I'm happy with the setup. I'm sad Transformers is gone, but it went against something I truly liked more.

To give you an idea of the extent of my Transformers love, I imported the original (read: only GOOD) Transformers movie on Blu-Ray from Europe because it's not released in the US.

Those days were so good. I got that Megatron toy for Christmas, and was hot shit at school and at my apartment for weeks. Everyone was Optimus Prime nutswingers and most kids who liked Transformers either got that, or for the ones unlucky because that shit all sold like hotcakes, got one of the lesser known or the fucking Go Bots or something.

I was too cool for school. I felt like the Fonz. 16

Will forever rank as one of my all time favorite Christmas presents. My dad probably hated it though. Megatron was the most technical transformer to actually transform, and since I was only 9, he had to do it for the first couple days until I figured it out. Still amazed I didn't break it.

I used to be big into Transformers as a kid. The other day my 9 year old cousin said, "they didn't have Transformers when you were a kid". All he knows is the movie franchise. Not only did I inform him it used to be a cartoon, I actually found some old toys (not recollection of what they were).

I think probably the biggest thing that stuck with me was that Theme Song by Lion. I used to hum it and sing it as a little kid, and to this day I still think it's pretty damn good. That Theme Song is an icon of the 1980s as far as i'm concerned. I think it was on the movie.

Yep. It's a 12 inch tall "Masterpiece Megatron" that looks perfect both as the robot and gun!

Yep, thats it. 9 God I loved that thing. Seriously one of the greatest toys ever made.

I did have ONE minor complaint about it then, so I'll just spill it now.....

Should have came with a small gun as an accessory. When playing with all your transformers, you couldn't transform Megatron because doing so was dumb because he was just this giant gun. Only Transformer to suffer from this issue.

That scope was cool. Doesn't show it in the pic, but it fit on his arm, but was huge compared to that small arm.

I also loved those dinosaur transformers. I remember this one black kid from school coming over to my house one day and he almost shit his pants when he saw my collection. Kinda felt sorry for him. He obviously didn't have any of his own.

That stuff was way overpriced, but there was such a huge demand for it that it didn't matter. It literally flew off shelves and they couldn't keep stores supplied. Huge production issues obviously. Kids that wanted them couldn't get them.

My family definitely were not even close to rich, but my mom and dad made sure I got the 'big' toys that I wanted.

Cheap. During the initial craze, Megatron and Optimus were being sold on the "black market" for 500 bucks. At 80s prices, that is insane. Thats like a couple grand today. My dad thought that shit was insane and used to laugh about those crazes(especially the Cabbage Patch craze). I remember us going to the mall because my mom had to have a Cabbage Patch doll, and him just shaking his head in disgust at the absurdity of it all. Aisles were chaos. When the young gen hears about that Cabbage Patch craze, its not an exaggeration. Fights even broke out at stores over those things. People were grabbing those as the clerks were stocking them.

Scratch that. So did Soundwave, but that was necessary because of all those little transformers that had to fit in the tape deck. Still should have come with a small stereo.
