Here's a true story. Around 1997 I was dating a girl who I met in NYC. One rainy afternoon she and I decided to go to a movie theater (forgot the name) that show previously-well-received movies of the past. I can't seem to recall what movie we saw. Anyway we pay for our tickets and she decided to go get some popcorn and soda for the both of us while I went to find two seats. As I got to the middle of the seating area I noticed a woman sitting and there were two empty seats next to her. So I asked her if the two two seats were taken and she looked at me as if she knew that I knew who she was and said very quickly "These seats are taken." So I left it at that and found two other seats a little further down the rows. It was no big deal. My girlfriend came into the theater and passed the woman than saw where I was sitting and sat down next to me. She turns to me and tells me that the woman behind us sitting alone was Stephanie Seymour. I couldn't believe it was her. At that time I knew what she looked like. But on that day she was not wearing any make-up and looked very pale. I turned around and she looked at me with kind of a apologetic look thinking she misjudged me because she thought I wanted to sit next to her because I knew her. (And at that time I was dressed as a rocker with my long black hair.) But it didn't hit me when I first saw her that it was her until my girlfriend pointed it out. Real funny story.
Consequently she wasn't holding those two empty seats but a man (not Axl) but probably a new boyfriend after Axl came in and sat down next to her.

I agree that Elvis had done many covers better than the original artist.
The Beatles were very good at doing that too.
Rock & Roll music by Chuck Berry
Twist and Shout by The Isley Brothers
Just to name a few........:o

I bought the Heaven & Hell cd. Wow that is one heavy cd!!! Once again Tony has come up with some amazing-scary guitar riffs. Dio sounds as great as he was back in the days of the Heaven and Hell album; Mob Rules. Geezer and Vinnie really do a great job as far as holding it down. All and all I'm very impressed with this cd.

Hey all serious accounts aside I am grateful that Axl and company put the cd out. It's one of the few cds I've purchased the last two years. I like to keep up with the artists that I love pre-1990's that had already established themselves. When I first bought the cd and played it the first two songs to me was far left field from the original G&R. But by the third and fourth song I started to think 'hey wait a minute this isn't that bad'. Than when I heard If the World and There was a time I was convinced that this was more than a cd to put out because Axl may need money but a well thought out cd filled with different vantage points that most cds today don't deliver. From that point on the following eight songs only confirmed to me that although 'old school' may be passe', the term old school is a term what modern artists like to use because they really don't have the talent and blood, sweat and tears of artists who delivered and wrote great songs from the 50's, 60's , 70's and even the 80's. It seems to me that those artists that write songs that echo the same sentiments we are all feeling are the ones who write from experiences of hardship and struggles. The greatest artists are the ones who are hungry inside and stand by their integrity and truth. Thus this cd that might appear to be so quickly dismissed as a flop or 'not as popular' as what is in the top twenty billboard charts is really a misconception. It's a cd that if you don't listen to it for a month than pop it in again it takes you up in an up-lifting way the same way as if you just popped it in the very first time. Not to many cds can deliver that to a listener. If you don't believe me, hide Chinese Democracy away for a month than pull it out and play it..........(Now I've got the best of you!!!!!):)
