the song - it's stuck in my head for some reason.
This song ain't half as bad as most people make it out to be.
#1202 Re: Guns N' Roses » Will you still buy CD? » 877 weeks ago
I don't really understand that idea of "telling Axl to fuck off" by not buying albums. How about just not paying attention to Axl at all if he's so bad?
I honestly don't feel that Axl can get away with doing anything to the fans. I personally think he had nothing to do with this whole situation. If it's proven otherwise to me, I may feel differently.
I'm not just talking about the Skwerl situation Russ. His lack of updates to the fans and everything else. I bet you anything that if U2, Coldplay or any other big bands would try to pull the shit Axl pulls that they wouldn't get away with it. For some reason unknown to me GNR probably has the most loyal fans EVER. Axl could kill and I'M sure a large chunk of the fans would scream injustice for him.

Nickelback sucks, no matter who's producing them.
And I would consider that a compliment in Nickelback's case. *lol*

Blasphemous. I'll chip in and by a copy to cover your thievery. Just kidding of course, but I may offer to buy it for any friends interested. 10 bucks a pop, they can buy me a beer sometime and get me back. If its more than that, they're on their own.
Agreed. I honestly can't understand what would be so hard about dropping $10 on a CD you've waited a long time for.
I can understand Bono. GNR treat their fans like shit and that is putting it in a politically correct manner. And not all fans like that. Bono seems to fall in that category. What can he do? Not buy GNR's albums and listen to them for free. Just his way of telling Axl to fuck off and tell him that he doesn't appreciate to be treated like shit. You fall in the category that Axl can get away with just about doing anything to the fans. Like I said in other posts. Axl seems to be able to get away with just about anything. And BTW I seem to fall in the same category as you Russ so no disrespect to you.
#1205 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bob Lefsetz: Best Buy Deal confirmed/Azoff response to leaks » 877 weeks ago
hey winkler lets keep the insults to a minimum..thanks
gnr released 13 tracks to radio as singles for the UYI's...its pretty safe to say they were going commercial bigtime...do i care? but it didnt strat @ UYI...it started at AFD...6 tracks released as singles out of 12 and then another 5 of the afd tracks released as bsides and singles..thats just insane!
In my mind Lies was the least commercial of all the disks GnR released so i disagree with gnrfraxl there
Like I said in my previous post. It is when they were paving the road to becoming commercial. Remember Patience?
And thanks for sticking up Neemo. I responded without stooping to insults.
#1206 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bob Lefsetz: Best Buy Deal confirmed/Azoff response to leaks » 877 weeks ago
As for his street cred. GNR and Axl sold out many years ago when they released the UYI records because that is when they went the commercial road and one could argue they took that road with Lies. So they lost their street cred so long ago that people don't even remember when they really had it. As for being friendly to the online world. Well GNR could be more friendly with their fans period. But like I said in another thread. Axl seems to be able to get away with this so why not do it. His fans keep coming back for more. I'd love to see a band like U2 or any other big bands try to treat their fans like shit the way Axl does. Not sure they would get away with it. Sad but true.
i am sorry but that is ridiculous, there is nothing commercial about UYI, or lies, you're an idiot. "police and niggers/immigrants and faggots", yes you're right! thats something people from all echelons of society can enjoy. and 10 minute songs, 2 hours worth of album, two released at the same time, yeahhhhh that just reeks of commercialisation, i can think of so many illiterate teen-boppers who would have been jumping out their skin to sink their teeth into the complexities of 'coma' or 'estranged', but of cause what am i doing, thinking logically? if anything the UYi albums are less commercial than AFD. but hey, what am i talking about, you read somewhere that the UYI albums aren't as good as AFD, so GNR 'sold out' when making them. christ, some people.
First of all thanks for calling me an idiot and not respecting my opinion. I could go down to your level and insult you and not respect your opinions but I will choose a harder road and respect your opinion and debate in an intelligent way.
One in a million was not commercial but I'm sorry Patience screamed commercial and was made to be radio friendly. Does it make it a bad song? Nope! Never said that but it was still commercial. Just because One in a million couldn't be played on the radio (I used to love her as well) don't mean they didn't use a commercial song to sell the album (which was great by the way).
Never said the UYI records were bad either but that they were commercial. Just because they put 2 hours of music on 2 albums releasedat the same time don't mean it ain't commercial. And it don't mean that all the songs were commercial. NR may have been close to 10 minutes long but it was still some very commercial music. Was it a bad song because of that? Absolutely not! But still commercial. Want other examples of songs on the UYI records that were commercial? How about Don't cry, LALD are two that comes to mind.
As for calling me an idiot for saying that UYI was bad and me thinking that because I read it somewhere. I NEVER said that UYI were bad albums. I will say they were not as good as AFD but I know this may be hard for you to accept but I am entitled to my opinion. That said UYI were very good albums and I did listen to them A LOT! But to me this is when they sold out. Nothing wrong with that. Metallica went commercial with the Black album. Still a good record and good band. Just sold out. Which is normal cause we all wanna make money. So I hope this idiot wasn't to complicated for you to debate without resorting to insults and diminishing your point of views bucko!

