well from what I've heard it isn't Mike Post bad or as over indulging as something out of Phil Spector's romp. lol I think the producers are John Shanks, Eddie/maybe Dave or Wolfgang helped with it too, and Ross the engineer. The only problem I have with Shanks is I think he wanted both a classic feel with a few hits that could be a good mid 80s pop return since that's his forte due to him working with Bon Jovi and Miley Cyrus (yuck). That's not what VH needs. They don't need constant overdubs or mixing on all the vocals, backing vocals, and bass lines. Each one should have their place in the song and their chance to shine. One of me and my friends favorite Jovi songs is Have a nice day and he worked on that. I'm hoping they don't let Eddie take total control over the album's sound and production with Shanks cause that won't be good. We don't need another Twister disaster. Eddie should stick to being a band member, shredding, and doing what he does best. You are right, ADKOT is going to be fucking awesome and a return to form. Kneel before the mighty Van Halen and their greatness. muhahah! xD

I just want to know where the hell is Ted Templeman? I think bringing the material into different studios can change the tone of the record too. but..that's life I guess!

As for Sammy bit, I wish he would let it go. Shit happens, people change, and life goes on. The memories with what happened should be fond and the bad ones just thrown away. He has solo projects, collabs, and Chickenfoot on his plate to deal with to get over everything. He's the Red Rocker and has been in the industry for a long time; so he shouldn't get all upset over his old band moving forward. I do hope one day, all this separation crap and bickering will end and everyone in the band will be friends again and jam together.

As soon as I get out of class and get back home on Tuesday night, picking up that record, and rocking out!!!! xD

I was wondering if I could use this as a custom title. It's a combination of Bill Cosby parody clips from Family Guy and the Simpsons that was turned into a rap on youtube. "You see Jazz is more like jello pudding, no maybe it's more like kodak film, no actually jazz is like the new Coke." "It will be around forever hehe." Let me know if you are cool with this.

I completely agree. I love That Metal Show; but the changes and constant mood swings and opinion sides of Trunk bugs the hell outta me now. The new album complaints aren't the first time Trunk has been whining about VH. I believe it was during the Throw down between 1984 vs. 5150 with Micheal Anthony and Kip Winger. He kept going on how he hated the keyboards in Jump, (being played out which uses alot for Zeppelin, Guns, etc.) (whine, bitch, moan) I'll Wait..I can understand since i think that's the worst song on the album. It was just kind of annoying..and i'm like..dude..we get it already. He choice 5150 which I respected because I own the album; but a few years ago he said he thought all 4 Dave albums were better than the Sammy ones. ..WTF? Could it be the friendship with Sammy changed his mind? seriously. The guy needs to stick to his opinions. Plus..the Top 5 thing they should just drop because it just takes too much time and we get it Trunk you want every person to love UFO and all that. I think after the passing of Dio, it went down hill. I agree with Axlin in that Florentine is one of the reasons to still watch. (I would like to add..Jennifer...) beautiful goddess right there.

Who doesn't want some of that? xD 1116

I'm just hoping they pick better guests this season.

One other thing before I finish ranting. Sammy Hagar sounds extremely bitter about the new album and is calling the band cheap and lying to the fans. They are lying to us because they are giving us classic 70s, early 80s Van Halen sounding rock? ..and no more 6 1/2 to 8 minute experimentation?  I call that a blessing. They could of gave us 6 songs sounding like VH3 with Roth; but no, this album sounds like the new Fair Warning or even better than '84 in my opinion. Here's the article? He tries to compare his band Chickenfoot with the new VH...and I'm like..dude..wasn't the whole point of Chickenfoot was to do something different and new. I would of respected Sammy if he just said he didn't like the album (..and ended it there); but now he is attacking everything else.

Word of advice: Sammy be more like Micheal. end of story.

GNR in some form must capitalize on this HOF pub. if they don't will be the dumbest thing They've ever done and that would be saying a shitload.

This is Beta's Trial by fire as a manager. if she can't capitalize on this, GNR are DONE IMO.

I agree. The HOF is GNR's "last moment" as a band. Let's be honest.

They don't even have to reunite to ride the wave. But they aren't gonna get that much momentum EVER AGAIN (trust me in a couple years when it dawns on you).

I don't see why the old band and the new band couldn't co-exist. A full-fledged reunion ain't happening (I personally don't think anybody even wants it outside of Steven).

But I don't see why IF they could be all happy and patch things up, and come full circle as bandmates and brothers again, why you couldn't have recurring special guest appearences by the old band at select shows, in addition to pushing the new band. I don't see why the writing forces couldn't be combined in-studio either to put together collective ideas. Izzy hasn't changed from 1991 all these years, Duff's doing his thing, Slash is basically a session musician writer/performer already.

GN'R could be a collective force under Axl Rose. It's Axl's baby anyways, and has been for years. They could truely use all this and become Axl's NIN.

And yet everybody gets to keep their day job. Axl does his thing, Slash does his, Izzy does his, Duff does his, and DJ, Ron, Richard, Tommy, Frank, Dizzy & Chris still have GN'R and tour the world as such AND contribute to the band as well, AS WELL as the vault material from Robin/Bucket/Paul.

It works on all sides, as long as the artistic interest is there.

I don't see why you couldn't see this as writing credits on the next album...

Let's just see what happens. I don't see at all why it wouldn't work short of just old fashioned ego's. Like I said -- this is Axl's band and has been for a long while. No reason to not just throw every ingredient into the pot and make delicious GN'R gumbo. This concept of the 2009-11 band as "this is a band"... bullshit. I heard all that shit in 2006-07 too, and also in 2001-02. GN'R hasn't been a band since 1991. Since it's been Axl's ship and whoever he wants on board.

I wish something like this would happen. In the words of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, "Life is very short, and there is no time for fussing and fighting my friends." This would be the perfect launch of a new era and ending all the previous eras and the shadow of Chinese and all the previous bickering behind them. This seems more possible now than ever before. Everyone seems to have cooled down. I respect Steven; but really I wish he would stop bringing crap up and just let the event happen and go with the flow. Everybody is just going to wing it. Now we just wait till the ceremony for Axl & Izzy to show up with the rest of the lineup and alumni.

You know I was just thinking that. I heard Roth and I immediately thought of David Coverdale.

Like Coverdale, Roth's voice has aged beautifully. Although Roth is not a premiere vocalist, he's 'right' for VH, and his voice has such as smooth, buttery, vintage rock sound to it.

Diamond Dave might sound better today than he did back in the day. He sounds SWEET on these new tracks. Frankly... he might be the 'most' on the album. He is STILL the man, and VERY unique after all these years.

From the clips I hear, he sounds like he's driving the car musically, rather than Eddie back in the day. Dave is the standout so far imo.

I would say the whole band is turning out to be something special yet again.  I haven't heard Eddie play this amazing in awhile. Dave has proven that he is still the man. His voice has improved so much over the last few years. If you listen to Me Wise Magic and then go to Trouble with Never..you can see the awesome improvement. Everything else in the band (studio wise) is syncing pretty well.  The Mighty Van Halen everybody !!!

I thought it was pretty bad ass for a car commercial! xD

From the sounds of it, sounds like picking right up where they left off. A true sequel to 1984.

And metallex was right. There was a song on there that sounded like Van Hagar with Dave on vocals.

Almost makes you wonder had Dave not left the band, would VH still have recorded the same exact albums they did, but with Dave on vocals. I laugh inside thinking of Dave singing "Dreams" & "Why Can This Be Love". 16

That would of been fucking hilarious! 1416
