It's Official: CARLOS CAVAZO To Replace JOHN CORABI In RATT - Aug. 18, 2008

Following weeks of rumors and speculation, RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer has confirmed that former QUIET RIOT guitarist Carlos Cavazo will be joining the group as the replacement for rhythm guitarist John Corabi (former MÖTLEY CRÜE singer). According to Blotzer, "we have been rehearsing with Carlos and it sounds pretty freakin cool. He'll be playing his first show with us in Baton Rouge, Lousiana on August 27. Then New Orleans on August 28; Houston, August 29; Calgary, Canada, August 31. So come on out to the show and rock with us!! Crab [Corabi] has one last show that he's committed to with us on September 5 in Virginia Beach."

I read Sludge, and I remember quite awhile back one of those people saying Corabi had planned leaving long ago. Only stayed to fulfill his commitments there.

I doubt its Corabi.

If I remember correctly (and I very well could not) Corabi has moved to Nashville, and is writing with someone there.

I know for sure he is working on solo shit, because he was recently on a radio show around here. He's working with a guy from a band called The Gibbs Brothers that are from somewhere around here originally.

As I said I'm on the fence about it.  Was it that he was just trying to be bad for the sake of being bad?  Was he making a commentary on how everyones jokes were just the same recycled bullshit over and over?

I think that's what it was.  He seems to have a really fucked up sense of humor, and I really think being bad on purpose seems like something that would be really funny to him.

I also know from listening to Stern, that Sagget and Norm were both really concerned because Artie Lange was supposed to be there, but cancelled last minute.  He called to say he was sick, and the producer actually offered to charter him a plane with a doctor to attend to him on the way from New York to L.A. which he refused.   In reality, Artie had fucked himself up enough on heroin that he was literally turning green.

Everything came out in the open after it was taped, and Sagget was on Stern last week and admitted that he and Norm actually discussed that maybe Artie was dead and they just weren't telling them yet.  So it's possible, he was just pre-occupied, and didn't work on anything.

Congrats especially to Ellen, because Portia De Rossi is not only hot, but was in one of the best most underrated shows of all time.

Everybody do yourself a favor and go out and watch the dvds of Arrested Development.

The movie either just came out, or will be out soon, I'm not sure which.

It's not really an interview, it's more like comedy sketches promoting the movie.  I enjoyed it because I think Rainn Wilson is funny, but if you're watching it for Slash, or expecting any kind of info you'd be wasting your time.

#835 Re: Guns N' Roses » "Chicken Dinner" Shackler's Revenge Leak » 880 weeks ago

Fact of the matter is, even if a single sounds classic rock, you aren't going to get played on a classic rock station anyway.  Classic rock stations play classic songs, not new songs by classic artists, or classic rock sounding songs.  So no matter what there'll be no play on Classic Rock stations.

The active rock stations will play whatever comes out at first, just to say they're playing it.  Then it needs to have staying power after that, because let's face it, even the active rock stations have a pretty rotating set of "classic" newer songs, and songs by whoever's popular right now.

It also seems pretty obvious that a Top 40 station wouldn't touch this song, even if a single did chart in the Top 40.  Most of the teenage girls and thier Mom's listening to it wouldn't get into it.  Only song getting onto a top 40 station would be a ballad, and not any of the ambitious ballads we've heard so far.

First week all cds are 9.99 at best buy. U cant beat that. With Amazon, after u pay the shipping on a CD, u arent saving anything and at Best Buy you get the CD the day of.

The $9.99 is actually pretty hit and miss.  If I'm getting something 1st week I'll usually go to Best Buy, because that does happen sometimes, but it doesn't happen every time.

Yeah, I bought that album because I dig Gilby and Jason's songwriting.  Turns out they don't get many songwriting credits.  Bullshit.

I had no idea this existed, but if it's Tom Waits covers I'm willing to check it out.  Waits is a fucking genious, but I'm curious what some hot star would do with his songs.

#839 Re: The Sunset Strip » METALLICA Discussion » 880 weeks ago

Not sure if this is the same as the one they've got on the myspace or not, but it sounds better than the first video for sure.  From Blabbermouth.

A soundboard-quality audio version of the new METALLICA song called "Cyanide" recorded at this past weekend's Ozzfest is available for streaming below.

METALLICA's new album, "Death Magnetic", is scheduled for release on September 12. The CD's first single, "The Day That Never Comes", will go for radio adds before the end of the month.

METALLICA debuted "Cyanide" during its headlining set on Saturday night (August 9) at Ozzfest, which took place at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas. This marked the first time that the band has performed any material in concert from "Death Magnetic". The rest of METALLICA's 17-song Ozzfest set featured a number of the band's classic tunes as well as a medley of songs from underground metal act MERCYFUL FATE, for which they were joined onstage by that Danish act's singer, King Diamond.

Tecmo(which still had atari like graphics in the late 90s)

I can't hear Tecmo Bowl without thinking of this story:

When the Titans were in the Super Bowl, their kicker was Al Del Greco.

A friend of mine heard that during a game and yelled "Al Del Greco, he's old as hell.  Seriously, He was in the original Tecmo Bowl".

I just think it's funny how much games have infiltrated their way into sports culture in the last 20 years or so.  Sometimes when talking to someone about football, they'll make references where you can tell that a lot of thier football experience is specifically from games, more recently Madden specifically, for obvious reasons.
