CD was worth it. If TWAT was all that ever arrived it was worth the $13mil.

Lol, yeah. If you're just a fan and not a CFO/CEO/Controller of a record label.

I'm not convinced anyone cares.

It's goes without saying you want a return on your investment but between the constant shifting of pockets from Geffen to Interscope to UMG and then Azoff recouping the principle on something that's already a sunk cost, I'm sure the suits were happy enough to find $20 in their couch cushions.

I also think Axl spends money like water because he's seen behind the curtain.

I'd rather listen to Finck/Freese leftovers than Slash or Duff solo albums.

It’s like anything else Guns and Chinese related. Riddles, mysteries, and enigmas.

I can see Axl’s point. Slash was running his mouth ‘95 onwards. In the words of the great Jules, “Well, allow me to retort”. But such a precisely felt emotion would be saved for the critical moment, when it could be maximally useful and also clearly expressed.

This is our new band. Beat. These are our new songs. Beat. The record is coming out on X. Beat. The past is the past. Beat. X and Y happened. Beat.

It’s a turn of the century marketing mix. Slow fade-up. Solid enough ideas. But we interpret it through Axl’s now past actions which color the kool-aid.

And I can totally see no one caring, no one wanting to resolve the red tape with the GNR logo, etc. An easy sell for me there.

The counter argument is Axl being one for ideas but not for execution. And him being quite sensitive and his handlers exacerbating problems of many a stripe and color.

But his head was in the game in a lot of this stuff. Just lacked the time, discipline, resources to pull it off. It was decadence on the front half and pinching pennies on the back nine.

And depression seems to loom large over a lot of this, too.

I saw Jagger with the Stones when he was in his 60s. He was energetic, engaged, and sharp as a tack.

He even bantered with the audience here and there.

He went to a local joint before the gig for wine and ravioli.

The point being it’s possible to live it up and still show up for work ready to go. The tour was to promote an under appreciated new album.

And I think the whole thing was unavoidable but Azoff did his damnedest to reunite Slash and Axl, didn’t he?

Yeah I’ve been wondering the same thing

It’s not a promise, a lie, or guarantee.

Just a hunch.

I find it odd he had a trainer/nutritionist in 2016 in that gap between Guns and DC but not much came out of it. And then there’s the Mickey Rourke IG post that came out of nowhere and again nothing came from that either. Speaking of gear, he’s on it for sure.

Axl’s a rockstar but with the depression history, the last thing he should be doing is touching the sauce.

He’d look pretty damn good with better wardrobe, dropping 30, and hitting the weights.

He could do this behind the scenes and come out looking like a demon with an new album come summer.

It’s nice to dream.

If the AFD box does good business, people around the band will be asking for another product.

I'm all for a CD re-release, obviously. I post here.

I mean, I'd even be there if it's just the Red Hand cover and proper artwork and credits (don't get any ideas, record company).

But them going to market with a $1000 (even $300) box set makes me laugh. Doubly so for the poor sods who bought it.

I'm sure they got an unwelcome answer to the question of what the market would bear.

Gotcha.

I guess I’d have to take earliest completed versions then.

And the tracklist was half solid, half fluid according to Canter, so it’d be interesting to know that. It seems it was something different in Axl’s mind in 2001 for example. And of course him regaling the trilogy structure to Baz in 2006/7.
