he gets pissed and blames others for the screw up with the lyrics. forgetting lyrics is no big deal - i've seen Mick Jagger, Bruce and others forget lyrics. it should be something you just laugh off.

why get pissed? i'm guessing cause it hurts the show. but then he spends the next 2 songs pouting and putting no effort into the performance, which.....hurts the fuckin show!

#82 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N' Roses Live From Rock In Rio » 745 weeks ago

that was not a great performance. i thought the band was good, although they seemed uninspired. aside from all the problems, there was just an energy missing from the show. i really believe that was due to the weather though (and maybe the shitty feed). they sounded great on some of the challending songs that haven't sounded too good in the past. and they nailed Estranged.

as for Axl, his vocals and performance were poor overall. after getting the rasp back and hearing him sound great for most of 2006-2010, it was disappointing to hear him go back to the 2002 sound.

he was really out of breath early and was trying to overcome that (and the rain). but then he started hitting a nice stride on estranged and TIL. he sounded good at other times as well.

i don't think this is a disaster though. i have even more confidence in this band now. the fact that Axl had the rasp at various times during the show tells me that he will continue to sound better as they get more shows under their belt.

this was in no way shape or form a "return" or an opportunity to show the world they are back. they just got done touring the world very successfully 10 months ago. all that's left is the U.S. and this show will not impact the upcoming tour at all. they have a bunch of S.A. dates coming up soon and how that tour overall goes will be more telling for prospects of success or failure for the U.S. tour.

yes, DM in 2009. my bad.

but Axl is still in the band. he shouldn't give up playing his old material because a tiny handful of forum posters feel the new band should earn their stripes on the songs they actually appear on (obviously, that doesn't apply to ashba). GnR plays a decent amount of material from their latest album, in line or more than what most bands do.

it really just comes off as people just trying to find something to bitch about.

but i agree with you that i would rather they dive deeper into the older material. still, i don't know what songs i would give up. we would all have different opinions and they do a good job of including a set list that is probably the most appealing to the majority of people. but again, this is true of almost every band i see....there's almost always a few changes to the set list i would make at just about every show i go to. totally normal.

if you were a promoter in the U.S., how would you promote the tour? they are doing what they believe will help sell the most tix. same as any other band.

as for the venues, this isn't just Axl's call. the promoters have a financial interest and they must not consider the previous tour a failure or they would not be booking a tour at the major venues again. and if the show near your town doesn't sell all that well, that's good for you since you will get better seats. 9

as for the set list, i expect a similar set list to their 2010 shows. about 5-7 songs from their most recent album....i'd say that's the average for most bands. metallica was playing about 6 songs from st. anger when they toured that in 2009, and back in 2003-2004 they were playing less than that from St. Anger.

I do think that. I thought i made that perfectly clear. And because of that fact, i wouldnt go supporting any group or giving money to a movement to have them thrown back in jail. I don't understand how anyone can be convinced either way and actually help the cause.

Also, there are many other cases where there is FAR more evidence of individuals innocence that people could have supported (and still can support) if they truly were concerned about people being unfairly incarcerated.

#86 Re: The Garden » West Memphis three to be released » 751 weeks ago

I read alot of case docs a few years back and read lots of opinions. I have always been close to 50-50, but leaning slighty towards them being guilty.

You guys present great info and i am still probably 55-45 leaning towards guilty.

One thing that i've been wondering....did miskelley mention the boys being tied with rope on his own??? Because this point is always used by wm3 supporters as evidence that he was lying. But i feel that if he knew they were tied up at all, that would be  evidence that he was telling the truth. That is a very specific detail that you wouldnt expect anyone to guess. Even if he got the "tool" wrong (which a semi-slow person might do a few weeks later), to me, knowing that fact (that they were tied up) is huge.

Anyway, i dont understand how or why anyone with any kind of intelligence could be absolutely convinced of their innocence. There are some doubts, even if u call them minor doubts, that they r innocent. Their innocence just is not proven. It is far from a fact. And with that in mind, how can people support them and help with the release of individuals that MAY be guilty.

Part of me is just thinking "holy shit. Murderers may have just been set free." And if i had a hand in that (financially, for example), i would be feeling sick right now.

in NY in 2002, he came on at least an hour "early." a full hour before the "normal" usual start time of the shows. i drove through a freakin blizzard from south jersey and drank in a bar with my buddy. told him we still had a half an hour and were totally playing it safe. thank god he convinced me to head in a little earlier than planned to play it "extra safe" cause as soon as we got to our seats it started.

that's one thing that bothers me about the late starts....you never really know. i don't care if you come on at 1am, as long as i know in advance.

#88 Re: Guns N' Roses » Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement" » 759 weeks ago

just to clarify...this board doesn't blow because of the negativity. i thought i was clear that that this place used to be great because of just that - you could be negative and have honest discussions.

this board blows because there's very little originality. people post the same shit in every thread. it just gets boring. there should just be an "axl hates touring" thread, and you guys can go have a field day in there and count the number of shows Axl has played in the last 5 years.

neemo is a fair-minded dude, and he agrees with me so i think we have at least somewhat of a valid point.

i haven't checked this board in weeks (maybe months). i heard about the settlement and touring agreement, combined with the SA shows being announced. so i'm kinda pumped (all pretty good news), i come here to check out the discussion with fellow GnR fans, and i see the same ridiculous shit being posted that's been posted here for years. it made me laugh, but it was a let-down at the same time. i saw someone else state exactly how i was feeling and i agreed. just stating my opinion regarding how much this board blows.

everyone's "theories" are so played out and predictable. I could almost post word for word your comments BEFORE you post them...blah blah blah.

The case is settled and that is a GOOD thing for the Gnr brand-whether it be Axl's orchestra or a potential reunion down the road. The brand needs Azoff and Live Nation in their corner.

haha! i couldn't agree more! you are 100% correct. it's really a shame what this board has turned into. i used to check it out alot because you could have honest discussions. and people would bring well-thought opinions.

now it's just a place to make up negative shit about axl and the band, and then discuss as if that shit is fact.

doesn't anyone in here get sick of posting the same shit over and over?

hopefully when things pick up for the band again, the vibe on this board will improve.
