How do you know it's real? Did Uni, Azoff, Gould or Axl confirm this to you? If not then like I said it is yet another rumor. Ain't complaining but I wish sometimes we could get something official instead. But if you prefer rumors. Then that is your choice man.

Makes sense. CD needs all the push in the world, and an exclusive deal with Best Buy presents the opportunity to pull a very Azoff-ian stunt, which would be a Sunday release. Also, Billboard recently reported that while the deal was pretty much done by the time of the internal listening party, the release date itself was still in negotiations. They would've been gunning for the next Tuesday (11/25) to make it for Thanksgiving, but the switch up to the preceding Sunday and the slight tinkering of the Billboard chart might've well been the thing Azoff discussed with Best Buy.
Frankly, I think CD needs all the push it can get, while Geffen seems intent to just release the beast and get over it. Azoff's seemingly orchestrating enough outside help so that Geffen agrees for the release and might actually get some money back. Ax has the legend to capitalize on, and for someone like him, press is always available.
We'll know better after Body of Lies comes out, as 11/23 is six weeks away. If old man Irving can't pull this one off, no-one can.
I agree. If Azoff can't make this album come out no one will. And that is the scary part.

I don't think we need to start jumping off bridges(yet) because these two songs haven't been promoted. Those of us that have been grounded in realism for years knew this album would not be heavily promoted. It was insane for people to think this was going to be everywhere.
Having said that, I don't think these two songs are even meant for promotion. Shackler's was dead on arrival, and nobody cares about If the World. Read a couple reviews on that flick, and I'm not seeing any GNR mentions. Most reviews don't mention music when reviewing a film, but End of Days had quite a few mentions regarding GNR.
While I am looking forward to the record just like everyone else who posts here, in the overall grand scheme of things, this album/project is way past its expiration date. I know it. Uni knows it. Axl knows it. You know it. The promotion(or lack thereof) will reflect that.
Not that I expect heavy promotion for this album. But part of the promotion is actually announcing a release date and then from there you'll get some free promo. To me this is why I think the Nov 25 date is now expired and 2008 is almost expired as far as a release for CD. If you ain't gonna have heavy promo at least create a buzz by announcing a release date.

I dont know if anyone noticed, but some torrent sites have Body of Lies already, i think thats where that "Birds Eye" leak came from. But, still, im waiting to hear these Best buy leaks.
I ain't even interested in the BB leaks. Maybe I ain't normal but at this point if Axl can't release the fucking music then I can't be bothered to listen to some bad sounding leaks.

Well I'm sorry, but I'm not going to the movie. Fuck GNR is they think I'm going to spend $200 on Shackler's Revenge or spend $9 every time I want to hear If The World. I'll gladly fork over a dollar per tune on a download, but I don't have the chance to give them my money it seems.
I hear ya! Personally I'm a RB player so I wanna have RB2 regardless that SR is in the game or not. As for IFTW I ain't gonna go see Body Of Lies just to hear it in the end credits. I think it's pathetic to do so. Sorry but that's my opinion. If Axldoesn't have the vision or the balls to release that album then I won't see a movie just to hear his music. I will see Body of Lies, but only when it comes out on DVD. The movie interests me but not enough to make me go to the theatres. Plus 10 bucks to hear a song everytime you wanna hear it is not a good investment.

Not sure if this latest rumor has been discussed here. Someone did mention the possibility of a 3 disc release in the last couple weeks, so this isn't anything new. BUT, here it is anyway.

Here's the latest Chinese Democracy rumor to set the interweb on fire:
"From what I am hearing now, Chinese Democracy is still a three disc set, consisting of the following:a) a CD containing the new material
b) a CD or DVD (not sure which) with live performances
c) a DVD of behind the scenes footage
so techinically, yeah, it's three discs, but only one with new music
and all signs point to November 25th"
I've been reluctant to pass this rumor along - because it's just that, a rumor, - but with Chinese Democracy news so scarce I figured I'd at least mention it.It certainly would be nice to have a 3 disc set - and a DVD of behind the scenes footage would be massive.

It's not a traditional album - so don't expect traditional marketing. So - I don't know when Chinese Democracy is coming out, but there's no law that says they have to announce it 2 months ahead of time. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't say BOO until 1 or 2 weeks before they pull the trigger.I'll say that again for added emphasis:

Anyway, it's been a slow news week.
IF they are including a dvd of behind the scenes footage then I am buying this without a question. I'Ll even watch the dvd before listening to CD. I hope they show how this evolved from the beginning. This could explain A LOT concerning the delays. I hope the dvd rumor is true.

Yeah that show sounds like it would have been a nightmare! I understand what some of you are saying about metallica fans who take issue with other bands, and even their own band accusing them of selling out and all the rest of it. Very frustrating. Myself I have a tremendous amount of respect for metallica as musicians, songwriters, and peformers. They've always been a kickass live act and will continue to be so IMHO.
To me every band has some fans that are for a lack of better terms idiots. Take GNR for example. Some fans will defend Axl till they die. Axl can't do no wrong, he would kill someone and those fans would say it wasn't his fault or would come up with excuses that makes it all right. Those same fans will hate any former band members and say they were all useless and irrelevant. Axl is the best ever and is still the biggest act. Even read in another board once where someone said that Hetfield was jealous of Axl's carrer. Now I don't kno Hetfield personnally but I'm pretty sure he'd rather keep his own carrer. So that ain't better than those Metallica fans. BTW I ain't accusing anyone on this board of being a crazy fan like I described. I never got why you can't just like more than just one band. Metallica and GNR are two of my all time favorites. But I like hundreds other bands as well and I have other all time favorite bands as well.

And then in '09, we will sit back and talk about how likely it is to be released and all the reasons to suppor that theory, just like in 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002...
Not this old boy. I've never said this in all the previous years, but if it doesn't come out in 2008 - it will never come out. And at this point, we're cutting it very close to a definitive "never" for me.
With all the Best Buy stuff going, I just think it's inevitable one way or another. If it isn't released, it'll leak.
I agree my friend. With all that is going on I was sure we'd see it this year, but Axl was Axl again. I want it out too. It'll probably leak this year. To me there is no reason to delay this yet again but then again I ain't Axl.

All of this are good points... but without a press release, and no evidence of an active release plan... the word is still - 'TBD' - on this thing.

Agreed. Like I've said last week. To me the Nov 25 window is sealed and shut. Simply will not happen. So that leaves us with Dec 2, 9 or 16. By Friday if we still don't have an official statement on a release date you can forget about Dec 2nd as well. So that leaves us with 2 possible release dates for this year and the chances are not good. An 09 release is more likely in my opinion if it is to be released.
