Agreed completely. The vault for the classic era really doesn't have anything of serious note left to move the needle.
Maybe some unreleased live proshot that they have on film, which means it can be transferred to 4K and look incredible, like the Ritz show from the UYI boxset
Besides that, there really appears to be nothing. If Axl truly is sat on an album + ep's worth of tracks, then Slashifying that is probably where the value is.
They could also try to write and record something new but that won't happen and they may have left it too late if Axl's voice is totally gone.

I'd rather hear him on It's Five O Clock Somewhere than Contraband.
While it's possible Contraband could've been a GNR album in the 2000s, Slash walking away is the only thing that prevented that Snakepit material from being on the next GNR album.
Also it's not an effect on the voice. It's AI generated vocals based on a model of Axl's voice.
And it will only sound better and closer to the real thing as time goes on

If that EP had some actual promo and was an actual EP, not a glorified single, then hardcorea would have bought it.
If they had done a release with:
4 New Tracks (instead of 2 leaked tracks, one that has had cringe school bell effects added and the other being the divisive Silkworms. It needed at least one unleaked track to hype the fan base)
A special edition that included the bonus live tracks + instrumentals
A deluxe edition that included the special edition on CD + Vinyl + some other trinkets like a small book, a couple of merch items
And then if they did some actual promotion for it - Axl doesn't need to lift a finger, just have Slash and Duff do it.
Do all that... and it's better received I think.
But also... how many CDs and vinyl are they expecting to sell in 2021/2022! Even hardcores now, a lot don't buy physical and just stream it. They need to reset their expectations.

Infamous DarkNemus got Maddy from GNRsucks chap Lourenco, the PM chat of there Maddy trade has appeared a few places over the years.
The exec some of you are talking about may be BillyB good luck finding him
Is this him?

Azoff's biggest mistake is not realizing that the shortest path to the reunion was getting the rest of the CD session tracks out of Axl's hands and on store shelves.
Instead he pushed for reunion soon after CD and at the time Axl had other ideas, so out the door he went. If he gets CD2 out in 2010 (plus b-sides?), he could have been the one steering the ship to reunion and being the GNR reunion guy circa 2012/13

I didn't check every venue but at several it's so empty.....you can buy blocks of 8 tickets in the row of your choice.
If one of these shows were today, it'd be verging on a private concert.
Next tour will probably be residencies and festivals.
Seems like the reunion is finally running out of juice. Some of that will be because of inflation and macroeconomics reducing the average person's disposable income but a part of it has to be interest in this fading.
They'll need to downsize their venues or spice up the tour somehow if they want to continue beyond this.

Pretty sure Buckets SR solo was basically just noodling elephant noises. Not much to it.
I’ve heard Fernando gave a bunch of songs to people, have no idea the truth. The major source of leaks came from people at the label. It’s how it fell into the hands of people who didn’t even care what they had., who most likely never even kept them
If memory serves me right, didn't those 2017 leaks of alt mixes of Madagascar and The Blues come from MSL. Think he disclosed he got them from someone who used to/does work at UMG.

So on the talk of the 6 song disc from 08, that's not what I was referring to.
There's the Mike Piazza disc which contained IRS and is supposedly where the 06 leaks of IRS, TWAT, TWAT Long Version and Instrumentals came from. May also be where Better 06 came from but that might have been sourced from Axl playing that disc in a strip club in July 2003.
The disc/tape I was referring to is a way older source than all that shit. Whilst folk freaked a little when the above mentioned tracks came out, it was understandable where they came from.
The older versions of TWAT, IRS and Catcher that leaked in 06... that apparently freaked folk who were hoarding that stuff out at that time. The tape/disc that contained those three is where Razz's Hard School clip came from and apparently also contained Atlas and Prostitute.
There were people who had that shit since the early 00s, some of whom were on the forums. Where they got it? Who knows.
It's been rumored for years that way back when he was younger and more stupid that Fernando shared unreleased tracks with friends in Brazil.
There was a contingent who had some tracks in Portugal too because they were friends with some girls or something who got to backstage at RIR 01. My memory on that detail is hazy, but they were who MSL tricked in 07 IIRC.
Then there's Jarmo.... he's probably got all of it and has had it for a looooooooong time. Meanwhile he has the nerve to go on his forum and tell disgruntled fans to be patient and that the songs will come when the band is ready.
Disclaimer: my memory on the above isn't perfect, feel free to correct any mistakes you see and know about.

