It's really fucked up. I know porn star, Bree Olson did an interview saying she's getting herself checked out ASAP. She dated him for around a year and a half. Dude's an asshole.
She was on Stern the same day Charlie made his big reveal. She said she was getting threats and nasty comments slung her way that she gave the virus to Charlie. She did get tested and it came back negative and she was obviously not too happy with Sheen. She said they had sex practically every day for a year. Unprotected when she wasn't ovulating, otherwise with lamb skin condoms which only prevent pregnancy and not STD's. He assured her he was clean and had a full time on call doctor administering care for him, but not her obviously.
In his defense, he claims that he didn't find out he was HIV positive until after they broke up, but Bree doesn't buy that and claims she can prove it. I felt real bad for her listening to the interview. Not many people are going to side with the adult film star over the Emmy Award winning actor.

I would rather have HIV than Cancer. Cancer is the worst killer in this country in my opinion. I know so many people that have died from Cancer.
I agree. There is a three part cancer series on Netflix (I believe it's a PBS production.) It's 6 hours between all three episodes, but man do they cover it all. I'll be honest, it's difficult not to be scared after watching it, and some of the stories are tough to watch (especially the kids.)
The only thing we can do is take care of ourselves. Diet, exercise, proper sleep and so on. The older you get the more strict you have to get about it too, which is the exact opposite of what you'll want to do, haha. Sugar is also proving to be a killer...bigtime (cancer, heart disease, diabetes etc you name it.)
Cramer I got that Frontline episode on Netflix after reading your post, my gosh, what a tough watch. I had to stop it after about 30 minutes the first night. Just sad to see these people just captured by some new, unknown disease. And I knew alot of us (me included) tend to think on some level 'Well you gotta be careful out there'. But I always like to come up with analogies & image if it was discovered that alot of microbrewed beer tended to have some foriegn, parasitic baceria in it, which when a decent amount is consumed over time can cause & trigger a new unstoppable virus similar to HIV/AIDS. Or cell phones. 10-20 years from now alot of people would say "Well duhhhh, why drink random, unregulated beers" or "Why talk on wireless phones so much".
There's a scene, you may not remember specifically, where a nurse recollects working in SF in that era, and a young man who had pretty advanced AIDS asked if he was ever going to get better (seemed to know he wasn't). She stated that no, there wasn't going to be a cure, so the only option is to continue with whatever weak treament he was on (and failing), or stop taking his meds. He chose to stop, then said "Well I guess this is goodbye" but she said the way he said it, it was like he was saying goodbye to his life. And being gay & having AIDS in 1983, alot of these people no longer were in touch with their families, and/or their families didn't want to visit them. So he was ready to just die alone on some crummy, bedpan ridden clinic bed.
Difficult to watch, but does seem really good & informative trace to the beginnings of AIDS/HIV. Its not just a big sob story tho either, it delves into the government reaction as well as the technical/science behind it in determining what it is/isn't, what causes it and how does it spread (sex, semen, blood, coughing/sneezing) and a big concern was developing testing for it, positively & negatively, mostly for the blood donor & transfusion programs, and that took time.

Damn. That documentary sounds pretty good.
Cramer mentions having difficulty watching it because of kids. While I don't have kids, I now have difficulty with that sort of material. Years ago I could read about serial killers, Holocaust,etc. and none of it bothered me(you know what I mean) but now when I read or watch material that starts in on children suffering, murdered,etc. it is disturbing.
Not sure if its because I'm older, no longer in a continuous drug haze, or a combination of the two but something caused it.
