Hang on a minute. People are completely writing off the possibility of him coming back when the one time he has apparently been asked directly he didn't say 'no'. To think that he wouldn't be open to re-commiting and touring to support FOUR album's worth of stuff he's worked on is silly. Even Bucket has said as recently as 2006 that he might rejoin if and when the whole thing actually starts. Robin's message to us after Rio 2004 was cancelled was that he cannot wait 'ultimately to tour and tour'. When he stagedived at Hammerstein 2006 and was carried round the pit he told Axl when he got back up 'I live for that'. He was extremely affectionate towards Axl in those shows and over the following  two tours whilst on stage. There are stacks of pics of Robin hanging out all over the world with the whole band. Remember the pics from Robin's birthday? They all know oneanothers' families and kids. They were a very close unit by the end the 2007 tour.

But since the beginning Robin hasn't been one to hang out with the others during downtime. Tommy, Dizzy, Richard and Pitman do and often play together or on eachothers' projects. Bucket and Brain were seperate. And Robin was seperate. It's not weird that he's not in direct contact with all of them so long after the last tour.

If the record did come out this year and a tour was booked for early 2009, it isn't out of the question at all that Robin would come back. Whether Bucket would even be asked now Ron has settled in is another matter but still.

I agree....sometimes i even change the station when it comes on.

its so repetitive, never been a fan...maybe because everyone else raves about it so much? I dunno

I love the first half of it but the repetitive wanking and chanting outro shit bores me. I hate it getting dragged out live and I hate it being the last song. I'd rather Nightrain closed the show or a little surprise like Don't Cry popped up after.

Is there any chance of having some kind of system in ones profile to just add others' usernames.

Sometimes I like to just quickly read through the posts of my favourite members rather than the whole board. The only alternative is adding their profiles to your explorer faves tab.

Nice pun, madagas.

I was more or less making fun of all the arguments about the spelling through the years.

On the set list, as Neemo points out. Rock isn't known for its spelling aficionados. Def Leppard? Motley Crue? Are you gonna be pissed if Axl spells it like that on CD?

Yeah but it's a fact that Axl's a hell of a lot more writery than your average rocker. He's probably up there with Bruce Dickinson as one of the intellectual rockers, people just don't see it because of all the crazy shit that goes with. Remember the OMG press release from 1999? That was more complex than anything I read for A-Levels! I will be very surprised if it isn't spelleed Riyadh.

1.  IRS
2.  Madagascar
3.  Silkworms
4.  (Love Is) A Bitchslap
5.  Riyadh and the Bedouins
6.  If the World
7.  Chinese Democracy
8.  There Was a Time
9.  Message for You
10. Back in the Saddle
11. Stuck Inside
12. Oh My God
13. Catcher in the Rye
14. The Blues
15. Better

That's insane to look at. It's so weird to think that we've actually got all this shit. Remember back in march 2004 when we were getting a release date within 3 months and we had OMG and Silkworms? Man.

16) Oh My God (Live at RIR 2001)

Yuck!

18) Axl Speech (Osaka 2007)

Tokkkyyyoooo! errr....Osaaakaaaa! That was embarassing. I'm an idiot.

To Axl S: What's Axl's speech at Osaka 2007 all about? Haven't heard that, sounds interesting. smile

It's at the end of the show. He just thanks everyone who supported them on the 2007 leg of the tour and talks about releasing CD although all he says is he "wants to get this motherfucker out."

Yeah except that was before 'I don't know if soon is the word' and the 2006 Bucket interviews where apparently Bucket said it was Axl's plan/assumption all along that he wouldn't get the first album out for years. In 2006 Bucket said it would be 2008. I wonder how much truth there is in that and whether the band were/are aware.

OK well it seems unanimous that CD is first track on most peoples lists....However... if we have to wait fourteen years for an album, then fuckers, we want a goddamned box set - nothin' less. We want every version of every track on its own disc.  So disc One will be every version known to man of Chinese Democracy, including the Radio Shack recorder version of Ax in his bedroom alone with the acoustic guitar. Disc number two is every version of Rhiad. Mean it. We waited long enough we want every version. Even Tom Zutauts. We want specific artwork for each disc and song. We want a poster, and board schematics from the studio. We want it sold in a KFC bucket. We want Ax's hand written diary of the whole project. Personally signed - not done by that forging jerk Goldstein [my copy of Ravioli Incident is apparently worthless, and I know someone who lost a breast due to it being a phony signature.] I want a map of the world showing where every leak has gone to and come from. Screw the cost of this we have been saving for fourteen years. Charge what you like. Stack it next to Hannah Montana. We'll be there. And then we want to be able to put whatever song in which ever version from which ever disc in which ever order we chose on whatever day. We want to exercise true Chinese Democracy.

LMFAO! That's hilarious and I concur! I want the fucking studio blueprints too. The first 1000 gnronline preorders should come with a piece of the chicken coop and smell like the dog shit Bucket left on the studio floor for a week. And the next 50 preorders should come with a sweaty football jersey worn by Axl on the 2002 tour plus a set of his horrible white sneakers and a single hair braid.

Mr Winkler, Mr Mole, please chill! I only just came here and it's a little slice of heaven with brains compared to the garbage I've been ploughing through for the last 8 years. I know you can keep it above the belt. One long post that is disagreeable and flawed is a hell of a lot better than 20 idiots posting 'i fink it sux thers no tune'.

#87 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR's 'Democracy' To Be Retail Exclusive? » 879 weeks ago

Are you guys discussing MSL's latest?

the events of the last week have really changed the GNR landscape when it comes to the hoarding of information and material. the more fernando attacked me, the more people i had emailing in to say that they'd received songs from him in the past. the more azoff threatened journalists, the more people i had emailing in with stories their editors were prohibiting them from writing.

i've had to sit on this story a day or two longer than i would have liked as it took quite a bit of time to double source the facts. however, after speaking to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, mistersaintlaurent.com is pleased to report the following:

the current intended release date for CHINESE DEMOCRACY is november 25, 2008. it is azoff's strong preference that the release be done through best buy and not wal-mart. i've been told his reasoning is two-fold. #1, azoff's goal is to be able to create future bidding wars between the two retail giants for his other acts and feels best buy will lose interest in these type of promotions if they always lose out to wal-mart. #2, if he goes with wal-mart, he has to convince axl to swap a couple of tracks from volume 1 with tracks from the other volumes to avoid the dreaded parental advisory warning.

i was also told that the story was leaked by azoff to put pressure on best buy to up their offer and close the deal. it's no coincidence that this story hit right before wal-mart's AC/DC deal was finally publically announced. it is azoff's hope that fear of ending up with egg on their face will force best buy to roll out the red carpet in every imaginable way for chinese democracy.

Ha ha no way!

That's my favourite cut off Fine Art, espcially the awesome live electric version that comes crashing in after the first verse.

Nice Izzy site btw.

I'm exactly the same way. Love anything and everything I can hear from the band.

PS...welcome aboard, we always welcome more intelligent posters!

Cheers man.

Someone mentioned something about the re-record being when Axl's voice wasn't so great. I don't agree. Just because he was weak in 01-02 in live shows doesn't mean the voice wasn't there in the studio. We know it was not only from the 1999 leaks but from the overdubbed studio vocals of Live Era songs including Rocket Queen, Sweet Child and Estranged which are stunning.

I actually have a theory that the Live Era overdubs are possibly just the re-recorded Appetite vocals pasted on, or at least takes from those sessions and if you listen to the vocal on Live Era Sweet Child and then Big Daddy sweet Child they sound identical. I've mentioned this before on other forums and nobody has teken any notice.