Yes.

This right here tells me it ain'gt coming this year. Hoping to have SR as their first single? That should already be decided if they were to release it this year. SR will become another Oh my God and they will go back in hiding.

Could be and while I won't blame Axl for the FBI trying to impress people I still say he was behind the arrest. But I agree we only know one side of the story. One other thing that surprised me is how much everybody wanted to hear new material and now those same people seem to be turning on the one that made it possible to hear new material. I can't say for sure if I'll buy it or not. If it came out tomorrow I wouldn't. Maybe I'll change my mind. But this thread sure is a good read.
No one is "turning" against him. People do have issues with how he handled it though. Too many attention whore aspects to his story. I know someone will say, "MSL did the same thing". No he didn't.
MSL is looked at as a "common man". Everyone can relate to him. He's a normal, every day run of the mill GNR fan who loves GNR with a passion. He finally got fed up with the hoarder aspect and decided to stand up and do something about it. It wasn't a crusade against GNR or some mission to rip the band off. This is what the GNR camp doesn't comprehend. He went on a journey to bring the music to the fans that he knew was out there being listened to by an "elite" few. He used a few unconventional tactics, gave them the middle finger, and brought music to the fans that should have been heard years ago.
That's why a large portion of the fans will always support MSL in what he does, and if the GNR camp ever goes after him, there will be a huge backlash among the online base. MSL represents a fraction of what the original GNR was all about: fuck authority and put us on a level playing field.
This skwerl incident is different. Regardless of how, when, or why he got the songs, a big part of his game was the gloating. The "I have GNR songs and I want to prove it to everybody so I'll stream the songs on my site" is a far cry from what MSL and even darknemus are about.
JUst to make sure we're on the same page James. I want to start by saying that I wasn't attacking anyone in particular. Remember one thing. I'M still here so I'm in the same boat as everyone else here. And I do agree that Skwerl did a lot of mistakes including gloating to everyone and anyone who wanted to listen. But what irks me is when some say that well he shouldn't have leaked in the first place and he wouldn't be in trouble or that it was wrong to leak those songs and yet those same people were more than happy to hear those songs. But I agree that he made some huge mistakes.
Edit: And just to clarify I know MSL went at it differently and wasn't an attention whore like others and I do respect that.

I'll admit i was talking a bit pissy lol but thats cos i always felt people hate TSI just cos it isn't orginals or to get on the grunge vs rock band wagon of the time.
But the thing is this guy comes across an uninformed to me - i don't think its what the general public thinks when they hear Novermber Rain and the other songs from TSI.
As for street cred...I just feel like 'who cares' - stuff like giving the album away for free after 17 years making it is insane talk to me! Release the thing and people will buy it - maybe it won't destroy the earth - but a ton of people will go out and guy it based on the brand name and axl's fame alone. Fuck trying to be friendly to the online world or get street cred all of that.
I hated TSI and it's not because it was all covers but because it sucked. But that is my opinion and I respect yours. As for giving the album away for free. I agree with you. THat's just insane talk. Not after working on this for 17 years and spending more than 13 millions on this. People who say that they should give it for free would say different if it was their money that was spent on this trainwreck. As for his street cred. GNR and Axl sold out many years ago when they released the UYI records because that is when they went the commercial road and one could argue they took that road with Lies.
