Yeah and there's nothing to suggest that once NIN is done touring, or even while they're touring, they'll be writing, recording, and releasing new music. NIN has had major releases in 05, 07, and two in 08 already, why should they stop now?
I don't even see an upside for Robin if he returns. Nothing in GN'R is so special that it makes up for all the shit.

He's never coming back. Why should he? So he can bow down and worship the AFD cross while Axl acts like he's gonna release something? He already played that game for a decade.
Not a huge NIN fan, but doesn't Trent want to do more releases over the next couple years?

think about it...10 YEARS....The Beatles were over and done in 10 years....as was Led Zep.....as were Tommy's Replacements....all bands who had at least 7 albums!:nervous: And, there is not much of an upside for Robin returning. He will not get royalties from album sales because he is not a part of the recording agreement. He will get his publishing money for writing credits either way. And, the touring money from NIN will easily be as good as Gnr so Robin has nothing to gain by waiting around. Bucket on the other hand doesn't have a big money making tour act to play with so he is clearly a possible candidate to come back. I don't think it will happen but if he is all over the record he surely should be at the top of the list. Bumble could do Robin's stuff in a heartbeat. So could Fortus.:cool:

I have to quote a review I read recently of NIN album 'The Slip' featuring Robin. It summarises precisely why Robin shouldn't return to GNR:
While the record companies scramble to recalibrate their moneymaking format and plug the holes in the crumbling dam of their infrastructure, Trent Reznor's leading the charge of the new revolution with colors blazing, and the battle's clearly a no-contest. This is undeniably a watershed moment in the music business, and Reznor's efforts will undoubtedly be noted as pivotal in getting the new age of music off the ground. He's walking the walk, engaging in honest, open discussions at a time when the possibilities are limitless and millions of music fans have the music biz by the balls.

The thing is guys, if there's a more fucked up person on this planet than Axl its Trent, and in a lot of ways, Trent is worse. He just has no glaring insecurity problems, especially one that prevents him from releasing music, or interefers with his life the way Axl's does.
But Trent goes with how Trent feels, on a moment by moment basis, involving the musicians he surrounds himself with on a given day, week, album or tour. Robin's position/future in NIN's isn't something that he has say over, it's how Trent feels... Today. So it really has nothing to do with staying with NIN, because that's not very likely, it's more with what's wrong inside GNR that made him leave.
I just don't think Robin will ever be a fullfledged member of NIN, definitely not with the creative sway he had in GNR. Which asks an even bigger qestion on the state of GNR. That's my opinion anyway.

Trent has grown and changed a lot since those days where he was a total jackass. He's totally clean, which helps a lot, and while he is still a control freak who probably isn't as thankful to contributors as he should be, he is fair to his fans and audience. Robin will get to play material he seems to care about for large numbers of people who want to see him playing it. That undoes a lot of whatever bad tempers Trent may be capable of.
Robin felt Trent's harshness as much or more than anyone. He took abuse on Self-Destruct and Fragility world tours, so he must have known what he was getting back into before he jumped in.

Well, if CD is released anytime in the next 8 weeks and they want to tour it, it looks like old Dave Navaro might get another shot in the line up.
That or Paul Tobias 
This band isn't going on the road without Axl's three guitarists.
