Couldn't it just be the simple fact that it was the most popular GNR fan site? If Axl posts there, it's immediately reaching the highest amount of people. Obviously, it trickles down to the other sites in a matter of minutes, but still it was the largest. And from what I gather, the original BIG time fan site. It's the first one I remember reading news from and posting. I haven't been an active member there since the very early days, so this won't really effect me. An interesting turn of events though.
Sorry, don't buy it, man. If he hated the site so thoroughly, he could've just posted on HTGH and his post would've filtered through to other sites. And honestly, why would he bother to thank Eric Romano in the CD liner notes and take the time to meet him during the Canadian tour last year? I'm sure he knew who Eric was when he met him face to face. If he thought Eric was the keeper of such an evil forum, would he meet with him? It's like Eric said Axl was a dick to him in person, did he?
It just doesn't add up.

Yeah, but if you read the letter, it was the same kind of threatening tone, "either you comply and don't allow anyone misrepresenting themselves as Axl Rose to pursue their agenda here, or we'll pursue legal action".
I dunno. I don't see that as a personal attack at all. Just a legal scare tactic the legal team must use in order to protect their client's interests in terms of IP and other things. Asking nicely doesn't work. You have to give people a reason to respect and honor your request for them to comply with what is necessary to protect your client's rights. There's a reason and a need for it from a legal perspective.

It's possible something happened after that, but Eric didn't really specify when GN'R wanted the site shut down. And what indicated they wanted the site shut down? Was it the Cease and Desist letters? Well, Jarmo just said on his site he gets those too.

The only thing I can imagine Jarmo getting those for is because he isn't speaking highly enough of the band.....
I'm just passing along what he wrote. Actually, he posted the C&D letter he got in regards to the 2003 Latigo Hammers fiasco. Jarmo that is.

It doesn't add up at all.
Something went down after that, as madagas says, which turned Eric against them.
When Axl was there in 08, everything was fine as he wouldn't have posted there otherwise.
But forum vs GNR management shit is not my type of interest.
It's possible something happened after that, but Eric didn't really specify when GN'R wanted the site shut down. And what indicated they wanted the site shut down? Was it the Cease and Desist letters? Well, Jarmo just said on his site he gets those too.

Eric didn't specify when GN'R asked for MyGNR's shutdown did he? He just said "in the past" didn't he?

Pretty big shock. But life goes on. I know I personally wouldn't start a "fan board" then get mad when the band won't pay for it, but whatever.

The only thing I have a problem with is Eric's attitude indicates some resentment towards GN'R for not funding the site. They really had zero obligation to do so. I mean is this forum financially supported by GN'R?
I never got that impression. If you support one fan forum, you have to support them all or you get a bunch of drama. Also, if GN'R supported MyGNR, there would have been even more outcries of selling out and censorship and control.

Better is (IMO) the best rocker Guns N' Roses has ever produced.
Easily one of the best GN'R songs ever in my opinion. Rocker or otherwise. I love that song.
Definitely some of my favorite GN'R songs ever, besides "Better", are from CD.
