Re: RRHoF Discussion (Izzy/Slash/Axl Press Statements)
This happens in failed relationships all the time. How many actually are able to stay friends? Especially if someone blames you, sues you, tells everyone that you suck and failed them.....
I've followed Slash's post-Guns career pretty closely and read a lot of interviews he did, and I mean a LOT. And his words about Axl were never that bad. And even when he criticized him, he'd almost always back it up with a statement about how talented Axl was, and how he still held him in high regard.
Izzy has said MUCH worse about Axl in interviews than Slash ever did, and yet Axl still speaks to Izzy. Go figure...

Get these new guys into a studio and kick our asses with some new music or shut the fuck up with your excuses.
What a fuckin pathetic old man Axl Rose is. To NOT accept this award is an insult to the fans that made him and the rest of the guys millionaires. And it's that same success that even allows him to tour in any version of Guns N' Roses that exists today.
I never thought I'd say this, but a big FUCK YOU Axl Rose.
Fucking pathetic.
What was your opinion of the two lawsuits Slash and Duff fired at Axl a few years back. The first alleged that Axl's current partnership and $20mil publication deal should be nullified, effectively taking the name from him. The second was an allegation of theft and fraud when ASCAP deposited funds into Axl's Black Frog publication arm by mistake.
I don't know the back story to that, but it can't have been so bad, as Axl is ok with Duff and he was involved
And if Axl is refusing to go forward with the new band (something he thinks a one off reunion will further hinder), I don't think that he is any more deserving of the name 'Guns N' Roses' than Slash and Duff are.

That is a big assumption. Duff and Axl spoke. There is a great chance that Duff apologized for participating. Perhaps they were Slash driven suits. I really don't know b/c none of us were privy to the conversation.
I argue that these suits are one of the most significant obstacles to a reconciliation b/c they threatened to soil Axl's reputation and take his livelihood.
Slash has made some terrible statements about Axl over the course of the last 15 years. Lies about the band's breakup, rumor mongering on Axl's progress on Chinese (remember the 'only two songs are done' bullshit), and, of course, lying about his midnight visit.

I wonder if Duff really dropped Slash in the shit when he spoke with Axl. It doesnt appear that Slash and Duff are quite as close since Slash turned his back on VR and did his solo thing.
Maybe Duff blabbed a few truths about Slash or even deflected some of his own previous actions and blamed them on Slash? Just a thought.

It is not about "deserving" the name. It is legally his and will always be his. The name issue has NOTHING to do with Axl being a jackass once again.

This above is also a big assumption.

Probably, but this is also an assumption.

I agree with you that none of really know the facts, so these assumptions are just that.

Like I said, as bad as anything Slash has said was (and it wasn't), he almost always backed it up with mentioning Axl's great talents.
I have many Slash interviews in guitar magazines and various other music mags from over the years after he split, and I stand by that.
And the things you're pointing out as obvious reasons for Axl's hatred, are in no way as bitter and vile as the shit Izzy said about him.

True, but I think if Axl wanted to continue as GN'R he should move forward with his lineup who all seem more than willing to do so.
If not, stop blaming the spotlight on past members for his own lack of progress.
