Re: Scott Weiland in Rehab
Scott is heading down the same road Layne Staley did. I hope he can turn it around but it isn't looking good for him. Scott and I share the same birthday (October 28th) so in some weird way it's almost like he is someone I know, I mean that sort of feeling anyway. I"ve lost some friends to drugs and I have been down some dark roads myself in the past, it's a tough demon to beat. Good luck to Scott getting off this train before it finally crashes.

Re: Scott Weiland in Rehab
Wow. I agree as well that I think it's good he went on his own free will and decided to get help before he completely lost himself again in the abyss or worse end up dead.
Now it's a bit uncertain about both bands at this point.

Not even close.
Staley would have made an awesome singer for VR. Sucks he passed. Yeah, I can't truly compare them either. Staley basically resorted to being a hermit his last few years. Weillands a rock star who does drugs, Staley was a drug addict who was in a rock band.

Re: Scott Weiland in Rehab
Weiland's still out and about, though. Layne faded away and began to just hate and regret everything until he died alone. Scott's at least been surrounded by people, with hope and a lot of positive to go witht he bad. I didn't live through Layne's struggles, but from the outside it seems that his was much more than Scott's.
Anyways, hopefully Scott rights himself and can leave VR and get with STP.
Re: Scott Weiland in Rehab
MTV and rollingstone have both picked up this story
Velvet Revolver Singer Scott Weiland Returns To Rehab
Band's Thursday show has been postponed, but treatment won't derail rockers' upcoming tour plans.
By Chris HarrisVelvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland '” who has long battled drug and alcohol addiction '” went back to rehab Wednesday night after their gig at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, according to the band's publicist.
"Weiland voluntarily entered a rehab facility" following the group's performance, reads a statement provided to MTV News. "[Thursday's] San Diego show at the House of Blues has been postponed; the rescheduled date for San Diego is TBA. Velvet Revolver deeply apologize to their fans and thank them for sticking by the group."
The statement did not disclose which facility Weiland had entered or for which substance the singer was seeking treatment. According to a source close to the band, Weiland's rehab stay is not expected to affect its future touring plans.
But the move could potentially stand in the way of a much-rumored reunion of the Stone Temple Pilots. Sources who asked to remain anonymous had told MTV News that the band would be revived this summer for a one-off reunion tour of the U.S., but the band and its representatives have yet to confirm the trek. According to sources, negotiations are still ongoing and venues have been reserved throughout the country for the jaunt, with label reps and managers actively trying to secure their bands opening slots on the proposed run.
This latest development in the Weiland saga comes on the heels of a rather turbulent fall for the former Stone Temple Pilot. Weiland was arrested on November 21 after crashing his car on a Los Angeles highway. He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction, and police claimed he refused to submit to a chemical test, which is mandated by law.
Weiland has been arrested numerous times over the past decade, for a variety of drug-related offenses in both California and New York, spending time in jail for some of his crimes. In 2003, Weiland was arrested in Hollywood following a traffic accident, and was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Those charges were eventually dropped on the condition that the troubled singer successfully complete a drug-rehab program and submit to random drug testing.
Back in 1995, Weiland was caught and convicted of buying crack cocaine and sentenced to one year of probation. In late 1999, Weiland was sentenced to spend one year in a recovery center in Los Angeles County Jail after violating the probation he was serving for a 1997 arrest on heroin possession charges. In late 2001, he was booked on domestic-violence charges in Las Vegas, but those charges were eventually dismissed when he agreed to attend counseling sessions with his wife.
Following Velvet Revolver's concert in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, and following his arrest for driving under the influence back in November, singer Scott Weiland voluntarily entered a rehab facility, according to a statement from the band. Weiland's rehab stay forced the cancellation of the band's show tonight in San Diego and jeopardizes Velvet Revolver's planned Australian tour, even though the promoter states, 'We have not been told that the tour has been affected and right now I can say that it is still 100% going ahead.' The Australia jaunt is scheduled to start February 15th, meaning that Weiland has seven days to get clean. How this affects the apparent plans for a Stone Temple Pilots reunion (and whether Weiland was just hyping an STP reunion because he was chemically altered) remain to be seen.
Re: Scott Weiland in Rehab
Scot is far more functional than Staley was. He is at the right place. I agree with Neemo it's a trigger, it is also a trigger staying someplace you don't want to be anymore. Best place he can be right now is rehab also benefits his court case coming up, his family and future writing...
I love the last record but in my heart I new this was the last VR record with Scott he has to move on or perish, this was never meant to be his band. He needs a more complicated tapestry and needs to maintain with the bros they still have a story to tell. He needs to do more conceptual work, it suits his writing style and challenges him....He needs to reach higher, keep his mind illuminated not complicated....that Pasadena crowd will kill you if you don't have your head on straight. Good he gets a refresher court at Rehab....
VR needs to get back to outrage, if they can...it is not the voice necessarily its the writing, its the vibe its the person that can put their hand on the pulse of the youth...it always was....Always someone in the Wings, always was..
Sometime you have to know when to set something free.....sometimes more than one thing....

Re: Scott Weiland in Rehab
what a shame. hope he manages to kick his demons and deal with whatever is going on. I do feel bad for the Aussie fans who have certainly been let down. If I had paid out for air fares across what is a huge country - i would be fucked off, no question. But - I do hope he gets better for once and for all. I've always been a Scott and STP fan and was personally really excited when VR evolved. I've thoroughly enjoyed seeing them a fair few times here in UK and was looking forward to the March gigs. Wonder what will happen. It would be good to end on a better note than this - if this is the countdown to the finish,as some would say.
