Well, hate to break it to you, but you should have expected it. I didn't mention anything about late starts in my review, because Axl simply does it like that.

If it's me you're aiming at, I can assure you I am under no illusion that a GNR-show will start "on time"...

In Bergen we got to the venue at around 20:00 (I wanted to hear Danko), when people started to whine and whistle around 22:00, me and my friend went; "really?! Already?!" In Oslo we nearly missed the opening intro.... In 2006 I came to the venue when the opening acts were wrapping up their set. In '93 I waited in line from 8 o'clock in the morning outside Valle Hovin, but that's another story...  smile

The late start is usually not a big problem with me or when it comes to indoor venues in big cities. The problem appears when the gig is organized like it was in Bergen. With little or no public transportation after midnight on an ordinary weekday. The promoter didn't take the chance of having the gig at the outdoor place in downtown Bergen, where Metallica and Coldplay have played. The rules there are too strict for Axl... smile The promoter got multiple confirmations from GNR-management that the show would start "around 21:00" If a promotoer doesn't see a financial gain in GNR. The fans and GNR in that town are fucked! And who the hell wants that? You can't just shrug it of with an arrogant excuse like "Axl simply does it like that..."

I mean, if Axl doesn't want to come back and play in the cities he visits, then keep it up...

On top of all this, the star of the party performs like he doesn't want to be there. The combination is no good!

Yeah I agree, Sorry and TIL were among the highlights... Sadly!  smile

Apart from the the vocals being fucked up for most of the two shows in Norway. What really bugs me, is that Axl seemed to have a "just-another-fuckin-day-at-the-office"-attitude about the shows.

If you're gonna start a tour halfway around the world, you should be there in time to be prepared to deliver!

He hardly said two sentences to the crowd in Bergen. It's wierd that the other bandmembers are out there being interviewed, tweeting to the fans etc etc. And Axl is sorta like this ghostly figure walking on and off the stage with a "whish-I-were-elsewhere" kinda attitude.

I read an interview with one of the guys from the promoter. It was obvious that he was frustrated with Axl. I personally don't think 23:00 is that late for a show to start. But as a promotor who is organizing a gig at a venue in the outskirts of town, with hired bussdrivers and hundreds of staff having to work overtime (NOT CHEAP IN NORWAY), there is little to no money being made from a GNR-gig like this!

Sure, you can look at it from the Axl-point-of-view: "I'm not going on stage until I'm ready to deliver"
Well get there earlier and get fuckin ready! Because if not, nobody is gonna dare organize a GNR-concert here again. I'm concerned about that and Axl should too!

It may seem like I'm taking these shows rather personal, and well... I guess I am. When the rumors of European shows started to surface. My hope was that they would hit Norway before July, because me and my girlfriend are expecting our first child in August, so this was sorta like my window of oportunity to see them for quite some time...

I'm usually an Axl/nuGNR kinda fan, so it kinda bugs me the wrong way to now be like those nagative trolls who I allways try to ignore. So I think I'm gonna try my best not to shit anymore on my favourite band...

Hopefully for those of you elsewhere in Europe, Australia and the US or whereever, things (Axl) will improve as the tour goes on....

what about you naltav? any comments or review smile

I started to write a review yesterday while still in Oslo, but something went wrong with my iPod Touch, so I couldn't post it. It was prolly for the better...

Not many happy thoughts after spending x-amount of money flying from Stavanger to Bergen, Bergen-Oslo and then Oslo-back home to see my favourite band!

Oslo gig was a tad better then Bergen...  smile Which means hmm.. well... you get the picture...

Got home late last night, been busy today going through unread mails at work.

Videos from Oslo-gig turned out a bit better than the Bergen-gig. Sound is still not good enough, but some of you will prolly want to see them anywaysshh... So I will upload later when I get home...

Valle Hovin was an outdoor event. Spektrum is an indoor even in the middle of the city. Axl don't have to worry about curfews. He came on at 23:00 in 2006, and the show was over around 01:00. Valle Hovin is a semi-suburb area. It's not the same deal.

No worries.

Gotcha.  Thanks for clearing that up.

Have fun tomorrow Naltav! 9

Damn right I will! Thanx!  9

Sorry guys, but my videos from last night turned out horrible! Picture quality was ok, but the sound was downright horrible. I thought it was a good idea to cover up the "mic-hole" with my finger to avoid distortion. Boy was that a mistake! sad

I will try again tomorrow and see how it works out without my
damn finger...  smile

sux that you had problems hearing the vox...but cool that you had a good time anyway smile

fav songs? what did you think of DJ?

looking forward to vids smile

Favourites were This I Love, Nightrain, Better.

Little fun thing that happened, during Nightrain, Axl threw his big white coweboyhat towards Pitman/Frank. Pitman sees it coming flying through the air, takes a calculated step away from his keyboard and catches the hat midair and puts it on! They both seemed to enjoy it. Those in the audience who noticed it, started laughing!

I thought DJ was great! I think he jumped down on the floor at one point...

The band also gave a great performance. Axl was Ok/good... Next time when you're starting a tour halfway around the world, Axl, you might wanna make sure you're there in time, well rested and prepared...
Hopefully he's in better spirit and with audible vocals tomorrow! Looking forward to it! smile

A friend of mine (not hardcore gnr-fan), said that the different guitarsolos were much cooler than the last time he saw them ('06). I agree! smile

Just got back from det show! Ears ringing and my back hurts! smile Had great time! the band played great, but from where i was standing Axl's vocals was very low, and some verses in in some songs I could barely hear him... Didn't talk much. Wasn't until November Rain that he said something like: "How u doin...?"
Later he said: "24 hrs ago I was sitting in LA thinking I'm fucked!"
Apparently he didn't land in Bergen until 20:15 tonight...
Soundcheck could do him some good!! hmm

I had my Creative Vado HD with me. Will try to upload some videos and pics tomorrow. Never used it at gig before, so not sure how the sound will be. Not a good mic on it...

Off to Oslo tomorrow!
