Having said that, although there were some great shows in 2016 like Houston, Axl hasn't sounded good on Sweet Child O' Mine since... the '90s (or even the '80s)?

Yes, Axl had broken his ankle two songs in. And I guess it wasn't like 1991 anymore, when he could run around and sing his ass off with a broken foot.

I have doubts that Axl wrote it. It doesn't look like his handwriting style at all as we know it from notes, letters, lyrics, etc.. Of course this is spray-painting, but still he has never used lowercase letters or a mix of uppercase and lowercase like this.

I thought both Erin and Stephanie joined forces to take Axl to court over what he supposedly did to them both. I didn’t know Erin was ever on Axl’s side after they split up.

It's a bit weird, yes.

Erin was subpoenaed for Stephanie's case, so she was kind of dragged into it. But then she filed her own lawsuit and she - or at least her legal team - seemed to seek publicity, apparently as a way to get a good out of court settlement (whereas, on the other hand, Stephanie's side supposedly didn't want any kind of publicity). Erin's lawyers issued a press release and set up a press conference, and then hired a high profile PR guy who arranged the interview in People Magazine and made sure it would make the cover. There were no more interviews and press releases after that, though, and both cases were quietly settled out of court (until Spin and Rolling Stone dug up the court documents/depositions in 1999 and 2000).

It's unknown what (if anything) happened in the following years until Erin showed up at the GN'R show in Atlanta in 2011. In 2012 she seconded Axl's C&D letter against a photographer who was about to exhibit a picture of a "hate message" that Axl had supposedly spray-painted on Erin's garage door in the early '90s. And later she implied in conversations with fans on social media that she had been used by Stephanie (I haven't read those comments myself, as she has now shut down her social media or made her accounts private).

The kid was gay and there wasn’t anything sexual going on between he and his mom. They just had a weird mom/gay son relationship. He was also a major tool. Had no idea he died, the last I remember hearing about him was that he goofed on Axl’s looks on Instagram and Erin Everly (!) ripped him a new asshole.

His post Erin reacted to wasn't about Axl's looks. He wished his mom happy birthday using an alleged Axl quote:

That was in 2016. Sadly, he died from an OD last year.

Anyone know what is on this, particularly in terms of interviews?

Apparently there are three tapes in all. This would be great to hear!

Some clips from the interviews have circulated on youtube, e.g.

There used to be more, but can't find them right now. There's a partial transcript, though:

I agree.

Ron admitted that the 2009-14 lineup didn't do anything in the studio. Furthest they got was sending files back and forth to one another.

Edit

Maybe they should do things Doobie Brothers style and have both on drums. lol

Yeah, based on all the quotes from that period it doesn't seem that any more work was done on pre-existing material before 2014 (at least as far as band members were concerned, it's unknown what Axl was doing); after all, they were touring continuously. All they did was pass on ideas for new songs to each other without Axl getting involved.

Looks like it's Brain between Frank and Melissa in the soundcheck video. My guess is that they have kept his drum track on the studio version (obviously from a later version than the one on the Village discs, if it's Oklahoma) so he's been there to help them with the live arrangement (basically to show Frank how to play it). That is probably necessary as it's a more complex song than Absurd.

I would have thought a professional drummer should be able to pick up a gnr song. Not exactly difficult drumming

Agreed, Frank will have known these songs since he contributed parts to CD in 2007/2008 and any recording sessions since then. He's drummed professionally since 1988. Pretty sure he can learn the songs himself. Don't need Brain for that.

I doubt Frank has worked on all the songs that were recorded with Brain. Actually Brain said that after he left, some more songs were "finished" with Frank. So I don't think Axl had Frank re-record all the tracks. I even doubt there were many band recording sessions after 2007. Drums and bass (and Dizzy's parts) were mostly finished before 2006, Bumblefoot recorded what he recorded in 2006/7, and then it was probably mainly Fortus recording on stuff, partially Frank, and probably Pitman adding synths etc.

It's also a bit weird that Brain would be present at soundcheck (and standing next to Frank), if he was there only for Melissa, and they're not even supposed to be dating anymore, but only working together - unless he's been there because he and Melissa have been working on something of their own.

Another - a bit far-fetched - scenario is that Frank is about to step down, maybe because of his recent marriage, so Brain is preparing to take over.

On another (unrelated?) note, Brain was in Brazil with them a few days ago (Dizzy posted a video of him with Brain and Melissa on Instagram) and he's probably still there.
