The Republicans picked one of the worst possible candidates, and for that, I hope they lose.  Neither one is a great choice, but given a choice between the two it's Obama.

Like that old South Park episode, they gave us a choice between a Giant Douche and a Turd Sandwich.

Who will be the next US President?

Romney 11%
Obama 89%
Total votes: 18

95% of Black people voted for Obama last term, and I don't see that changing very much this year

There's 15-20% of the vote right there

Obama wins

Romney pretty much has to run the table in the swing states. If you look at Obama's ground game around the country, Romney's task seems darn near impossible. There are states where Obama has 2-3 times as many field offices and God knows how many extra supporters working for him. Romney raised a ton of money but spent almost all of it on TV ads. I'll be surprised if Romney wins.

Personally, I think they are both bad options for the country. With Obama we're looking at another $5 trillion added to the national debt over the next 4 years. With Romney, we're probably looking at $2-3 trillion added. In either case, neither one of them has a plan to balance the budget anytime soon. That is a huge problem to me.

Our debt situation is dangerous as hell. It is the biggest threat to our way of life. But we have two parties in power that are not serious about fixing it. Even Paul Ryan's supposedly "extreme" budget plan does not balance the budget until 2040. That is nearly 30 years from now! We might have a complete collapse of our dollar by that time if we keep racking up the debt at our pace from the last 30 years.

The only good thing I can say about either one of them is that I think Romney would have fewer restrictions on the oil and gas industry, which is good for me as someone who has a job in that particular field. The environmentalists need to be stopped. They would rather worry about a lizard than millions of jobs for human beings.

u guys seem p certain obama's gonna win. (atm anyway, after like, 11 votes). defo not the impression i get from the media, tho the message also seems to be about romney not able to get the 270 electoral votes.

just from history i wouldn't ever be surprised about who would win.
having said that tho, as a rational person w/only the slightest interest in this, it's just plain weird how close it is (& often is).

don't get me wrong, i find my own politicians just as laughable & contemptible, if not more so.
but what i love about the US election is the noise & razzmatazz it brings. it's like the oscars only a little more important & exclusive.

I think Obama will win the electoral, but Romney will win the popular. I agree with most of Cramer's map except I think Romney will win Virginia. I'm also shocked that this became close. I thought Obama would cruise to victory when the Republicans picked a guy who their base doesn't embrace, but somehow he's caught up (and it's nothing to do with Paul Ryan, who's been a nonfactor). Did the Denver debate do all this?

Crappy economy. If the Republicans actually ran a decent candidate, this would have been a blowout in their favor. They had the most important issue strongly hurting the POTUS.

I hope I don't sound facetious, but would it be a bad thing in the long run if the current economic system would in fact collapse?

A lot of things regarding a way of life would change with many, undoubtedly.
There would probably be an amount of human suffering, unfortunately.

But the current system is not exactly equal, either. Corporations are ruling the show, investment banks wrangle billions out of taxpayers' pocket via the government. If they want it fixed, it's because they like their power structure too much to give it up. The little people seem to be just clogs in the machine.

I read an interesting article that the US is now on a starting upswing again. Whoever wins the election will be declared a fucking genious. It's about luck too, not just politics.

I turn 27 later this month. I save as much as I can and I feel the system is rigged against me. You can't make any money by saving because interest rates are artificially low due to the Federal Reserve's manipulation. There was a time when you could make a decent amount of cash by saving, but now it's jack squat. They force you to play in the casino known as the stock market. That being said, I am doing the best I can to retire at a reasonable age (50-55) so I can travel the country and world to see places I haven't seen. I do not want to see a collapse that causes me to lose everything or at a minimum causes me to spend a ton of my savings just on basic goods because of hyper-inflation.
