That is terrifying.  In a perfect world this would be a rallying cry across both sides.

I think it will be, and probably a main Republican issue going forward in a (probable) post-Trump landscape.

Re: Current Events Thread

My friends are telling me facebook has done this for a while, particularly with firearms websites in private chats.  I can't speak to the appropriateness of this site, but on a 10 second glance it appeared no different than other firearms sites, but if you try to link armslist.com in a facebook message, it never sends.  This should be what congress is up in arms about.  There's a mile of difference between child porn and subjective taste.  If people can write stories about men giving birth and not be censored for being misleading and dishonest, how the fuck did we get here.

Trump only likes press that favors him...everything else is fake news though right?

If this terrifies you, you must be having a heart attack over the massive voter suppression issues. Or probably not...

a professional? journalist with a user pic like that?

I'll rewatch the video later, I think you guys are viewing & following this wrong. I don't think Dems are looking to implode this like they did Kavanaugh, instead their hammering away at her on the ACA, Election Fraud, and Roe v Wade (Although I don't think that's as sellable an issue, unlikely to get overturned & I think the public is tired of that as a campaign issue. Covid/ACA & Election are more 'urgent' so to speak, and can rally the base.

She did not answer that the President cannot push back Election Day (Come on..??), to recuse herself if a case came up over Nov 3rd ballots, and even if a president can pardon themselves (only slightly concerning of an issue).  They're not looking for a huge blunder from her, rather a pivot. Personally I'd have hammered home the reasoning behind not wearing a mask to an indoors superspreader, and did that sound like good judgement at the time.

As to Ahmari's article, do we know what the article is about?  Is this drastically different than the Fake News tag or whatever?

And armslist.com is an ecommerce site. Pretty sure its always been a violation of FB to 'promote sale of firearms', maybe they didn't always prohibit the site. Same thing probably happens with Gambling websites, or did, gamblings more legalized now. I'd be curious to try to post a marijuana dispensary site, although, lol, I'm afraid it would go thru. Gambling sites used to advertise on TV their "free' .net website, well it didn't take a genious nor an email marketing campaign to get them to move over to the real money .com website.

As a former media member, this is wrong and I don’t like it a bit.

The story is full of holes large and small, but you let the readers decide its veracity.

All that said, Twitter is terrible and has been for quite some time. It’s equally shitty to everyone who uses it. This should be a unifying issue. Social media, once promising, has devolved.

EDIT: I’m seeing this story shared on Facebook, so I’m not sure if they are doing the same thing.

Twitter is now locking people out of their accounts for sharing the article. And really, is it really that damaging? They're making it worse.

As lame as they might be, explanations have been issued.

Facebook: We’re fact-checking it.
Twitter: We don’t allow hacked materials to be shared.

The main stream media is to blame for all of this!
