I read this thread, cooked up a good reply and suddenly time had run by and the whole place was covered in smoke. I wanted to make eggs and bacon.

Submission is not my cup of tea. But I do believe in the software of the Universe, divine or not. I think if you follow the laws they/it have decided you can make for a better life. What those laws actually are is impossible to determine, but that's all part of the plan I think. Going into the unknown not knowing.

This quote from Luther is probably what best defines my personal philosophy:

How can a priest, or any man, decide what is between me and my god?

There is no right or wrong without the individual, and only he personally can decide what that actually is. Judgement is instant.

Martin Luther, what a man, what a rebel.

Say what you will about the tenants of national socialism, dude, at least it's an ethos.

It's not really about that.

You don't 'belive' in atheism. You're mixing it up. Atheism isn't equal to a God. It's not the same.

When asked if I believe in God by Christians I usually ask them in return:

"Do you believe in Thor? Odin? The Greek Gods? The Egyptian Gods? The Hindu Gods?"

Very likely they say "of course not, don't be silly".

Then I say:

"Oh good then, we're the same you and me, I just include that last God into what I don't believe in".

Only thing difference between an atheist and a Christian is the God Yaweh. They believe in "him", and we/them don't.

I don't like to label myself athiest, as I like to believe in what I believe in and not follow any specific idea, but as I don't believe in the God called Yaweh, the Christian God, I guess I'm an athiest.

I view it more simple.

Religious = Yes there is a god. (Insert name or name(s) here) 100% know it to be true.

Agnostic = not sure. There might be. There might not be. Who the fuck knows.

Atheiest = 100% sure that there is no god.

For myself, I can't 100% conclude either for or against any particular religion, so I live in that middle agnostic band.

I wouldn't be surprised if there did turn out to be more to existance than we realise, but most of the orginised religions seem too man-made or at least influenced to me so for that reason I go with the "how would I know" and just do my best to be a decent guy.
