They already have Kolb on a long deal.
Kolbs only signed for next year. I don't know the details but it's 12 million for this year & next. So it's doubtful he'll stay on again as a backup. Its a big clusterfuck. Kolb was supposed to be given the season, or at least 6-8 games. They gave him 2 quarters.
From the start signing Vick was a fuckup. At first I was interested, then Tommie here put it pretty well, he said "Still not sure how I feel about this" which made me think. I love the team. I Love the jersey. But I don't have to root for whoever the owners tell me to. Fuck dog killer??! Geeeez, that's not my thing. The guys an ex-con & a thug. Yeah, he's played well, but I still have my own judgement I'm allowed to make. And yes there is (albeit a small) segment of fans who still don't want him playing here.
Honestly I'm pretty confident they signed him last year to energize the fanbase as they are jealous the Phillies are completely taking over this city. Last year with the Yankees World Series the birds were on the backburner in ways I'd never seen. It ended at Week 8 & the Cowboys were up & hardly anyone was following. Then, I think they wanted to trade Vick this off season but no one bit, I think he's a PR nightmare for fans & the community & he's virtually untradable. So they kept him (unwisely) as Kolbs backup. This now must shatter Kolbs confidence & he's gotta be done here without hardly getting a chance.

Don't hold his ex-con status against him. He served his time, paid his debt to society, it's over. If it's possible to redeem yourself from your mistakes, then he's done so. For all the celebrities and sports stars who find loopholes and avoid the consequences of their actions, I think it's a shame that someone who actually submitted fully and honestly to the justice system is continually judged by the crime he committed.
I've never been a Vick fan (although I have thought Buffalo should sign him/trade for him many times) but how is he a PR nightmare? The dog fighting? Really? I think the way people have reacted to his play in 1.5 games shows how big of a deal that really is. On the field trumps off the field in the minds of fans (hometown ones, anyway). Whoever he brings wins to will be thrilled to have him.

Cowboys are 0 - 2Typical. Seriously like what the fuck. Jason Garrett is problem #1. Wade Phillips is problem #2. Garrett can't game plan or call plays worth shit and team discipline has been the achillies heal of the Cowboys since Phillips took over as head coach. That's all ya need to know.
Demote Wade to defensive coordinator, fire Jason Garret and replace him with anyone and give Bill Cowher anything he wants to take over as head coach.
28th in the league in rushing yards will lose you most games. 2nd in pass yards (Manning passed Romo monday night) isn't that impressive when you lead in pass attempts, by 15, through only two weeks. I stand by what I said last year about them not being nearly as talented as their fans imagine and the media wishes them to be.
The NFC East is really weak this year so any team could win it, but the NFC champion is not sitting in that division.

FWIW, the Browns have called the Eagles regarding a Kolb trade. The Vick story is interesting to me (the rebirth of his career not the dogfighting stuff).
faldor - signing hank could be a bluff to get the chargers to lower their asking price and reports are that the vikings are still in serious negotiations with the chargers so it could simply mean the vikings aren't going to be content with signing jackons alone, considering that harvin is hurtand the rest of the wr's are terrible.
Problem here is that AJ Smith (Chargers GM) is a hardline negotiator. He
doesn't get what he wants (reportedly a 2nd and 3rd round pick) Jackson stays on the sideline this year. Someone will have to blink here.
Percy Harvin had another migrane issue again today. I still think they'll beat the Lions but it might be a close game.

I think they're overrated too but with those RBs and that big OL they should be running the ball more especially with their OT issues in the first two weeks. This comes back to Jason Garrett. I think they have a good shot at beating the Texans though. The Texans are pretty crappy against the pass.
On Jeff Fisher, when the owner calls you out in April about past playoff screwups (especially in 2008) and talks about how his life would be complete with a Super Bowl win (he's 89), you pretty much have to at least win a playoff game to keep your job. He hasn't won a playoff game since 2003. He lost to a 4th string qb at home this week.
He does have a difficult task in that he has to accomplish these things with Vince Young. He clearly doesn't trust Vince Young. But the owner is in Vince Young's corner. As long as Vince Young shows some improvement/skills as a QB he'll remain the starter barring injury. Jeff just can't install Kerry Collins as his starter again, Bud will put a stop to that.
I think Fisher's coaching in Dallas next year or spewing his bs on the tv screen as an analyst.

Disagreed. You don't go to jail, then the past is erased. Do child molesters serve 5-10 years, then come out ok?? Do murderers of your own family. This isn't selling weed, grand larceny, or coke trafficking. It's fighting, electrocuting, and even hanging and shooting dozens possibly hundreds of dogs. Did he serve his prison sentence? Yes. Do I need to root for him? Nope! I love my dog more than I love the Eagles.

Any team that signed Vick would have been subjected to a PR nightmare. Some of the things that came out about him were really disturbing.
On a football level, I'm just shocked that the Eagles are looking into moving Kolb so soon. This might backfire on them if Vick gets injured (which has happened before) or just starts sucking again. Who's the 3rd qb? Might be better to hold onto him as his value can't be that high.

3rd QB is Matt Kafka. Just a typical 3rd stringer who will be in the league for a couple years, then replaced. Certainly not a future. A pretty bad backup in general, just a regular 3rd stringer. Kolb has a bit contract next year, so he won't be abackup here next year. If he's staying, then why play Vick this year when he's a free agent & no trade value since he can walk..
A big factor in what also makes it annoying is on Friday Andy told reporters in a snark attitude "Let me make this clear, I know I'm not speaking in plain English here, but Kevin Kolb will start no matter what". Then he comes back and says Vick will start. Well Mr Know it all, why the smug comments at your other press conference??

Still, they're sill in a good situation. Vick is playing great right now. The whole teams seems to be energized. If it's a fluke it'll come out soon.
I did hear several teams are calling about Kolb. My first thought was Buffalo. Maybe they can trade away a draft pick and Trent Edwards. And then Buffalo will finally get their wish of a new QB who can throw downfield... And get massacred behind that awful O-Line.
And I'm sure the owner had a lot to do with the starting Michael Vick decision, so I'm not calling Reid an outright liar.

I don't really blame them for riding the hot hand. BUT. Giving Kolb just 2 quarters to prove his worth isn't really getting a firm grasp of what he can actually do. And I don't expect Vick to be consistently good from here forward. What do they do then? Go back to Kolb? It could get (Mark) messier than it is now. Sorry, had to throw in that little play on words.
