Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
^ I gotta agree there Monkeychow. Watching them perform their Black Ice concert, you virtually didn't notice their age at all. They certainly didn't seem like crusty old dudes desperately clinging to something that had long since passed them by.
That said not all bands obviously age so well and some defintely are cringe worthy and look like sad, old, slow and fat caricatures of themselves.
But I don't think Axl falls into the too old category yet, he can still pull it off within limits. However, he would wanna get a wriggle on with whatever he might want to do because it's certainly a potential factor at some point.
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
age isn't an issue, songwriting talent is. Dylan has reinvented his career on artistic and "popular" merit in every decade since the 60's. Every time people think he is done, he puts out one record that defies logic. It's out there if Ax and "Gnr" really want it. You just have to have focus and confidence. Dylan won some, lost some, and in the end, is the fucking man because he dictated his own course.

^ Exactly. And whatever else people want to say about Axl I'll always believe in his songwriting ability.

I think he is. His voice is still great, but he tries to run around and that's when it all goes to shit. Gasping for air, 50 pounds overweight, etc.

Yeah, it's unlikely, but imagine how magnificent it'd be if they played 14 Years with Izzy singin' different lyrics... The reunion pressure would be bigger on Axl than ever.
It would destroy current GN'R. Destroy it.
Axl would probably even consider suing for lost wages.
All of that publicity, not to mention 98% of it praising everyone else and bagging on Axl, promoters wouldn't touch a new Guns with a 10-foot pole in any country in the world.
He'd have to reunite or fade away for another several years. And by then, he'd be too old. It'd be like John Fogerty today calling his solo band "Creedence Clearwater Revival".

Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
Yeah see i'm trying to visualise on what terms they could peform that would be acceptable to everyone.
Like if new GNR peforms - old GNR doesn't - cant see the HOF going for that.
If they did a one off reunion peformance - it would totally fuck with the new line up. They already cop shit from the public but this would maginify their issues like 10000 times.
Or they could do like some kind of hybrid. Like new GNR does a track, then VR or some other non-axl entity with the others does a track. But even so seems odd. Not sure the HOF would allow it or the general audience. If any of them peform people are going to want them to peform together.
Unless like Axl no-shows it entirely...and then the rest of the band appear...and maybe just slash does a rendition of sweet child with myles and the rest don't play (They avoid full axl-less GNR experiences - remember steven's gig with Izzy and Duff and Slash refused to play)
Seems the only way out of it would be like having someone famous do a tribute to them while they looked on. So like Axl and Slash are sitting in the audience and give seperate speaches. Then like Avenged Sevenfold play a GNR medley or something along those lines.

It would be a good time to release some of the details in those emails....especially the second album ones.
22. January 2007 Geffen Records contract for Second Album
48. January 2008 Axl email about how many albums to release (part 1)
49. January 2008 Axl email about how many albums to release (part 2)
99. January 2008 Axl email about which songs should be on second album
29. June 2010 Caram Castanzo email about bonus tracks & second album
26. January 2011 Caram Castanzo email complaining about back pay
No offense to you Madagas, but while I'll believe that MSL has something, I do not for one second trust him as far as what exactly he has and whether or not it is what he says it is. After what Jamester said about MSL spinning an e-mail from Beta on how best to approach Axl into how to "trick" Axl, I don't trust the descriptions of MSL's stolen e-mails.
Ali
Those above were pretty much verified by Jamester, who said there was only one thing that looked fishy and could have possibly been doctored in his opinion, but basically everything was legit. MSL was lying about what some of the emails ACTUALLY said, though. Trying to twist them to make them sound juicier and more controversial.

Slash already said he's going to be there regardless (from That Metal Show). Steven will be there. There's a good chance Duff will be there if Slash is. That leaves Izzy and Axl as the wild cards. I don't think Axl will go unless the new guys are inducted and then there's that whiole thing about being in the same room as Slash.

Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
^ I'm sure Slash, Steven and Duff will GO..but that doesn't mean they'd peform as GNR even if Izzy shows.
They'd make an apperance...but it might be like at Steven's gig where they'll only play together if at least 2/5 of the old band are not on stage.
Playing as 4/5 GNR sans Axl would kill any future reunion in a way that their other actions seem to avoid.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of them played as part of an all-star line up or something though.

Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
I think they will show but won't play.
Still the idea of the old band minus Axl doing '14 years' with Izzy singing...wow!!
Axlin is right, it would instantly vaporize Axl's posse and send the fans worldwide wild with excitement again.
15 years of plotting and planning by Axl, fried in three minutes of rock n roll!!!
