W would not have succeeded in 92 because his ideology was exactly what caused the mess.
Oh, so 911 had no effect on how Bush ran his presidency? Cool story. Any president would be affected greatly by it.
Housing Market - Had nothing to do with Bush policy
Iraq War - poor decision on Bush
911 - Worst US day since Pearl Harbor.
The Economy did "improve" under Obama. But not nearly to the degree he would have you believe, but yes. We are much better off than 2008. Most of that was time. Some of it was policy. But it was a very very slow recovery.
SG, what you fail to understand is that his judgement after 9-11 matters, his decision making was terrible and shows what a terrible president he was. FDR had Pearl Harbor, that could have been a great moment to show his steel as a leader and he failed. He had an opportunity, he blew it. He wasn't saddled with this insurmountable event, we recovered fine and stronger, his decisions ruined that. Plus, he had Intel saying Bin Ladin was going to attack America with planes and did nothing about it. Sorry, its a terrible story.
And you keep going back to the housing crisis, and if you want to be real, as president he could have installed safety nets and regulations when there were warnings back in his FIRST TERM and he didn't, in fact they encouraged it until it blew up in his face. Clinton gave him a balanced budget that he wrecked. Plus his failure in response to Katrina. Need I go on?
No need for "quotes" it did improve, with his stimulus bill, saving GM, what slowed it down was obstruction, which you never, ever, ever acknowledge.

Katrina was a debacle. I agree.
Race relations degraded greatly under Obama, some of that could be due to the rise of social media, some of it could be due Obama being divisive. From the get go Cops were often blamed first under the Obama admin. Look no further than the Harvard Professor and the beer summit. As far as GM goes Bush was going to do the same thing. Tarp was already in effect and everyone was getting bailed out. That wasn't an Obama idea, that policy was a continuation from the Bush admin. Was all part of the Too Big to Fail mentality.
Re: US Politics Thread
I'm talking about the arra. You mean the cop arresting Henry Louis Gates for trying to get into his own home? Obama was right, the cop was stupid. Obama getting blamed for bad race relations is completely assanine. The amount of open racism spouted at Obama was insane. Did you hear what that fat ugly cunt Palendino said about him just a week ago?

Just like when Obama took the side of Michael Brown but didn't say fuck when the girl in San Fran was killed by the illegal immigrant. Michael Brown attacked the cop, per Black witnesses. But the AG took the side of Brown initially. I don't remember any of these riots under Bush.

Actually if I recall, Obama regretted his words and admitted after the fact that Gates' actions led to the arrest. Police were called by neighbors thinking Gates' house was being broken into. At the time the young officer was on high alert to what he thought could be a real crime. But Gates went bat shit crazy at him which led to an arrest. Race had nothing to do with it. The charges were dropped and Obama regretted the comments.

That's how I recall it too. Officer approached Gates due to a call, and Gates felt the need to inject all the protest and rage of the Civil Rights era into 2 minutes, and was rightfully detained. You don't get to scream and yell at police and tell them how it is. That's not how the system works. That's why Garner died, you don't get to tell the police they can't arrest you or talk to you and go about doing your own thing.
And can we finally put an end to the idea that "racism" enables black people to act without consequence? As heinous as it may be, if I called a person of color the N word, that doesn't give them the right to assault me. Too much bad behavior is excused because one side claims racial offense.

So Trump in the past 24 hours has got Ford to cancel a plant in Mexico that would have cost jobs in the American plant, and got the GOP to reverse its closure of the independent ethics committee. Mitch gave credit, but at some point you guys are going to have to recognize this guy may be the best thing for the US in a long time. Especially if he gets the GOP to pass his 1 Trillion dollar infrastructure investment.
As someone who works in a Fortune 100 and has 9 years in the military, I can say it's refreshing to see a leader and his cabinet with actual work experience rather than career politicians and academics. Theory is great, but actual experience in executing and management is vastly more valuable.
Let's see if he delivers.
