I only torrent'd for Monsters & Robots since it wasn't available in any of the stores I went to buy music from and they were out of stock on some of the online stores.

The band probably didn't feel up to it. That's ok. Sounds like I'm getting my money's worth after all! big_smile Cool with me. That sounds about right for an opening act even if it's a legendary group like Kool & The Gang! I guess I will be jamming to Celebration and Jungle Boogie before VH takes the stage. Going to take a ton of pics! When I saw the Foo, Social Distortion only played for like 30 minutes and they have been around longer than any of the bands that were playing (Wish they played I Was Wrong, cause that's my favorite song from them, oh well) xD..but that was fine with me cause the Foo played about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour set full of the hits and a good chunk of the new album which was awesome! Singing along to almost the whole set!

It's cool. don't worry about it.

#3384 Re: The Sunset Strip » Van Halen Discussion » 696 weeks ago

That's cool. How long was the wait for them to get on stage after Kool?  So after Jump, did they just do their bows and stuff and leave?

Oh me too!!

Those Uh Uh Uh's of Diamond Dave are what i call annoyingly awesome LOL they sound like he is fucking around but they are so much fun

I was going through Wal Mart and everytime my GF would say something or ask me a question I'd break into the UH UH UH, UH UH UH

hahaha awesome shit.

Stay Frosty is pure orgasmic guitar ear candy to me, and once that heavy riff kicks in, it is game ON!:mosh:

And DLR is at his tongue-in-cheek best. Love this line:
"If you wanna be a monk, ya gotta cook a lot of rice"

Like I said earlier, VH have released an album, a million times better than anyone ever expected them to. If you're a VH fan, and you don't absolutely love A Different Kind of Truth, then you ain't really a fan.

What he said 16

I think my favorite part in Frosty is "So I wondered out west to the California coast. Where the folks who know about frostyness, stay frostyest the most". It just kills me how Dave delivers the line like it's just regular business 16

The song has a smoothness and laid back vibe to it when Dave sings and that's why it's so awesome. The analogies and stories within the song just make it great. Diamond Dave is back ladies & gents!!

I would LOVE to hear more aDKoT but that's just me. VH is like GN'R in that, they could do a 3 1/2 - 4hr set and there would still be a ton of people left unhappy.

As for GNR, they get alot of crap for these past shows and even the last U.S. tour. 3 hours of Axl singing especially in this age. Most bands can't even go an 1 and 1/2 during a show plus they would charge you and an arm and a leg. The band is playing songs I want to hear live and rock out too. The current lineup are amazing. DJ gets so much shit that he doesn't deserve.  I decided not to do the club shows and wait for them to do another U.S. arena tour near an area me and my friends can get to. Don't know when that's going to happen; so I'll see whats around in the year. I'm considering seeing Slash and the conspirators live in May since it's near my birthday and the tickets are fair as hell. : D Right now focusing on finishing up these classes, registering my new classes, getting important shit done, and planning out Van Halen road trip!

I think some people were pissed that they didn't get to hear Jamie's or Cradle this time. Wouldn't matter to me personally. I support you in that idea, Russ. I would like to hear Bullethead, Y&YB, As Is, and Outta Space heard live. I think those songs could be pulled off pretty well. I can't wait to hear China Town live. Hoping they bring back Atomic Punk, maybe Drop Dead Legs, Me Wise Magic? llol If they are going to change up the set every show or once in awhile during the tour, that would be pretty cool. Give a fresh experience to the fans every show. I respect that. xD

FAIR WARNING

Don't read this if you want to be surprised if/when you see them live.  As they tend to change their setlist up much less than GNR even, in fact they hardly EVER change their setlist.  I'd imagine they'll substitute some of the new songs in on this tour though.

First show of the tour just finished up.  I was reading the updates on the VH forum.  It's funny to see fans of other bands bitch and complain like we do.  Same shit, different board.  "Only 4 new songs?"  "Do we really need a drum solo?"  "Why not promote the record?"  Then you have the defenders.  "Seriously, some of you will never be happy."  The usual.  Anyway, here's the setlist from tonight

1. You Really Got Me
2. Runnin' With The Devil
3. She's The Woman
4. Romeo Delight
5. Tattoo
6. Everybody Wants Some!!
7. Somebody Get Me A Doctor
8. China Town
9. Mean Street
10. (Oh!) Pretty Woman
11. Drum Solo
12. Unchained
13. The Trouble With Never
14. I'll Wait
15. Dance The Night Away
16. Hot For Teacher
17. Women In Love
18. Outta Love Again
19. Beautiful Girls
20. Ice Cream Man
21. Panama
22. Eddie's Solo
23. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
24. Jump

I see no fault in this setlist. To me it's pretty much good ol' Van Halen songs with a few promoting the new record. They are covering the best of the Roth catalog in a nutshell. big_smile Even more pumped to see them live. Hopefully they add in As Is. And..do a medley of Frosty with Ice Cream Man too. So excited!! 21cool

I'm making plans to see Van Halen in either Atlantic City in March or Greensboro in April. Me and my friend are like waiting a week for our other friend to make a decision since we can't wait 3 weeks or anything like that. Don't want the show to get sold out. Then when a plan of action works out, we are going to purchase tickets..and then VAN HALEN ROAD TRIP!!! AHHH..YEAHHH!
