I really am enjoying this track. The lyrics mean so much to me, definitely embodying a deeper concept than the embittered path of unrequited love which has served as a foundation for most of the new material. I appreciate the new thoughts.
This song, which I think is most likely Prostitute, is also a builder. The orchestration kicks in during the second verse and Axl's lyrics explode. 'What Would You Say If I Told You That I'm To Blame? And What Would You Do If I Had To Deny, Your Name?'. A great line, executed wonderfully.
my thoughts exactly KV - parts of this song have that Estranged type, hair standing on the back of your neck moments for me
Good to see you here too btw - this place is really the only place to post now

so have they actually been in touch asking to ban specific people?
#893 Re: Guns N' Roses » "Chicken Dinner" Shackler's Revenge Leak » 895 weeks ago
this monster has really grown on me - the melodies reveal themselves slowly and the guitars just kill - a kind of nightmareish vibe to it
Am starting to think this isnt such a bad choice for 1st single - its sure not your Fathers GNR.. but the second single is probably the one they want to really hit the mainstream with - Prostitute or Blues perhaps( or hopefully something that trumps them both)
if CD is released, there will be enough press and curiosity value to sustain sales for the short-meium term, it will come down to the second single to really solidify it as a GNR style success IMO

wow.....
hated it initially (first 3 listens or so) but people are right that it's a grower - cool song, def growing on me
not convinced this is the song to launch this thing and would like Axls vox on the chorus a little more prominent.
There sure is a hell of a lot of things going on guitar wise, and it's rather a muddy tyoe of mix in parts
im just sceptical that this could be OMG all over again
PS: I see Nesquick is ripping it a new one over at mygnr

can someone please refresh my memory and remind me what this dude has done in the past? was he the wrestler who leveraged off the Portugese hoarders?

so what do we think is gonna happen here? A leak of SR? or CD?
And why do you all seem so confident?

After having listened to it fairly solidly over the last 2 months or so, I can safely say that it is the best new Guns song I have heard (it succeeds where TWAT fails).
My opinion obviously, but along with Better and CITR (I used to feel the Blues was up there too, but it has lost a little something for me), this is clearly the strongest.
It really builds nicely, is melodic and heavy in parts. Axl delivers one of his stronger performances I feel, and the part where he talks about 'Fortune and shame" gives me goose bumps. This is what I imagined when I thought of what this band should sound like.
Why the indifference? Is it because BH plays a relatively minor role? I don't get it - to me, easily the strongest track in their canon is staring us in the face and people see decidely non-plussed?
The song does nothing for me on any level. The current CD disc in my car doesn't even have the track on it. When Ezrin told Axl he had "three songs", I'm pretty sure that this wasn't one of the three.
Doesn't have anything to do with a lack of Bucket to me. I consider CITR one of Axl's finest moments and its just an old demo that predates Bucket.
Whether its Prostitute or not, I hope its not on the album.
I do agree with you about The Blues. It has lost its impact over time.
can I ask what it is particularly about the song that you dislike so much?
