Re: The NFL 2007-08 Season thread
Depends how the first round games go. If San Diego is sluggish, yes, but if they show promise, bring in Jacksonville or Cleveland.
Re: The NFL 2007-08 Season thread
Yeah really especially Cleveland, it'd be one hell of a shootout on offense, but the Pats defense is enough better than the Browns that that would be a huge difference maker there.
I would totally agree that they'd rather see the Chargers than the Jags though.
Re: The NFL 2007-08 Season thread
Huge games today. I'll mainly be watching the Browns-Bills game, but as usual will scroll through all the games being played. Thats the curse of having NFL Sunday Ticket. Instead of just concentrating on one game, having access to all the games is just too tempting to resist.

Re: The NFL 2007-08 Season thread
I think Philadelphia and Dallas may be a good one. If they [Philly] can muster up a spark similar to the game against New England we could have an upset in the making and anytime Dallas loses makes a better NFL day for me.
Re: The NFL 2007-08 Season thread
Interesting day. Tampa beat Atlanta, so now all the divisions in the NFC are wrapped up. Only thing left in NFC is fighting for wildcard position. Not much of a fight really as NY and Minnesota control their own destiny and just have to win to get in. Falcons are AWFUL.
Bills-Browns game was ugly, but was a pretty good game. Browns are going to be hard to beat in games with horrendous winter conditions. They have a running game that can drain the clock all day when neither team can get much going offensively. Steelers lose to the Jags, which puts Cleveland back in the hunt for the division. First home loss for the Steelers this year, and the Jags are going to be dangerous in the playoffs. With the Jags and Browns likely getting the wildcard spots, there will be at least one upset in the wildcard rounds. Titans beat the Chiefs, so they are still in the wildcard hunt. Miami gets its first(and probably only) win against the Ravens. Pats win against the Jets wasn't too impressive. I think the Pats have already peaked. Belichick is gonna have a tough time with that team as we go into the playoffs. They went from averaging 40-50 points a game to now averaging in the low 20's, and its against mediocre teams.
Cardinals lose, which really hurts their chances for the playoffs. They needed to win the rest of their games and hope the Vikings lose one so they could get the tiebreaker. Packers beat the Rams, but no surprises there.
Strange day, and if certain things happen next week, all the playoff spots can be wrapped up, which would make every week 17 game meaningless.

Re: The NFL 2007-08 Season thread
Thank god Fairchield is leaving. Terrible terrible terrible offensive gameplan. He didn't let Trent get into a rhythm, in fact I think we only threw on first down once in the first half. It was run, run, pass, punt, with no exceptions until late in the game. Punting with 4th and 4 from midfield with 4-5 minutes left was dumb. And the pass to the HB in the flats with 8 seconds left and a 4th and 5 at the Cleveland ten may have been the dumbest decision I've ever seen.
AFC is all clear now.
And Neemo, 20-10 at home against the Jets? Yeah, I think the Pats DO NEED to cheat to beat the Jets in NY. At home they barely were capable of it.
Re: The NFL 2007-08 Season thread
I think the Pats getting homefield is going to play a role in their playoff collapse. They do not have a good enough running game to beat a good team that goes in there. Cleveland will give them major problems, and so will Jacksonville. I would say Pittsburgh, but that team seems to be getting worse every week. I think the Pats would have been better off if the Colts had won homefield advantage.
If the Pats playoff run is against the Chargers and Colts, they are going to the Superbowl. Chargers MIGHT pull off an upset if the running game is in full throttle. But if Cleveland or Jacksonville gets out of the wildcard round, put your upset hats on.
Regardless of what happens this year, Pats have to get a running back next year.
