Ok, so heres the thing. After doing a year of a computer programming course at college and discovering that it wasn't right for me, I ventured into Media and Journalism. It looks a pretty good course so far, but I just got handed out the first assignment brief:

I have to write an essay on a particular genre of film and talk about which films were major elements to it's success. Unfortunately, the lecturer took it upon herself to pick a genre for us - horror. I've only taken an intrest to horror this past month or so, and have never really watched horror films before besides the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. (which I wouldn't really class as horror but whatever)

So I know there is some major horror fans here and would like to ask you guys what horror movies should I seek out (give me about 10 from the past right up until the present if possible)

I'm guessing the Exorcist and Poltergeist would be good ones to start with but as I said im pretty lost as to were to go from there.

Any help would be much appriciated.

Del Toro's "The Orphanage." It's Spanish subtitled but I still found it pretty enjoyable. Original concept with sharp swerves and lots of suspense and great sound effects. Anyone else see this?

#203 Re: The Sunset Strip » Ghostbusters III (Murray is IN!) » 875 weeks ago

Good god not Steve Carell. I thought Ghostbusters III was going to be an animated movie, least thats what I heard with the original cast doing the voice acting. I say if they want to make more Ghostbusters movies remake the first two. The special effects were terrible back then, and with todays technology it could be a hell of a lot better. But I wouldn't be keen on getting a new cast and the old cast is well...too old to do it now. No one could replace Bill Murray, but if they plan on doing this, they better find a damn good replacement.

Am I the only one who can't understand what the fuck he's singing?

This album is absolutely amazing. One of Metallica's best ever. I absoutely love every song on the album, it's got something to fit everyones taste. The Judas Kiss and The Unforgiven III are my personal favourites. I'll wait until the albums released until I comment about it properly.

"My Apocalypse" is bound to please the old school Metallica fans. Old style Slayer like thrash metal.

If anyone wants to 'further evaluate' this new song they're Probably best waiting till the albuM comes out. wink

But now, my first opinion has changed...I think it has the ability to be one hell of an album. Of course I'll need to hear more material to express my final views. The one thing I'm worried about is that I hope they don't tarnish the first two Unforgiven's with "The Unforgiven III."

Dude, I dont think they could tarnish The Unforgiven II! 16

What?!

The Unforgiven II is one of my favourite songs of all time! 14

There are some great Metallica songs out there that don't get the recognition they deserve imo. And they also have some great cover tunes.

The Unforgiven II
Until It Sleeps
The Memory Remains
No Leaf Clover
Turn The Page (Bob Seger Cover)
Loverman (Nick Cave And The Bad Seed)

True these songs marked a change in directon for Metallica, but they are great songs nonetheless.
