
the funny thing is, i loved the 2001 version, and what does Axl do, he like all the CD studio songs made it worse. And instead of making it overproduced, what did he do? He stripped out lyrics and made the song way too repetitive. The 2001 version flowed way better and it had a real chorus. Now the chorus is just Axl saying absurd over and over again. It sucks we will never get a proper 2001 version with the full lyrics.

the ron version of silkworms is trash
the HOB is the best version. Silkworms is a great song musically. The weak link are the lyrics.
Slash will just butcher SW like he has ruined every Cd song he plays on and like he has ruined hard school.

surely they have to play Hard school at some point? I remain somewhat positive I guess of getting something - I guess you could say this show today was clearing out the cobwebs and ring rust. I'd be nice to hear Axl actually give an update around the future....
YOu listen to any other bands first show back on a new tour and its never a disaster like it was with GNR
its time for the excuses to stop

Causal fans may not care about unreleased new songs but i am sure causals who go to every show would like a new set list with more UYI songs on it. And if they are going to do other covers they have a cover album pick from that FFS

AgesOfTheIce wrote:I can't fucking believe Slither & BHS are still on the setlist. What the actual fuck. If Axl insists on playing covers at least vary it up a bit. Play The Last Fight or Messages, VR tracks that would go better with his current voice. If you still need to play Soundgarden, play RATYW or something. Slash keep shredding and getting more technical, give him a challenge.
Nobody cares about The Last Fight and even less care about Messages. You want them playing VR deep cuts and B sides in 2021?!?
The audience would think they are brand new songs. This would cause any potential that Hardschool has to be squandered.
When looking at things such as set lists, you have to stop looking at it from a hardcore fan perspective.
It's not about hardcore fans anymore and hasn't been for a long time. It's about casual fans and will be until the end of the line.
Hell....GNR management...which literally spent nearly 20 years obsessed with forums....no longer gives the tiniest of shits about them.
They only care about social media...which is where casual fans reside.
They aren't seeing requests for VR deep cuts on social media....and wouldn't play them if they did.
Do you know what they're seeing on social media?
Jungle....SCOM....PC....NR.... Patience.....the occasional mention of something new.
I just hope Hardschool is staying in the set even though I'm not a big fan of it. They're not playing it for hardcores.... they're playing it for a large audience...and there has to be a reason for it.
You know why they don't care about forums anymore? Just look at them. Mygnr and HTGTH were two fo the biggest GNR forums and this band and management killed them. They are a waste land now. So there is no need to give a crap about them anymore
