I'll take it... not a bad fucking solo there!
#162 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash Basically Blaming Axl » 849 weeks ago
Slash may not shit roses, but he's not crazy. Axl is. No matter how many people want to throw shit in Slash's face, Axl Rose is the major reason behind Guns N' Roses falling apart. The proof is in the pudding that we're still eating today.

I think the world is really warming up to Poison, it's twenty years after the fact, so no one is really worrying about Poison not being gritty, especially with the 80s revival.
I will buy it. Always need something to read at work.
#164 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Would VR consider Dover ? » 850 weeks ago
The "people were curious about VR" excuse never flew with me, ever. The music was good, the people enjoyed it and they bought it. It's that simple. If there were 3 million curious people for VR, Chinese Democracy wouldn't have sold 38 copies. Libertad didn't sell because the songs weren't nearly as good. The first single was fine, but after that everything was pretty bad as far as the mainstream audience requires.

My buddy reviewed it here: http://www.oh-the-horror.com/page.php?id=485
It looks good, I hope it plays in my smaller town. Damn you people that can see it already!
#166 Re: The Sunset Strip » This Is a Real on-Set Rant » 855 weeks ago
I've been wanting to see Fitzcarraldo for a long time now. There's a story that there was people in a hut and they were making noise on set and Klaus fired a shot blindly into it.
Klaus was quite the artist, I'll give him that.

I'm in Saskatchewan and PBR is at the liquor board. I think it's one of the cheapest beers there. I used to buy them when I'd go camping.
All American rock fans on this forum should check out Canada's Spinal Tap: FUBAR. Amazing movie that will appeal to all rockers and drunks.
GIVE'R.

Without a personal examination, one-on-one, no one can firmly diagnose the man's problems, if there are any. Period.
And you call Axl a 13-year old for walking off stage? What about the 13-year olds in the fuckin' crowd throwing shit? When Axl shows up, he owes you a show, but he doesn't owe you a babysitting service. I can firmly understand that being a deal breaker, and I suggest anyone that gets pissed that he walked off, find the guy that threw the coin, and beat the mother fucker 'til he's dead.
I guess i'm an anti-social type now for saying that.
Like I said, it's bullshit that things get thrown. Like I said, most of the "psych" stuff is bullshit. Case in point, the psych major saying people should beat the guy who threw the coin 'til he's dead. Reading the books and applying the knowledge are two different things. I wonder how that'd fly in the ol' doctor's office. I don't care if he's "bipolar" or "antisocial", the dude's not all there and it really doesn't matter past that what label he has. I'm not interested in the psych terms that, a lot of the time, people use as excuses to make themselves feel better and doctors throw out there to get people in the examination chairs and money in their pockets. And if he's mentally stable and is doing this shit, he's simply a dick. Beating the fuck out of the idiot who threw the coin isn't going to make anyone happier about the situation and doesn't redeem shit. And his bullshit with showing up late is insulting to everyone from the management down to the band to the crew to the fans. If there's a time on the ticket, the band should start around that time. Everyone else in the band wanted to. But, they allowed Axl to become even more empowered and spoiled and that's what it amounted to. When people buy a ticket, it's your job to do shit right.
Axl fucked around probably 95% of people who were in his life. The fact that he's released one album in 15 years and can't keep a band together or tour is just more evidence that he's either not there or he's a huge asshole. And his "psychiatrists" obviously aren't helping him any. The only thing Axl has going right now is hindsight, because we know now no one died at any of those shows.
It doesn't matter which way you go about it, the end result is still the same.

All this psychology stuff is a joke, I can't believe people with majors in psychology are sticking up for Axl Rose's decisions, mentally fucked or not. There's a lot of stuff that goes on Axl's side, people throwing shit at him is bullshit, for one thing. But the way he handles situations is not that of a sane man. It's of a rich, introverted rock n' roll star who only worries about himself and those around him. Any celebrity gets and expects shit to go in their favor no matter what. Most of them expect to exist above the law and for people to go out of their way to defend them because "he's a celebrity". If he was Axl Rose living in an apartment in Shitville, USA, his ass would have been locked up and the key thrown away at this point, most likely. I don't know what's right and wrong in the life of Axl Rose, and I frankly don't give a shit because what I know shows just how crazy he is. And that's the bottom line. And, he doesn't seem to be getting help.
When one guy in the crowd throws a nickel at you and you tell everyone goodnight with the sly smile of a 13 year old, you are not in your right mind. You are inciting a riot, you are wasting GOOD people's time, people who did not and did not want people to throw shit at you. People who may have traveled hours to see you perform and have to go home. The refund of a ticket doesn't cover that. I don't care if he has bipolar or whatever crybaby thing he pulls up from his book of excuses. Life is fucked up for everyone, some people take it in stride. Do you think shit was never thrown at any other performer in the history of music? I saw a video of Angus Young get soaked in beer and all he did was pinch the guy's nose and went on with the show. Wouldn't he have been just as pissed?
The shit he pulled on stage with walking off could have left people dead. He may as well have put a bullet in a gun, spun it, closed it up, shut his eyes and fired. He may be more sensitive than most, but you have to draw a line somewhere and say, wow, that guy is crazy and no psych terms are going to change the fact that he has put people in danger. Would we excuse Slash for driving drunk? Nope, nor should we. But oh, Axl has 9 personalities, so let's cut him some more slack.
If someone asked me what it meant to be bipolar, I'd say "50 years ago, people would have just called them assholes." Every bipolar kid I know is a product of poor parenting. And I know there are legit cases, but I'm sure you all know what I mean.

for the most part, i believe everything he has said but he hasn't said much of anything - he kind of dances around the issues. his reponse to the video question was of complete irrelevance, as if he had no say whatsoever in the matter. he had that stance with a lot of things. i just don't know if i believe that is the case. if the better video was coming out in a week or so as he said he would have known with certainty and it would have come out for these things are decided with more than a week's notice.
This is why I never had the huge hard-on for the Axl forum posts like others did (at least no when unaccompanied by a real media campaign). Axl has the power to select which questions he answered and how he'd answer them. It pretty much nixed the possibility of follow-up "hard" questions and basically was a scapegoat to let him off the hook. I still appreciate the fact that he came on, but a lot of it was a lot of talk without giving us what we're interested in most. Answering questions online allowed Axl to tip-toe.