monkeychow wrote:I'm confused but I think James was saying there's a second album worth of leftover tracks that also leaked around the time of the Cather/Hardschool leaks in the early 2000s but that is less circulated.
Additionally I think I recall MSL saying he had follow up to CD album pre-reunion around the time he had all Axl's documents/laptop or whatever it was and was threatening to release it himself if the band didn't release some details soon. His deadline came and went and all that happened was he became pro-team brazil and Axl all of a sudden. I can only speculate as to why.
Kinda confusing because to me, "Chinese Democracy II" implies it's the "Stay of Execution" album that was ready to go in the 2010s. If it's a bunch of Chinese Democracy offcuts from the 2000s... haven't we heard that already in the locker leaks? What's new that isn't there?
They never leaked, still hoarded.
So you've got to remember the locker leaks are a snapshot of a snapshot of a snapshot
The source is Tom Zutaut who was in and around the project in 2001. So first snapshot, his discs only contain tracks up to that point. Second snapshot, it's the tracks he requested/was given burnt on to disc and took home. Third snapshot, it's the ones he had and never gave back that he forgot about in a storage locker.
In 06, the same source disc/tape that had the older versions of IRS, TWAt and Catcher also had Hard School, Atlas and Prostitute.
The near complete 2010 version of CD2 is out there somewhere. There are some folk who allegedly have the cover art and back art with the tracklist for CD2 as well. Earlier versions of those tracks exist too from various timeframes.
Big doubt on MSL only having some emails, documents and a tracklist. A tracklist which contained song titles we'd never heard of before that were later confirmed by the leak in 2019.

It's interesting how the fan base seems to go through stages of not knowing that the second album has been in circulation since at least 2008.
In an alternate timeline that is a perfect world...it all comes out during the skwerl leak. In another timeline...it probably leaks around 2011-12.
The GNR hoarders circle is similar to the KISS hoarders circle. It's a small group of people and the circle only gets bigger when money changes hands.
Once in a blue moon, the planets align and the fan base is deemed worthy of hearing some songs.
It would take a lightning bolt from beyond for that album to leak.
GNR doesn't help anything by not releasing anything...the songs retain a certain level of value. On the other hand....leaks speed up releases.
A cosmic joke of a Catch 22.
Didn't one of the main hoarders die a couple years ago?
It's kinda funny(and sick) how they are as sick of CD II as hardcore fans are sick of CD. That's how long they've had it....it's just another album in their collection at this point. I bet most hoarders don't even listen to it anymore.
The really old leaks(the stuff you all have) go back to the early 2000s. That really steamed my bean when I first heard that many moons ago. It meant that amazing, massive community of the mid 2000s on HTGTH and mygnr could have been listening to songs if someone had pulled the trigger.... instead it was all fan fiction and dissecting crappy bootlegs.
The community didn't get anything until one song in 2005(IRS).
CD2 is definitely out there in some form in various folks' hands. Some will have collections of different demos and others probably have the near final mastered 2010 version of the album.
Those leaks in 06 of Catcher and the older versions of TWAT and IRS. That same source was a six song disc/tape transfer that included Hard School, Atlas and Prostitute.
There's been folk in the community who have had those versions of Prostitute, Atlas and Hard School since that mid 00s period. Those versions have still never leaked although they apparently identical/very similar to what was on the 2019 leaks.
Like you say, most who have these tracks have had them for years and are likely bored of them. They've also all probably traded amongst each other for everything that is of value at this point so the only way these now move is for cash, and it's still hard to know who has what to even make those offers.
It would be great to hear any of this some day... But we're now entering the stage where some of these people are gonna start dying and this stuff will rot in their hard drives.
