Do you think GN'R will release any new music in 2017?

It's so discouraging reading Apex's posts about timelines of the songs.
Imagine them actually releasing the album in 2002. The what-if scenarios depress me.

The 99 album is so interesting.
Those early leaks sound so good. Very classic GNR.

Tomb Raider 2013 or the one from last year? I never played the one last year but I dug 2013 quite a bit.
I'm not very excited about Last of Us Part II. I wanted new characters if they were going to do a sequel. I'll keep an open mind though.

It will likely just be downtime but there are 4 months of "off time" over the next year.
Dec 16 - Jan 17
Mar 17 - May 17

There's no problem with being more abstract and indirect, the problem is that Axl either repeats thematic material or it's incomprehensibly written.
The entire record is about love lost, Axl scorned, and personal redemption. 14 songs, three themes.
His direct first person style is less lucid than his work on UYI and his metaphors are extremely on the nose.
This problem isn't even discussed if the album is more cohesive and not held to the impossible standards it was subjected to.
It doesn't help the title track is a limp noodle.

I can't deny that this sounds good / of the era but it doesn't really do much for me.

AFD is their best album by a mile but it does nothing for me today.
The 2002 band is my favorite band of all time so I obviously I want to hear more of the CD Era songs unadulterated.
I just hope I don't have to wait for Axl to kick the bucket to hear them.
Lyrically Axl was n`t at his best on CD while there are some brilliant pieces like Catcher, overall his lyricism on the album left more to be desired.
I agree about the lyrics but for the reason that his desire to be more abstract makes him up his ass and incomprehensible.
The title track of the album is my go to case. Is it about depression, oppression, the Chinese government? Blame what on the Falun Gong? Fuck off.

CD is a perfectly fine album, 3 great songs, and the rest is interesting.
The overproduction and mixing is godawful however. It feels lifeless which is a shame because the songs are good.
What I don't like about CD is that it's merely a compilation of material. Nothing is cohesive. That's something they need to rectify with the next one.

The deadline for me is Fall 2017.
If we don't hear about the idea of new music by then, it's never coming.
I don't buy the economics of music argument. Springsteen makes bank and he records while touring, releases new music every 2 years, and repeats.
Axl seemed to have some sort of ambitious machiavellian plan releasing 3 albums back in 2001, now he has everything he needs to actually do it.
