Hmmm, too punk-y for me.
Sounds like a complex version of a sum41 song with a hard rock solo and a garage rock bridge.
Interesting melange, but not something I'm a real big fan of smile.

I like Chester, I really do. But he has the stage presence of a plant on Valium...

Strange, I thought The Sixth Sense and (especially) Signs to be far inferior to The Village and Lady In The Water. But maybe that's 'cause I'm a big fan of his cinematography, and can enjoy a nicely shot movie with oodles of atmosphere even if it boasts a predictable or textbook story.

By the way, that Shooter Jennings thing would never fly in Europe, there's literally no southern rock affinity over here. The last slightly southern sounding thing to be successful over here was "Achy Breaky Heart"... no exaggeration.

Never been a fan of Shooter Jennings, so that would be disappointing to me if he got the gig. Linda Perry fronting a band of Izzy, Slash, Duff, and Sorum is what I would like to see.

Love Del's response though... it's not like "I don't understand how you could think Axl would want to have anything to do w/ Slash" or something else completely hope shattering like that, it's "It's amazing that can't people tell from the context of this guy's tripe that he's just some attention whore" which gives off a way more positive vibe about this.

Not even one little dig at Slash in the whole e-mail. He's not saying it's never going to happen, which is what I would say in his situation if I was sure nothing was going on...

Yes, I'm overly optimistic about this whole thing wink.

That breakdown around the 2nd minute reminds me an awful lot of the breakdown in OMG (where he sings the "ooh"'s in falsetto). But then again, I'm not really at home in this type of music, so I might be generalizing smile.

What always struck me as odd was how even Duff & Matt thought it would be feasible for Slash to re-join GNR, how he had all the trouble in the world convincing them of the opposite back when he had visited Axl's house and that press release was issued. That would mean even they think it is possible Slash joins GNR as the "new" lead guitarist, and would play Chinese Democracy songs...

It seems far fetched to me, but then again, I don't know the inner workings of those bands.

I know what people think about the guy, but I wouldn't exactly doubt him.

Never thought of him as a reliable source. Sure, he might be in cahoots with the band's inner circle, but he'll tell us whatever they want him to tell us. He's there propaganda tool, which makes him about as reliable as Joseph Goebbels... (harsh analogy, not calling him a Nazi, but you get the drift).

As for the comments about the business side of things: I don't reckon that would be a (legal) problem. It's perfectly possible for a company to modify it's shareholder structure while maintaining their existing contracts as they are. Slash buys himself into "GNR Inc.", stipulates some extra constraints ("Only Axl will be liable for the Chinese Democracy costs", etc...) and the deal with interscope/geffen/universal/god-knows-who remains as it is. Not difficult at all, if they can work things out internally, that is smile.

Axl has got to be extremely strong emottionally to ignore what people have said, say and will say of him.

In a way, it's admirable, but what i don't get is why he is enduring all this ? Something has got to be worth it.

Hogwash and balderdash.

You don't have to be emotionally strong, you have to be stubborn and disconnected from reality. Axl is anything but emotionally strong, he exhibits all the tell-tale signs of an insecure, paranoid person. Oftentimes people will shield themselves from reality by hiding in their own make belief world where the perceived truth aligns better with their own view on things, and I sincerely believe that's what he's been doing for the past 18 years or so. Hence him distancing himself from his (former) band mates during the UYI tours, buying into the whole Yoda crap, surrounding himself with hangers-on & yes-men, refusing to finish or release an album that many years in the making...

I'm not dissing him though, everyone has his problems.
