I meant Insomnia, not Identity.

Yeah it's not a very good decade.  You can sense the trouble ahead for the industry.

I just remembered one I might have included... Million Dollar Baby.

I had forgot Oldboy. I need to watch that again.

I had forgot Audition was 1999...not 2000.

I probably would've squeezed it in somehow. That movie is amazing...it got me into Asian horror back in the 2000s.

A Simple Plan - I love this... probably Paxton's best film. Great cast and story.

I noticed something now that I didn't back in the day.

On the surface, all 3 guys fuck up the plan, especially the two losers.

In reality, Bridget Fonda is the one who ruins everything. Paxton tells her immediately, and she starts telling him what to do each step of the way until everything unravels.

Also been watching a bunch of the 1980s Alfred Hitchcock Presents. A great show. It has a bunch of stars and soon to be stars in it.

Has anyone noticed they don’t sell Chinese on their official site but they sell that half assed Appetite for Democracy video?

Yep...other than performing a handful of CD tracks, they've acted like the CD era never existed since day one of the reunion.

I don't think it's going to change.

So, the schedule seems to be:

January-April 2024: SMKC tour in support of "4".

Summer 2024 (?): Slash solo album release and tour / Possibly new solo album/EP by Duff.

Fall 2024: Duff solo tour / Recording of next SMKC album.

2025: Release and tour (?) in support of new SMKC / GN'R tour (?)

This is all the confirmation I need that my theory was on the right track.

2024 a silent year followed by a 2025-27 anniversary/AFD anniversary/farewell tour.

I disagree about pretending CD never existed. In Axl's 2016 interview he said he enjoys performing the CD songs the most. At the last show in 2017 they played 8 CD songs, and with SOD being played intermittently now that's 9/14 songs total from the album they've played. Not to mention there are 3 CD songs (from the album, not live versions from NITL) included in the 2020 GNR pinball machine. If there was ever a place to ignore CD that would have been in it, since it's Slash's baby. Hardly forgotten.

Go to the official site and try to buy anything related to CD or new GNR. After that, scroll through their social media channels for new GNR.

You won't find anything.

They can play a few songs live til the cows come home or throw on some pinball machine no one will buy or play but it doesn't change the fact this era isn't being acknowledged or celebrated.

Hell...they initially tried to market Perhaps as a brand new song from Axl, Slash, and Duff.

Needless to say I think a lot of negative opinions come from expectations that we as hardcore fans needlessly put on these tracks. If we hadn't heard prior versions or quotes by drunken washed up rockstars, opinions on these tracks would probably be very different.

It's not just the unnecessary hype of the tracks that killed it for hardcore fans....it's the insane passage of time.

We first heard about The General and Leave Me Alone/Soul Monster/Monsters in 2002. ...and the songs were only instrumentals at the time. Yes...a hype train rolling for instrumentals.  18

That second batch of Chinese songs never should've been mentioned until closer to completion and after CD was released. Unfortunately, the project required hype to keep the hardcore base interested enough to keep buying tickets.

Fans had to wait until fall 2023.

No one complained about the Hardskool mix or the Perhaps solo lol.

A few things....

Most people don't complain about mixes/mastering of songs in a casual setting and in many cases, not at all.

The way a lot of new music sounds nowadays and how people listen(earbuds on a smartphone), it's not as abrasive as it is to either audiophiles or people listening on actual stereos. Some people just don't give a shit either way.

Unfortunately I'm not one of those people. I listen to a fuck ton of Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, and Soundgarden and when going from that to these leftovers, the contrast and abrasiveness is off the charts.

Only extreme hardcores know anything about the rough mixes, old solos, or even the CD lineups. Nobody else cares.

And

You don't have to be an extreme audiophile to realize there are huge issues with the first song while the second sounds sublime.

I just checked the video.

It only has 736k views in two weeks.

They have 11.8 million subscribers.

Horrific stats.
