As I said before, if Axl had to abandon what he's done with this band it would be an admission
of failure, and he would spite himself and never sing again before he admitted he couldn't make
it with his band and his vision.Agreed - IF he did it with no album. What if he releases 4 albums this year in one hit. Thus equaling the ENTIRE output of the old band!!! That's no failure!!! Once he has done that - what then? Go hire new people to replace robin and record a new album? Just as easy to call slash. Musically there are some differences...but at least 50% of the leaks we have could have been done by the old band...theres still a hell of a lot of similarities for them to find common ground.
Exactly. Releasing four albums in one go basically kills the albums' chances of reaching any sort of commercial success (in numbers), but allows him to get all the praise from the reviewers. Not all of them will be positive, but a lot of them will be (just like when CB came out). He gets the praise, proving he can do it by himself (and putting out as much material as Slash & Duff have individually or with their own projects - in one go).
There is no new band (no, I don't think BH would come back), and the rest of misterID's claims are all just assumptions any way.
By the way: Axl is potentially the only one who needs the money, the others would be in it for the fame and glamour.

Please, don't make me break out the FIVE POINTS of why there will NOT be a reunion, again.
And isn't it possible if they do release all the albums that they would do it a month at a time and
not all at once? That would be September, October, November, December. The four months you
really want to release an album(s).
I haven't seen your FIVE POINTS before, so I'm more than interested in you breaking them out again. Or maybe you could point me to an earlier post of yours?

If they are indeed releasing 4 albums at the same time, it's reunion time . Axl's just purging his remaining material to get it out there. Furthermore, they will sell like crap. This ain't 1991 anymore, no-one will fork over €30+ for a 4 record set (and that's being optimistic). It'll be online sales for certain songs only, and everyone knows that the Classic Rock generation mostly buys albums. No hit single, no hit record, nothing.
Alternatively, he'll retire after this (which I don't think he will).
(or maybe he's taking a page out of buckethead's book, and wants to start churning out records at an unbelievable pace )

Where Bucket stands out to me on the new leaks:
1. TWAT solo
2. IRS solo, especially how he ends the solo.
3. The guitar flourishes and brief solo on Better.
4. IF The World's acoustic flamenco guitar and his electric solo has great tone to it-I assume that is him by the tone.
5. The solo on CD and it's aftermath-the underlying guitar flourishes under Axl's outro.
All solo's, right? Is there any reason for us to assume he had a hand in the actual songwriting as well? Bucket's solo's are among the scarce highpoints of these songs for me, so I agree to a certain extend. I just can't seem to stomach Axl's songwriting vision any more. As I see it, without Buckethead these songs would've been crap, with him they are mediocre at best. That's why I will always cry "bring back Slash (and Izzy, obviously)".

Heh, I voted Slash, 'cause that's just my ultimate (GNR related) fantasy .
Other than that, a few remarks:
- No BBF love at all, or so it seems?
- I have been silent about this for as long as I could bite my tongue, but (although I hugely respect him) I don't get the Bucket drooling all of the sudden. The newest leaks seem to be the worst of the whole lot (in my opinion) and none of their guitar parts actually blow me away. I absolutely adore some of Bucket's solo work, and I realise he brings nice touches to the GNR material but it still doesn't excel or shine in any way.
James has repeatedly stated that you can't hate buckethead unless you hate the new material. Although I don't see strong evidence suggesting these are all bucket songs (sincerely hope not), I do understand what he's trying to say with that. I have to say that I really do like buckethead, I just don't like newGNR's (his?) songs.
So in short:
Love old GNR!
Love Buckethead!
Don't like new GNR!

Maybe he's fulfilling his contract, or just getting it of his chest by releasing it without touring behind it. Once this thing is out of the way, the road to a real reunion is open. Especially if they only play one or two songs from the album live (like The Blues & Madagascar, not having a real "bucket" part) afterwards.
If this thing gets released without a tour, I'm ordering reunion hats. If they tour the album, a reunion might be a long way off.

It's nothing great, but it kicks the shit out of Libertad. (and Song#2).
I respectfully disagree with it kicking the shit out of Libertad . It pisses all over Song#2 though.

I actually prefer "No More", but I agree: very generic and seemingly uninspired indeed.

Thanks for that, interesting read

Maddy for me. It's the first reasonable song I have to vote off but I have no scruples about doing so.
