#801 Re: Guns N' Roses » what does Axl/GNR have to, to regain your interest 100% » 778 weeks ago

Many good points here...

I think I'm about 85% on board at the moment. I think it took 24 hours for me to notice the last announced gig in the US. A few years a go it would have taken less than 30 min!  smile

For me to get 2006-excited again, I guess it would take a new album and the band continueing to tour. Throw in a live DVD/BluRay and I'm a REALLY happy camper!

I rule out there ever being a full blown marketing campaign WITH Axl at the helm! It's not really that imortant to me anymore that GNR be back on everyones lips and minds and being "accepted" as GNR.

I love CD. I love the evolution and complexity of the music and lyrics. Not to mention the outstanding quality of the sound (playing CD through a PC robs it of much of its quality!)
And if they release another great album I will be just as excited as when CD was released. Regardless of how many people in the world are "on board and lovin' it".

Sure we all love the old lineup in our own ways. I recently got a picture re-framed. It's a picture taken from a helicopter of the venue in Norway where GNR playd in '93. Brings back good memories.
But as far as wanting a reunion, that raw uncomprimising attitude of five guys in their early 20's will be long gone. It excists only in our memories and the live bootlegs you pull out when you come home drunk one night and want to re-capture that feeling you once had... That was me from 1993 to 2000. Some of you guys are still there. And that's cool!

And knowing what we do now about the breakup and the feelings amongst some of the guys. It just wouldn't feel genuin...
So thanx but no thanx!

So if I got to choose:
Release more music from the vault, live DVD or hit the studio with the current band! Oh, and that remix-album would be helluva lot of fun to hear!

And if they don't, they won't. AFD, UYI and CD will still be just as great!

You totally missed my point or decided to ignore it. I can explain it more thoroughly if you feel the need for it...

You make idiotic posts like the one above thinking you're going to get all this support for bashing me, realize it's not going to happen, then slink off for your next chance to "get me" for something I posted.

Ehh.. not really. I wouldn't go as far as call you an idiot, don't know you personally to make that assumption. So I guess I'm just calling a douch a douch...:)

Do you talk like that in real life as well or is it mostly in the comfortable anonymous state of existence behind a computer...?

When you have to state the fact that you have a lot of confidence, it kinda backfires on you...

Go on Buzzsaw, try it.... Pretty soon you'll find yourself strolling in a nearby park whistling SCOM along with the birds!

GnR doesn't frustrate me at all.  It's quite entertaining actually.  Coming here and discussing the failures is relaxing...reading crazy defending of every situation is downright funny.

The best part of all of this is that my only concern about all of this was that it would tarnish the legacy of the real band.  From what I've seen, it has only increased the appreciation for the real band, so other than missing out on 20 years of potentially great music, this has been everything I could have hoped for.

I would say I'm a lot closer to spending my time on things I love than you are.  Perhaps you need to follow your own advice and stop trying to convert me into something I'll never be.

Oh, so it's like... you enjoy selfinflicting pain? You predict your worst case scenario and when it comes true you enjoy the missery just because your prediction came true. Aha! Normal and healthy way to spend your time! Jeeezz...

I'm not trying to convert you into being a GNR-fan anno 2010.

Hey! you know what!??
Your kind of trolls remind me of those crazy anti-Apple haters. You know, the ones who will volunteerly stand in line for hours for a new iPhone, just to smash it with a sledgehammer infront of the store... They too find it funny and get a hard-on when things go wrong...

Just trying to make you see the imature and unhealthy nature of your ways....

Agreed.  And along the lines of what I was saying in the other thread.  If people, including you Buzz, didn't like the songs the way they were it's doubtful they're going to like any remix versions.  If you thought Chinese Democracy was an album for the fans, you ain't seen nothing yet.  Again, IF the album were to ever come out, which I have my doubts.

it's not that they won't like it  - it's that they won't hear it. a remix of an original cd, half way or all the way past it's tour and promo, is not gonna get any attention from ayone other than us no matter how good it is. unless they have a huge single to add to it. that could change everything fi they act soon enough.

That was my point exactly.

Some fans seem to be a bit too occupied with the idea of GNR once again being on the very top of the music-industry.

Must admit I once had that dream... When you love something, you want it to succeed.

Much of the CD material have that potential, there is no doubt about that! But history has shown that Axl doesn't seem to want to "play the game"... I mean, there must be offers coming in to the GNR-camp daily. Offers that could easily be exploited to reach a wider audience.
It just may be that Axl is satisfied with level they are at now.

Pesonally I have come to accept that I will, for the foreseeable future, have GNR/ChiDem as my own private little masterpiece.
smile

Fans of the old-GNR/Slash or fans that are very dissapointed by the lack of effort by Axl, use the status quo to justify their agenda (or at least they try to...). It shines through their posts. We see them all the time on every board, including this one. It's very transparent...

#806 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR Rumoured To Play in Sydney Australia December 2010 » 780 weeks ago

Hmmm.. Kinda wierd to see them mention Tracii Guns and Rob Gardner as original members. And mention specificly that Slash and Adler came in as replacements.

Yeah, I know it's correct, but it's just strange to see it mentioned in connection with a gig.

"Originating in Los Angeles in June 1985, Guns N' Roses' originally was formed by singer Axl Rose, guitarist Tracii Guns, guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Robbie Gardner, The name was derived from a combination of Tracii Guns and Axl Rose's pseudonymous last names. Shortly after inception guitarist Slash and drummer Stephen Adler replaced Guns and Gardner."

Is this Lebron-thing really the priority of almost every media outlet and every person in the US? So much that it takes over threads on forums dedicated to a rock n roll band?

Could it be that every album and every song being about the devil, tits n' ass and booze is a bit easier to grasp for a 10-year-old is part of the reason?

If that was the case they'd all be saying Motley Crue.

Fair enough...  smile

But considering AC/DC's catchy/easy to grasp and to love lyrics and riff, it's a given that a 10-year old will bang his toy-hammer along to that beat...

GNR's evolution from AFD to CD will kinda grow out of the kindergarden-level.

With that said, some of my girlfriend's girlfirends love Better and TIL. So with strategic and thoughtout licensing and marketing, GNR would be on the minds of the general public. No doubt!

But maybe that's Axl's idea of selling out... hmm
