I honestly cannot see that happening.

If you like Guns N' Roses enough to see them in concert, you already have a copy of Appetite for Destruction. Or you just downloaded Welcome To The Jungle on iTunes so you can pretend you've been a lifelong fan. And I don't care how good the new material is, it's not fuckin Appetite for Destruction, and making that implicit or unintentional comparison is foolhardy.

If this was a halfway sensible band one of two things would happen:

  1. A newly assembled Live Era '85-'87 album (Troubadour, Ritz, etc.) is bundled with the AFD30 release

  2. The strongest cut of mid-90s GNR is finished and released as North American tour promotion. Think Doom And Gloom.

The former would appeal strictly to purists but give enough incentive to double dip. The latter would at minimum promote the tour and potentially pave the way for a new album (lol).

Here's what will actually happen: fuck all.

Beggars can't be choosers but if you don't release AFD material on your AFD30... you're... breaking the rules. Or something.

It could be some new box set release as a sort of Compilation but doesn't seem like the likely option on the smorgasbord of already unlikely possibilities.

It's weird.

I'm sure the AFD30 would sell better with maybe a remaster and some old demos but those old demos are dreadful.

I'm biased but I want those Chinese leftovers.

That cover is pretty fucking cool.

1/2 of CD was pretty well reviewed despite the flaws.

If it's good as that, GNR could start being a little more of a fashionable band again.

We'll see

I think if it's half as good as those songs, most reasonable people will be perfectly happy with it.

AC/DC is not a torturous artist band.

Listen, Axl, this song about is shagging birds. I need lyrics by Friday. Oy, brilliant. Never would've come up with that bit about the cat and the canary. Let's record. Ok, good take fellas, now to mix.

#848 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash back in the studio » 436 weeks ago

Apparently an AXL/DC album is on the way according to Slash's old photographer on Facebook or something

And it's reasonable that Slash/Duff want to record new tunes but considering Axl said "it hasn't been decided" about old songs, it's clear that everyone was at least at one point open minded to the idea. We gain nothing individually or in discussion by drudging up old wounds.

Slash and Duff are back in the band and people are still trying to start fights. Sigh.

Even in its peak 2001 form which is quite enjoyable, it's a relatively pedestrian song.
