#311 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » How often do you listen to Guns? » 896 weeks ago

I just started this job and it has a 1/2 hour commute, so i usually hit the GH's disc or the Ritz show for a song or two during the drive.

Ain't that the truth.

The only VR songs that I think should stay are off of Contraband sans SuckerTrainBlues. Love the song, but it would come strange with someone other than Weiland. It'd also be cool if Slash had more solo bits, like The Godfather,  or songs built around his guitar, like when he did Hey Joe. Depending on the singer, It'd be cool to see'm do SCOM or Nightrain.

Ummmmm.....the guy is a guitarist for this little "band" called GNR. Historically, they're one of the greatest hard rock bands to ever play. There should be plenty of people who care how the guitarist got his inspiration for part of the bands live show. The inability to answer even the most innocent, nonAxl/CD GNR related questions by the "bands" guitarist shows the absurdity of the situation.

I like the speed that STP is playing those songs at. Hopefully, they come my way on their tour.

I think these guys need to call up Linda Perry. Velvet Revolver would actually be a great hard rock band name if a woman was fronting it. She's everything they need in spades. I just really hope they don't call it VR with a Weiland wannabe, that would suck balls.

Whole Lotta Love w/ Slash/Camp Freddy

Old School Linda Perry w/ The 4 NonBlondes-What's Up Live on Letterman

Linda Perry-Fly Away

Woman claims Rikki Rockett, Poison drummer, raped her at casino hotel

The arrest warrant issued for Poison drummer Rikki Rockett stems from an incident that occurred on Sept. 23, 2007 at a casino in Mississippi, TMZ reports this afternoon.
According to cops, TMZ said, Rockett was staying -- not playing music -- at the Silver Star Hotel & Casino when he allegedly raped another female guest in his hotel room.

The woman did not report the alleged assault until several days later, when she came in to the Neshoba County Sheriffs department and filed a report. After determining there was probable cause for Rockett, real name Richard Ream, to be arrested, a warrant was issued. That warrant, we're told, is still active and he's a wanted man. Police will not give out any additional details about the alleged sexual assault.

LAPD busted the rocker at LAX on Monday night on the warrant, but let him go after Mississippi law enforcement decided not to extradite him, pending official charges from the Neshoba County District Attorney, TMZ reported.

A rep for Rockett could not be reached for comment.

The Daily News first reported the drummer's arrest as he arrived at LAX after getting off a flight from New Zealand, according to police reports.

Rockett, 46, was arrested Monday at the airport and booked into the Los Angeles County Jail, according to Los Angeles police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Inmate Information Web site. He was held on a strong-arm rape warrant stemming from Neshoba County, Missisippi, and appears to have been released from L.A. County custody, the Sheriff's Web site shows. His status today could not be confirmed.
Details about the warrant were not immediately available. Messages left with state police in Mississippi went unanswered.

According to the online Web site Wikipedia, Rockett was born Richard Allan Ream in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He has worked as a hairdresser, lifeguard, dishwasher, Emergency Medical Technician and a suit salesman. He rose to prominence in the 1980s when he co-founded the band Poison with vocalist Bret Michaels.

In late 1993, Rockett discovered that the then guitarist Richie Kotzen of Poison was having a relationship with Rockett's fiancee at the time, Deanna Eve. Kotzen was fired due to this incident.

I forgot to say if you press MENU on the bottom right of the youtube link, it shows all the videos from the Bend show. You'll also notice that nowadays Bucket has the full beard/hair thing going on all around the mask. He's the greatest ever.

So here's a review & a video of the show in Bend.

The Buckethead (Freak) Show

Written by Ric E. James
Wednesday, 26 March 2008

Wearing his trademark KFC bucket (logo free) and white mask, Buckethead pushed the limits of the electric guitar to the brink Friday night at the Domino room, before the packed all-ages show. Three of four songs into the set he pretty much demolished all notions I had of the technical limits of the instrument and human musicianship.

But I'll confess that at this point I was starting to wonder how much guitar theatrics I could take. Plus I was getting a little weirded out by the whole chicken bucket hat, serial killer mask shtick.

An hour and half and one Buckethead nun chuk exhibition later, I was still standing in the same spot with my jaw hanging somewhere near the ground.

And by the time he launched into his unreleased track, 'Jordan', I was a convert. It was Buckethead's efficiency with his sampling that most impressed me. While we waited for the next spectacular display of virtuosity, he was subtly constructing elaborate compositions with intricate interweaving melodies by sampling and then looping his own playing. One of the shows highlights - nun chuk and break dancing displays notwithstanding - was his collaboration with opener That One Guy. Other highlights included Buckethead communicating with the crowd via hand puppet (although communicating is probably too strong a word) and Buckethead stopping the show to hand out Christmas presents, which included Martian ray guns and, possibly, My Little Pony dolls.

This was bar none the most bizarre music show that I've ever seen. So it was only fitting that a performance defined by Buckethead's super technical mastery would end on a note of technical difficulty when Buckethead's guitar malfunctioned, stranding Buckethead on stage while the drum track marched on. He offered the crowd a silent '˜oh well' gesture with his hands and was ushered off the stage by his (also masked) handler - never to appear again. We assume he's back on his home planet by now. Wherever that is. '” Ric E. James
