#171 Re: Guns N' Roses » sneak peek of new song? sorry if its been posted » 857 weeks ago

That indeed sounds real, and very good, too. Should have been on the album.

The "must defend title in ____" rule was laughable in WCW. Hogan would go 3 months without putting it on the line.

Lots of 8 man tags ending in DQS, though.

I don't get the Cobain love either. I like his songs, but if a generation was defined by the content of his music and the three years they were popular, I don't know what to think of that generation. Especially because no one in that generation knows a goddamn word he said in Smells Like Teen Spirit because the lyrics were inaudible.  Then again, most of the shit from after about '92 makes me cringe. I really liked a few Green Day albums and Offspring's Smash, but that's about it. It's no wonder music today sucks since so many artists were influenced by that crap.

WCW was bullshit because every Nitro ended with a double DQ. In the early 90s, me and my grandpa used to like WCW because they had more quality matches on TV (WWF Superstars was all jobbers). But by the time we got RAW easily accessible here, I was hardcore into WWF. I always enjoyed it more than WCW, especially when they were losing in the ratings. I loved the nWo angle, but the shows just weren't nearly as entertaining as watching Stone Cold feud with McMahon, Undertaker learning about Kane and Mick Foley being Mick Foley. I still remember when DX invaded "dubya c dubya", it was awesome.

I liked the fact that Baz was the opener. One less shitty new band I have to hear. That's one reason I never worried too much about missing Crue Fest in the summer. The excruciating pain that came before Motley must have been unbearable.

But, it could be a necessary evil. I mean, Aerosmith took a green GNR on tour, Motley took GNR, GNR took Skid Row and Axl tried to get newer acts back in the day. So, I won't argue with your logic because those always seemed to work.

No doubt, Axlin. "This just in GNR plays to 7000 screaming fans... meanwhile across town, the Poison show is sold out!"

#177 Re: Guns N' Roses » So where exactly is Axl Rose? » 860 weeks ago

Chinese Democracy is definitely better than Contraband, but the way people here act towards Contraband is laughable to the point that those who always talk shit on it are just inane.

#178 Re: Guns N' Roses » LARS ULRICH Holding Up Release of GNR 'Better' Video? » 860 weeks ago

The negativity is the realistic approach to GNR. In case you haven't noticed, Axl is crazy. I want him to be the artist he can be, but if he's gonna fuck himself over, then I'm not going to stick up for him anymore and look like an asshole. I'm not gonna sit here like a dick and talk shit on Contraband and VR when at the very least, they are a band who makes new music for its fans, went on the road, did interviews and put out a good record that Axl-ites hate because people liked it and involved the old band. It's not perfect, but there's nothing to hate musically from Contraband.

Hey, if Axl can prove me wrong and release a follow up album in a year or two, then I'll think he may be on a decent path - steady releases would make up for lack of promotion. But, where does Axl go from here? His album tanked, his budgets are going to a lot lower now. And when the album came out with no promotion or anything, he took self sabotage to the most extreme level.

He's my favorite singer and his music is that I most relate to with the sound I like the most, but, it's pretty hard to play Mr. Nice Guy to Axl right now. I'm not his manager.

#179 Re: Guns N' Roses » So where exactly is Axl Rose? » 860 weeks ago

I know, I know. Grammy's don't count, big record sales don't count, etc... because Axl's not in the band. Remember when sales mattered? Then Chinese Democracy flopped and suddenly accolades and sales and fandom mean nothing. Axl doesn't have to speak because the music speaks for itself, it's a great record so be happy. etc...

Contraband was a great rock record. Lose your delusions.

#180 Re: Guns N' Roses » So where exactly is Axl Rose? » 860 weeks ago

We got one song per year released. I don't care if there's a million songs in the vault, we were intended to hear those 14.

VR is twice the band new GNR ever will be, the only problem was a bad singer. Contraband is an amazing rock album. Libertad is Weiland's shit, which would be like My World in the world of GNR. Shit.

But hey, if you wanna sit and pull Axl's bird, more power to you. I'm not buying it.
