#391 Re: Guns N' Roses » Robin vs. DJ Ashba » 707 weeks ago
I guess it is because I am a more of an alternative fan that I favour Robin.
I can't stand crap like Motley Crue.
Hope Axl keeps Guns in the Alternative / Industrial / Queen (styled Rock) direction.

I would like to find out the reason why Robin left the band for a second time and is he in Axl's I hate Slash book styles?
#393 Re: Guns N' Roses » Robin vs. DJ Ashba » 708 weeks ago
The band needs a third time is the charm for the Finck Tank.

I firmly disagree with the Robin bashing.
If memory serves me correct he has seven co-writing credits on Chinese Democracy.
I am not talking the albums line notes that are not right. I remember a thread being all about the real credits.
Robin was accessible during NIN's last tour, from pictures I saw.
Robin to added a seriousness to GN'R and the guy is a talented songwriter and someone that is non-flashy.
DJ embodies what I hate. He just comes off too contrived and is trying too hard by putting on a big show.
The real reason on why Robin Finck left hasn't been given.
And I really think it is total bullshit to say that Buckethead and Robin Finck bailed for no reason on the band. How can you lose two of your guitarists from your revamped line up and in my opinion the axe falls on Axl for that one.
The band in my firm opinion has been taken down a notch without Robin on board. Bad enough Buckethead left.
Yeah they put on a good live show apparently. But the two lead guitarists (Sorry Ron, I do actually like you), are covering superior musicians work.
Also you don't see DJ jumping into the crowd like Robin did in 2006.
I'll take Crab dancing over an asshole smoking a cigarette with a top hat trying way too hard to be from the 80s and like Slash any day, thanks!

I was really tempted to see this gig. But I think it would be ruined for moi personally, as I last some them in New York and Robin was in the band still.
Hope it is a good show for all that go.
However, I couldn't put aside my dislike for DJ Ashba and the lack of the Finck Tank.

Yeah Madagascar I had the Rock In Rio III boot.
It has been my favourite from the CD era next to Oh My God.
To be it is about rising above all the shit that is thrown your way and moving on.
#397 Re: Guns N' Roses » What's Different this time? » 712 weeks ago
Robin's image in 2006 was pretty rock n' roll.
He has a uniqueness and doesn't look like a poser like DJ Ashba.
The guy also is all over Chinese Democracy as well.
I think it is a laughing stock that no Chinese Democracy guitarists are with the band and that Brain is gone.
Wish the tour all the best though, just not my cup of tea.
If you can't keep one of your Chinese Democracy guitarists in the band it is a reflection of oneself and not the guitarists.

I saw the End of Days and then bought the End of Days soundtrack. Oh My God was what got me into the band.

If he wanted to release new music he would. But he's clearly afraid to Mister Rose that is.
Also losing two talents: Buckethead with his phenomenal ability and yes Robin Finck with his songwriting and guitar abilities does hurt you.
I don't see how anyone else doesn't find it kind of sad they are covering a song that someone else wrote and he's not in your band anymore.
I think it says a lot about the Captain of the ship not the people that left.
Hopefully, Mister Rose tour goes successful. But DJ Ashba ruins any song I see him in. Too gimmicky and just doesn't come off as someone I can take remotely serious like Buckethead and Robin Finck. Yes Buckethead wears a Bucket on his head and you might say that is a gimmick. I disagree. It is a layer of comfort and he isn't playing it up. Also, the guy let's his talent speak for himself.
Add this to my hate on DJ Ashba posts.
As for Slash he is talented as well. I ain't going to compare him to Buckethead different styles.
However, post Slash losing your best talent: Finck and Buckethead makes your efforts of creating new music troublesome, plus it showcases you're the problem in the equation clearly.

bet over HTGTH they are saying this was the greatest gnr show of all time haha
Clearly, they are giving people the kool-aid on how rocking the show was.
I am glad I haven't been to a show since the Hammerstein Ballroom 2006. Post Robin would ruin it for me.
