That'd be a tough break for McNabb. Raiders BLOW, and it ain't gonna change anytime soon.

Raiders were actually in most of their games last year even with JaMarcus Russell stinking it up.  Russell by the way is supposedly at 290lbs.  I think with even some functionally competent qb play they could be respectable.  They're also helped by the other teams in the divison.  KC is rebuilding.  DEN no idea what they're doing.  McDaniels is an ass too.  SD is their only competiition.

Of course most of this is self-inflicted.  Here are their first round picks since 2004

2004--Robert Gallery-drafted too high at #2
2005--Fabian Washington--never panned out traded to Baltimore
2006--Michael Huff--underachieving Top 10 pick
2007--Jamarcus Russell--drafted #1 over Peterson, Calvin Johnson and Joe Thomas.
2008--Darren McFadden--not even the best running back on the team
2009--Darrius Heyward-Bey--he dropped alot of passes and was overshadowed Louis Murphy a 3rd round pick.

If you're keeping score that's a #1 overall pick, #2 overall pick, #4 overall pick and two #7 picks blown.  Luckily they've hit on some later picks otherwise they'd be even worse off.  There's also those awful Redskinsesque FA signings from a few years ago too.

It actually might be a good thing. I can see McNabb throwing a fit going there, but once there Al will completely fawn over him, do whatever he wants, get whoever he wants, let him run the offense (as long as McNabb throws 10-12 deep balls each game) and actually have a say on who coaches the team. I can totally see this working out for McNabb..

Those are some expensive mistakes too, which is why it's so hard to rebuild in the NFL through the draft.  Those top 10 picks demand lots of dollars and if they don't pan out and you keep making the same mistakes over and over it's hard to recover from.  That's part of the reason they were willing to "overpay" for Richard Seymour and offer a first round pick for him.  Even though he doesn't warrant that much, they may have figured they couldn't afford another 1st rounder that may not pan out and they'd rather take a chance on a proven player that they knew what they were getting with.

Instead of fantasizing about Minnesota, McNabb should be begging for a trade to a team like Chicago or Arizona. In the era of parity, both those teams can do damage, especially with a solid QB in place.

I hate McNabb, always will, but would be intrigued by the guy playing in Chicago during the twilight of his career.

He is from Chicago, but I think since they got Cutler or whoever last year I doubt they'll trade for Donovan.

Being from Philly, I like him. He's a really good QB. Just not a "great" QB. Still, I think it's hard to find more than 5 current QB's who've had as good a career as he did for 5 plus years. (ie not someone like Matt Ryan or Mark Sanchez, who it's hard to compare just yet)

McNabb just got traded to the Redskins.  For a 2nd this year and either a 3rd or 4th next year.  Interesting domino effect on the draft.  Redskins will go OL at #4 and Claussen will fall a bit maybe into the teens if the Bills don't pick up.

Good move by Phily as they got the best value they could from McNabb.  He wasn't going to fetch a 1st round pick (too old);  they got the 37th pick which is pretty good for a guy who can't stay fully healthy.

McNabb headed to Washington
By Adam Schefter
ESPN

The Philadelphia Eagles have reached agreement on a blockbuster intra-division trade that will send perennial Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins.

The Eagles, who announced the deal Sunday night, will receive the Redskins' second-round pick in the 2010 draft and either a third- or fourth-round pick next year.

The move means the Redskins now have a new starting quarterback and the Eagles have a new one as well in Kevin Kolb. Michael Vick is now in line as the team's backup.

Earlier, sources said McNabb's contract, which has one year and $11.2 million left on it, scared off several other teams. McNabb is due a $6.2 million roster bonus on May 5 and is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2010 season.

At the league meetings, head coach Andy Reid said the Eagles were listening to offers for all three quarterbacks, including 11-year veteran McNabb, who quickly said on his Web site that he wanted a quick resolution to the trade conversations.

This is just fucking great.  Now we'll play him twice a year.

Slashfro a 2nd is what they'd expect, and 37 is a good pick for him, but NEVER trade within the division!!!

That's twice now they've done it. A few years ago they traded their 1st down to Dallas' 2nd and a pick the following year. The Cowboys took Anthony Spencer & beat us 3 times this year.  We took Kevin Kolb who sat on the bench for 3 years.

Regardless, the McNabb era's ended. Best QB in our franchises history. I'm excited to see what Kolb can do. Hope he lights it up!
