Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
I was joking. But I do think the Asian shows are warm up gigs. And it really wouldn't surprise me if they are shooting some scenes with DJ in a video and editting out Robin.
They should release Prostitute as a single, if they're going to release another one. I just don't see CD or Better getting re-released as singles.
That could be, and it would make sense. Maybe Robin's unknown status really did hinder things more than we could ever know and maybe now they can begin to move forward. Of course, DJ was announced as a member MONTHS ago, so they could've easily taped some stuff in studio for videos and such. Then again, why release a video or do promo when no shows are planned? Now that shows seem to be imminent, maybe it's time to get rolling.
Again, I kind of doubt it. But one can hope. As long as they get back out on the road though, that's all I really care about. Videos, interviews, etc. would be icing on the cake, but signs of life are what's really important. And it appears, we have a pulse!
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
Why would you care where they play if you wouldn't go regardless?
I agree there are more shows than I anticipated. I thought the fact they only scheduled 4 dates in Asia was a sign of things to come, ie. a limited schedule. I guess not though. I'd like to think they have a plan in place and will do something promotional wise to help push these shows. But I highly doubt it. Hope I'm wrong though.
Let's not get all "Gn'R fanboy bitchy defesive" about it. I simply suggestd a venue that would make sense and would sell out for them. But duely noted that those who do not plan on attending need not participate in the conversation.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
what they should do in Alberta is play at the Enmax Centrium in Red Deer. It can hold about 9000 people for a concert and it looks just like a big time arena but a mini version. Would sooth Axl's ego cause he'd still be playing to a sell out in an arena. It'd draw people from Calgary and Edmonton. Motley Crue played RedDeer a few years ago and it knocked the shit outta the shows in Calgary and Edmonton. Tragically Hip play there and Bryan Adams has also played there. Keith Urban too. No reason Axl and his band couldn't play there.
Yeah but who wants to go to Red Deer really?
I'll go to the show at the 'dome (can't believe my first ever GNR show is going to be in dumpy Calgary). Pretty pumped about it actually. I'm sure the corporate biggies won't complain here like they did in 06... the show is a Saturday night after all. Bono, if you make it down for the show, we'll have to grab a few brews beforehand.
Any news on the pre-sale? Are the forums doing one or anything? I know Live Nation is having one, but I think you have to pay to get access to that. Anyone think it'll be a challenge to get GA tickets if I don't get the pre-sale?
I still think I'm more excited for the Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers concert at Jack Singer this weekend though.

Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
Anyone going to the Toronto show?
I got into the band in 1998. I don't know if I want to go to a Toronto ACC gig again.
2002 was special with Buckethead and Robin Finck.
2006 with Izzy Stradlin and Robin Finck was a good show, even if it had that cunt bag Kid Rock.
I just don't know if I am ready for no lead guitarist from the 1998 onwards era.
I would like to see some of the new material performed and like Axl, but, man Robin was the shit.
Sad face
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
Nobody seriously thinks that they're going to release singles and CD is going to start selling, do they? I'd really hate to think any of us are that gullible - even the fanboys.
There's really no reason to think they WONT release singles. They have an album out. They're touring. If both those factors aren't a reason to release singles, then nothing is.
Will it cause an increase in sales? Maybe, maybe not. I'm pretty sure they'll attempt it though, and they should.
