I just listened to the Sgt. Pepper's 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition.
I liked the remixes although I'm not a Beatles devotee or purist.
This treatment is exactly what I want for Chinese D.
I'm sure others would like it for Appetite.

James can you explain to me why/how/what Audioslave's second and third album are.
I loved the first but it's like a totally different band. I listened to the second when it came out and never listened again.

If I didn't have 15 years telling me better, I would've maybe expected something.
New albums aren't teased or promoted with some cheap ass video template featuring your biggest mega hits on it.
The point of marketing is to get your attention. Y'all got played and are mad about it.
Do you think Michael Jordan or Leborn or Tom Brady would ever approach their craft how Axl approaches his and just show up to arenas to "play ball" and not try and win or be the best they can be?
You want the best? Well they didn't fuckin' make it. So here's what you get, from Hollywood, a warmed over cash-grab nostalgia tour.
Chris Pitman > GN'R. Let that sink in.

Why don't you think AFD will get the deluxe treatment? Out of all possible scenarios, that one is at the top of the list.
The impulse to celebrate anniversaries is the stuff of record companies and museum pieces.
It's arguable that old Axl has joined the ranks of the latter but not the former.
He grew restless with AFD at the height of his mania and reworked the whole thing. That, however flawed a pursuit, is something an artist does. Not remix, remaster, plaster on a white version of the cover with some asshole's gold sharpie and call it new. (I also contend the effort was two parts mania, one part revenge).
I personally don't care for that sort of revisionism. It has never turned out well in the history of art.

There was no reason to expect new music or the AFD5 pipe dream.
The question becomes what happens once 2017 is over? Another international tour, extended band hiatus, or new album recording?
I don't think it happens but there's still the possibility a new single is played / released at Rock In Rio or later in the year.
I also don't see AFD getting a deluxe release but that could happen too.
This is a business with giant corporate backing though. Expect everything to be heavily promoted in micro-segments. You're not getting a 6-9-12 month gestation period before a new album / new website / whatever.

I don't expect it but it's not out of the realm of possibility they drop a single to promote the US tour.
Even if they do that, they'll probably have an announcement for a teaser for the single release date then the single itself.

Wonder if he's making reference to the 2006 band and their 300 solo spots per show

I wonder what Axl meant about figuring out why Izzy was really doing the gigs.
Also Izzy's attitude after the deal went down suggested something more than "pay me or leave me alone".

It's unfortunate because their most diverse and creative set lists were in the Ashba era.
The 2012 shows have a lot of good stuff. We got Dead Flowers, Acca Dacca, whenever those acoustic gigs were, more Chinese, Duff and Izzy, etc. Then we got that Appetite for Democracy turd instead of something halfway interesting.
I meant the fanbase tore the classic live stuff to shreds during the wilderness years. Wore the tapes out. They were but our only piece of driftwood to hold onto. Paris, Chicago, Tokyo. As I said before I think, I'm not even a classic band purist, but I've listened to all of those a cool several hundred times. All great shows from that era but have been released or bootlegged that it's marketable life has probably passed.
I'm not opposed to future live albums (even if I find a band that has 4.5 albums having 2 live albums a complete farce) but only if it's not on the Cover The 1990s Note-For-Note tour. In my ideal world they'd do shorter, more diverse sets and try to find a fountain of youth for Axl and then maybe release that. Right now it's a polished nostalgia gig and a lot of mothballs. Not my vibe, baby!
Actually, if I were Axl I'd go completely batshit and have a Robin Finck guest spot, bring Elton out for a duet a piano number, and release the Guns N Roses and Friends Spectacular. Something with a little verve and freshness.
Maybe round 2 will be better later this year.

I'm not even an old band purist and I'd take dozens of shows over a NITL live album. And I still don't have much interest in that tbh. In the wilderness years those bones were picked clean.
I can't speak for the Eagles but the Stones remix their stuff, strip it down, and have guest collaborations.
Guns has been tremendously boring live from CD era to date.
It'd be like selling me highlights of Montana on the Chiefs.
