Re: The United Kingdom General Election, 2nd May 2024
I've seen others on the news say this too recently. This unfortunately is not a unique view.
If it was up to Vince from Hull, a fence should divide England from Scotland following the EU result #BrexitBritain https://t.co/Rq5VExlUCj

Shit. While that is funny, more than that it's sad, telling & indicative of the climate we're in. That video tells you so much about what's going on.
That guy's not to blame. I can't really be angry with him. I do think his absurd notions are misdirected, but I can't blame him. My aunt is still adamant she was right in voting out cause it will stop the Turks coming over. Rational thought abandoned some people a long time ago.
We've all let the whole fuckin thing get away from us.
More to be pitied than laughed at.
Still.. If you can't laugh then what have you got? Fuckin misery is what..

Considering the inquiry today, Blair wanting a second referendum isn't going to help.
Re: The United Kingdom General Election, 2nd May 2024
Blair's capacity for lying is still supreme & monumental. A horrific specimen.
I don't think he's particularly evil, tho certainly loathesome & possibly really idiotically stupid.
He has an amazing capacity for lying.
He was a weak shill for Bush/US & culpable for an unspeakably, enormous injustice. He should be in The Hague & his cell mate should be Bush. Hell they should both be on the end of a rope.
Some kind of empty historical justice has come today. Some kind of justice for David Kelly, for the thousands of US & UK soldiers who died without cause & for the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who died as the result of heartless, crazed, twisted men. An utterly shameful episode in the history of both countries, without any semblance of justification.
But we knew all this before it even happened.
They won't be brought to answer for their crimes. They're just getting richer and richer off the back off them.
Re: The United Kingdom General Election, 2nd May 2024
This is the most I've watched BBC News in such a long time.
The spectre of the Iraq War and Blair's obsession with standing side by side with the Americans is all over it and alot of those politicians that voted for this are all still in power today.
The chain events afterwards and the destabilization of the middle east. I just don't get why Blair/Bush are the only ones held accountable, they have made the decisions, but what about the people who voted for this that are still there today?
Re: The United Kingdom General Election, 2nd May 2024
Why is it European members only when us Europeans have been commenting on American politics on here for years?
I think (seriously hope) that title is supposed to be a bit tongue in cheek, of course this discussion shouldn't be Europeans only. Although I will say that, in my experience, Europeans are typically more aware of American politics than Americans are of European politics... .

I don't want this to be a Trump discussion or about Islam. Their are other threads for that.

Oh, I didn't think you'd be serious... why don't you just say the above instead of shutting out our American friends?
