Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
I think CD would be a great opener but its unlikely. Jungle has been the standard opener since the post 93 era. I doubt it changes.Riad definitely needs to be in the set though
im ok with jungle as the opener and CD as the encore
riad just seems like a good opener to me as well

Well.
A theatre = 1 or 2 thousand, maybe capacity. That's a big ass theatre. 1 person more than 2,000 and they can't get in.
An arena = 5-10 thousand in ticket sales, 20,000 capacity.... Who cares if it's not full, besides fans pissing about the old days? Anyone who can come can buy a ticket and come.
If you then paper the show - half-off, free, buy 4 get 8 free, whatever - the venue still pulls in people it can sell beer to, more merchandise still get's sold, and there's a few more cars they can sell a parking pass to. That's gravy. A theatre is dealing with the SAME fixed costs, with much LESS opportunity for revenue for all involved.
What matters is how many tickets you needed to sell to make it worthwhile.
90 percent of a 2,000 theatre < 50 percent of a 15,000 arena.
Why is Gn'R selling out 50% of a 15 000 seat venue but only able to sell out 90% of a 2000 seat venue? Ask any sports franchise in the world if they care if they play to a half empty arena? The atmosphere isn't nearly as good and the same thing goes for concerts.
1.) The 90% was to make a point that an impressive looking number 'nearly sold out' doesn't mean anything. It's about covering costs and making money for everyone involved.
2.) See MLB. Their stadiums are mostly empty all season. But they're big enough for playoffs and big games...because you can't magically make a stadium twice as big for when you have the customers. Just like they can't make a 2,000 seat theatre 4,000 seats big if the demand allows. You upsize your venue to maximize revenue.
3.) With the lights out and sections blocked off (unlike sports, the lights are ON), you don't even notice.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
Fuckin'....why!?! They canceled the show in Reno here a few years back and now they are touring everywhere but here!
I guess it's kinda cool that they are paying so much attention to third world countries...:haha:
They are saving Reno for the 2011 Reunion Tour!!!

Nobody can say I'm not thinking positively!
You tell them, you tell them.
